Permanent Cure For Chronic Ulcer?

I have a friend who has been suffering from a chronic ulcer. The problem has lingered for over two years now, and we have been to several hospitals in search of permanent cure, but every treatment taken so far seem not to be working. In fact, my friend has been hugely restricted on his choice of diets.

What you think about this problem? Can he be permanently cured by taking local herbs and concoction? Or is there a special medication that you know and can recommend?
