Your first programming language?

My first language was BASIC, and I remember coding in elementary school on an Apple II and a TI calculator.

Yes, I'm getting old

Since then I've learned many languages including Java, C#, Ruby, and Python.

 

Well, the first programming language I tried to learn was Python, but I didn't get very far with that. The first language I think I really learned to a reasonable degree of proficiency is C, and I've been enjoying it a lot.

C is pretty enlightening to use, and tends to make simple problems more satisfying when you solve them from scratch.

 

The first programming language I learned was Ada. I learned it as my first programming subject in college, as a Telecommunication Engineering student. I had totally no idea what it was about, and I felt quite disappointed as no one else seemed to know about this language. I was hoping to learn a language which is more popular, such as C or Java at that time. A friend told me he heard of the name "Ada" from an article about history of programming.

I was glad I finally learned C, C++ and Java in later semesters which I think they are still helpful to me until today. Perhaps Ada has set a good foundation for me to learn programming, but I would prefer to learn C or Java as my first programming language as Ada was too difficult for me to understand as the first language.

I've learnt VB .Net as my first programming language, I heard about it from my school books, then I started to learn other programming languages as well such as C++, Java and Python. It became easier to learn programming languages once you get the programming logic, all you have to do is to study, and learn the syntax and you're all setup. I know couple of programming languages ranging from web applications development, to cross-platform application development.

 

My first programming language is C language. When my teacher first taught me C language, then I did not understand anything. I did not even understand that what is its work. After that I read it in a lot of detail. Then somewhere I came to understand something. After that I started having a lot of fun in programming. And now I teach the C language to others. Many languages came after C language, but C language is still very fast. Even today, the C language is used in microprocessors. Therefore C language is the mother of all programming languages.

My first programming language was C.And the question was:"Find the sum of 2 numbers with different methods?".

If making complicated formats for Microsoft Excel spreadsheets don't count, then my first would be HTML. I was just trying to make my blog do what I want. Unfortunately, I mostly failed at doing it. Got it right once or twice and I find myself quite enjoying it. So I can only imagine the frustration of it to the people who do it for a living.

 

The first programming language that I learnt was Visual Basic and Java. This was around 7 or 8 years ago in my first couple years of college. I found that I no longer have any use of what I learned in the Visual Basic course, but I have been able to apply my knowledge of Java a lot in my career. In my college years, I also learned other languages, such as C++, C, Objective C, C#, Perl, Ruby, Scala, Python, SQL, to name a few. All of these have enabled me to find and create a great career path for myself.

 

I started with C & Pascal at the same time.. I later came to realize these are the most profound languages of programming to start with, -I guess I was lucky.. Then i went for Java, C++, VB, and still progressing on Python at the moment.. Coding is in my veins

 

Mine was Java when I was in school. We had no option but to learn it and believe me I am so grateful to the schooling faculties for including this subject into our curriculum because it has helped me do better in the branch I currently study in which being Computer Science and Engineering.

Although learning Java at the very start was a bit difficult but the basics of the language that is the syntax, runtime and the way the processing of a program by a compiler takes place was very clear after the course ended which indeed helped me switch to different languages easily.

Currently we have C and C++ in our syllabus and I don't find it difficult to write codes in C, all thanks to Java.

 

My first programming language is c programming language. My respected teacher first off all introduced with this language. And after learning this my confidence increases and logic is cleared. Now a days, I know most of the programming language like c,c++,java,php,javascript. And my over all experience says all the language teach us one thing that is how we think.

 

The first language i learned was Ruby, only to get to cyber space to meet internet thugs and cyber trolls talking down on ruby and how python is far better than ruby and for a moment i wished i could erase everything(delearn) i knew about ruby and head on to python. lol , i was so broken because my mentor told me ruby was the best. but i later grew up to realize that every language has it's own pros and cons, and now i code both.

 

My first programming language is C. I learned C when I was in College. Back then C was more of an Academic language, it is nice to learn and easy to understand compared to other programming languages. But I later dropped it and move on to its predecessor like Java and C#.
presently, I am learning Java. I want to be building server-side applications, video games and mobile apps (especially Android apps). Java is the core foundation for developing Android apps, thanks to its portability.

 

My first language I had used was Java and visual basic. In the first glance of class, I become a hater of this kind of programming language. Because it was so difficult, for me to understand such programming, and it has a lot of bug issues. Only in second year when I understand the programming, still a confusing to carry out it into codes. I admit, I'm not really good at it. I only rely to the forums discussions.

I find visual basic, as a simple programming language. Though, this program is a static program. It has a lot of vulnerability, and security issues. The main focus of visual basic is only for front end developing. The back-end database of visual basic is so easy to access. It has even a back-door access, and database will be use to Microsoft excel.

I really don't know, if Java was my first introduction program. Because I always shift programming language at the time.

 

We both are same @yahyalamghari. I also started my programming world with C++, but I don't think that there is something to regret about it. I had a great experience with this language and I also created a game with it. It was fun and very much interesting.

Moreover, if you think that you should have done Java, then you will be glad to know that now you will be able to do that very easily as you already have knowledge of C++ and you know how to apply logic there. Don't you worry buddy! Your future is bright.

 

My first programming language is C. At first it's very difficult for me to keep up with the tutorials because of this new kind of knowledge. But as time goes by and with consistent practice, I was able to build a "Banking System" for my project. C Language helped me in various projects and activities in school and I'm still using it now when somebody calls me up to help them learn this language.

 

My first programming language was Pascal. This was in early high school and my teacher was terrible. His first lesson he gave us intimidated the heck out of most of us. He got us to open an ancient Development environment (Turbo Pascal), which was a full blue screen with a flashing white cursor-block. Then, he told us to input a program from an equally ancient programming text book. None of us had ever seen something like that and some of us actually dropped the course early on. To this day, I find Pascal a bad place to start, with it's temperamental development environment and limited usability. The only reason I could think of that would make the language a viable gateway into programming is the case insensitivity and the dumbed-down function names. To be fair, my teacher probably didn't know too much about any other programming languages and probably got stuck in the transition between using punch cards and using keyboards.

 

My First Language is HTML. Its easy to use and I learn that when I was 13. And I gonna make html website soon as I complete and master it.. but for now Im studying for school.

I choose to learn HTML because it was easy. Not does java,c++ that require intelect understanding.. I was rookie so I Practicing HTML for Now And Soon im gonna learn other language too.
