Hi all. I am thinking about limiting the minimum rating requirement to 4.0.

It seems like many sites are setting the limit to extremely high values like 5.0, which almost no writer will be able to match. This essentially causes the site to stagnate in the forum list.

What do you all think? Is 4.0 a good limit?

Should there be a limit at all?

A limit of 4.0 will alienate the majority because from what I have observed, most ratings are below 4.0. Mine is 3.9 only.

I mean for forums. Writers can have up to a 5.0 rating. Forums just won't be able to set their requirement above 4.0.

I think this is a good idea honestly. How many of us even exceed 4.0 ?

That is a good idea. Those forums which set the requirement at 5.0 will have to settle for 4.0. This means that forums that have already set the requirement at 4.0 will mostly likely reduce to 3.0.

Set limit to 3.0. There are so many quality writers like me but with 3.6. So I want to write more. It is hard to join forums above 4 .

If you put the limit of 4, then review our posts and raise the rate to 4. :D :D

    Thank you :D

Your BizCafe is dead and only has 6 points so I'm not sure why it's even listed. Practically no one ( looking at the members list, only one person has 5.0 rating and they haven't actually posted anything ) can post on Revillution.net, AnimeFused and Startup Forums.

The Revillution.net redirects to another forum on another forum service, one that cannot be listed on TFW.

I'd lower the limit yes. Some forums seems to have interested to have free adverting of being listed, and that's why they put 5.0?

It's more likely that they demand far too much. Some people forget that we are getting 5-10 cents per post, at most.
There are professional writers for hire if they want very lengthy, very well written posts.

Yeah, that's an old debate haha, with the current available forums it takes 2 weeks or so to get $5... :)

Yeah, it sucks. Were there more active forums in 2016/early 2017 ?

Yeah, a few more I can recall, and some allowed 5 or more posts per day, so that made a big difference.

Just saw this and I'll add my input as a site owner. It's a difficult thing to be honest. Yeah, a high rating can alienate, but I've tried 4.0 and had some quality writers. When I set the rating to a lower value I've had some terrible writers join my forum, and after a while it gets very awkward for a site owner to be pressured to ban and delete these writers. Even though many appear to interpret it this way, it's not a personal attack. It's just an attempt to make the site look reputable and hire paid posters who don't post like they're paid posters—people who actually look like they're in it for the fun of it rather than just the money alone. Sadly, there isn't a huge amount of them but that goes for any other site that has a purpose like this. It's just how it is.

That's why I prefer a higher rating, but I agree that 5.0 is impossibly high. With a rating of 4.0 it's easier to vet higher quality posters more objectively rather than having to deal with an influx of people who write poor posts and don't read rules. However, I'd think that lower-rated writers help fuel this site. While I'd like to see a higher number of good writers who follow rules properly I also want to see this site survive, so this is why I said it's difficult.

Forums are a dying breed (especially niche forums) thanks to social media. By that token, sites such as TFW are struggling too.

They're rare, but I've certainly had a few. Generally speaking activity seems pretty bad on TFW nowadays though. I hope it picks up.

Poor writers can come on forums, but if they fail to write even one thing massively interesting, then why should they get a good rating? However, though, there could be appropriate times for one liners - especially witty ones.
