    1. Be aware of negative thought patterns about food.

    2. Talk to your doctor and get a referral to a registered dietitian.

    3. Keep in mind most people on a healthy diet lose 1 to 2 pounds a week. If you want to lose more than this, you may be setting yourself up for failure.

    4. Plan your meals.
