I'm looking to learn programming for fun. Should I start with C or Python?

As someone who's interested in computers, I want to learn programming (purely because of fun).

I have narrowed the languages that I want to learn between Python or C. Python intrigues me because it's simple, easy to read, and looks to be one of the easiest ones to learn (but its said to be as powerful as other languages). I'm also interested in C because from what I read, it's one of the best ones to learn first because it's where the syntax and rules of most languages originate from.

In your opinion, what language should I learn first? Python or C?

I would say to start with Python. It is a great universal language that is although very demanding like any coding languages, it is an avenue to learn and expand from there. My best tip is to focus on one whether it be Python or C. Master it so it can help you in the future of programming other languages, because as I said before it is the base of development.

I recommend you to begin with Python because it is becoming a popular programming language being used in developing an application. Whereas, C is becoming obsolete. And if you decided to learn another new language, I suggest that you better master the Python first because it could help you learn a new language faster.

I would definitely recommend Python. It is very useful for coding programs and is the most in-demand language that you can learn. If you want a good place to learn Python, look on Code Academy or Udemy.

Well python is definiyely more user friendly and readable. If you're just looking to have some programming fun that would definitely be my suggestion!

100% Python for the following reasons:

    • It has gained massive popularity in recent years. and in fact big websites such as Instagram, Dropbox and YouTube were built with Python.
    • Even though your interested in learning for fun if you decide to take this professionally, programmers that can code in Python are in high demand.
    • It is easy to read, and recommended by many as a good first choice for beginners.
    • It is easy to expand to other programming languages after learning Python.
    • C is not as popular as Python so resources to learn to code with it will not be as many.

I would suggest you to go and learn python.
I've learned a bit python, and the syntax is really simple, it's really fun language and really useful today.
    Go for it!
