Some suppose that an individual who is raised in a tough environment will survive dangerous situations more efficiently. Is negativity a necessary catalyst for creating strong individuals?

I do believe negativity can be necessary. It can spark creativity and innovation. It balances the world, tests people and pushes them to their limits. The biggest thing it does, in my opinion, is that lets you know what you miss about positivity.

You need a negative or else you will not have a positive. However in heaven there is no negative at all. I believe that is a true utopia, if there is such a thing. Funny how negative always attracts positive here on planet earth!

1.Suppose you are a designer of a space ship. You should imagine all negative scenario in order to make your design successful.
    2. Suppose you are a Defence Minister of a country, Negative thinking can make your country more secure.
    3. The Engineering Field of " Cryptography and Network Security" thrives on negative thinking. The more bad scenario you can imagine and implement measures to prevent them, the more robust your Cryptographic system will be.

I do agree negativity helps develop a persons self, being giving something that is hard to deal with and trying to work it out makes a person more wise and understanding. What Energysage97 said about it is also true, experiencing negative things can make one more creative and gives them the ability to express what the negativity makes them feel. A balance of negative and positive is necessary, one can't be without the other or life would be rather redundant and boring.

Negativity is not just necessary, it's important.

It takes being able to think across the full spectrum of ideas and possibilities to gain a clear picture. It is actually somewhat dangerous, in my opinion, to ignore negative aspects. Having an over-positive out view can cause people to throw caution to the wind and not be prepared to the negative things that can and do come around.

I believe everything has to have a perfect balance, but I don't believe that the perfect balance has to be a 50/50 ratio between good and evil. I believe negativity is important to remind people not to take their life for granted, and for people to heal from their wounds and become stronger, but I don't believe that negativity should overtake our lives.

Negativity is a great tool to motivate someone for taking the actions. Take an example of personal jealousy, suppose I'm a best student in my class and teachers appreciates me a lot now some day there's a new student enrolled in my class who is more efficient and sharp than me so because of this I personally dislikes him and becomes jealous. But this could serve as a source of motivation for me because after that I will be paying more attention and focus to my studies which is a positive sign for me.

The neccessity of negativity can only be measured by the necessity of positivity. I am not sure, from a philosophical standpoint, if positive could exist as a societal concept with the presence of negativity. It is almost like trying to imagine a one-sided coin, a true impossibility to the philosophical thinker. For even if the other side of the coin is unengraved, it is still present at all times.
