I recently heard a question, and a very good answer to a very old query. "If God knows everything, why do we need to pray? " I've heard many replies, but so far, I find this one to be the best.

"I don't pray to change God's will, I pray to change mine." I know there are many answers to this heart felt cry, but for me, it is a the ultimate answer.

What answer have you chosen to understand? There must be many.

Prayer is a way of conversing with God. It allows you to focus your thoughts toward Him, including thanking and praising Him for things He has done for you or someone else. It also allows you to express your desires and bring your petitions to Him and to ask Him to show His will to you.

It is a very important part of your faith walk with Him.

First of all we pray cause of our benefit as a human being everyone in this world had done something wrong whether it is stole, lie, killing, abuse and we pray cause everyone wants that God forgive him
And as we know God is our creator and he knows everything, and "God doesn't give you what you want,he will give you that which is good for you"

to my understanding, prayer is the means through which we obtain favour from God. Prayer is what we use in communicating with God. To be honest, we humans are the one's who benefit from it, God does not benefits from your prayer , he only uses prayer to intervene in your situation.

Their is no doubt with the statement;God knows everything that is happening to our live, In fact He knew it even before it happened and He knows what will happen next. For everything that happens in this life happens at the time God chooses. Now,prayer is a one on one talk with God about our situation so that we may gain His approval, Most importantly prayer first is for praising God and thanking Him for all He has done to our lives. The second thing is to make God know that we are not really okey with the situation and ask Him through His will to get us out. Prayer is very important in human life and it also makes us to know God and make our faith strong.

We pray because we may have committed sins and we need to be forgiven. He knows we have sinned but we need to confess so that we can be forgiven.

For me, prayer is one of the many privilege that we as humans take for granted. It is through prayer that we are strengthen spiritual as when we prayer we engage ourselves in a intimate conversation with God.
God knows all our needs and he will supply them according to his richest in glory in Jesus Christ. Now what I get from this is that true all things God must get the glory. He is a very jealous in terms of him not wanting you to worship vanity as vanity cannot wake you up in the mornings, if you know what I mean. Now in order for God to obtain the glory he truly deserves, one must fist acknowledge God's wonderful works. this is where prayer comes in. We prayer to God asking for various things. When those things are granted, we acknowledge that he did it because he was the one we asked for it. So we thank him and that is the glory that he gets.

You actually underestimate the power of prayers. Prayers is earthly permission for heavenly interference. The heavens cant do anything on earth until prayers are offered. Even if God wants to help you, he creates a scenario that makes u pray or ask for it. Keep praying, bigger things are on the way

Prayer is having a relationship with God. Can you have a proper relationship with a friend without conversation? Can you have a relationship with anyone without conversing with them? Communication is a bullet to a relationship. Prayer is a form of communication. To have communication (prayer) with God means you form a meaningful relationship with Him.

    Hi Zella,

This reminds me of that old adage, "Can God make a rock so heavy, that he can't lift it?" Not only does God possess all knowledge, He knows all possible things, because He exists outside of Space-Time, and can therefore see the entire probablity-wave as it interacts with all matter in the universe. So prayer then is not to somehow inform God about anything.

To me, there are two reasons we pray. Secondly, we pray becuase there are no athiests in foxholes. In other words, there is something innatley part of being human that causes us to desire to pray (obviously, we all chose different conduits for those prayers).

The ultimate reason to me, is that we pray because He told us to. The reason doesn't matter. The Master speaks, we must obey.

P.S. Yes God can make a rock so heavy that He can't lift it. Doesn't mean He ever would ;)
