Stem cells have two important features that make them different from other cells. One is that they are not specialized cells and they have the ability to multiply by cell division. The other feature is that under the right conditions they can be used to grow different types of specialized cells like cells for certain organs like the heart or kidneys. Special conditions are not always required though, in some organs like the gut, or in bone marrow, stem cells normally divide and form new specialized cells for the organs, yet, some organs like the brain require special conditions.

Could anybody explain why this isn't being used to grow entire limbs for disabled people, or maybe an entire human body?
