Should training be introduced to students on how to work online from home, given the high unemployment conditions that are not getting any better?

I think yes. I have been working online from home for about 7 years now and I think if I was tough how to form an income for myself from an earlier age It would have been much easier to start and might have become a successful freelancer earlier in my life.

Yes. I have been working online for years now, mainly because that is all that is left. Trade and labor jobs are all being replaced by machines. Even getting a "real job" in IT is a struggle because everything has been outsourced to freelance internet workers.

What we consider work is changing more rapidly than ever. I think students, especially young children should be prepared to be very flexible, adaptive and self-reliant when it comes to their careers. Especially with the prospect of technological unemployment, at least in certain areas of labor, I feel that it's more important than ever. There will probably come a time where we will have to question if 'work' is a valid means of survival for (all) humans.

Great question. I remember when I was still in uni, all I was taught in 5 years was how to be a good employee. No one ever taught me how to start my own business, or how to adapt to the future technologies and challenges that both old and new companies are facing nowadays. All I ever learned was how to manage someone else's business dream. Nowadays, while I'm trying to get by as a freelancer, I realize how important it is to think outside the box. So I think, yes. Students should be taught personal finance, resilience, and how to adapt to changes.

@Vyck you're right there no one will teach you, only you! There are tactics on how to earn thru online not just business but also providing your services to other people like what I do to my client I help him with his data entry jobs, I filled he's spreadsheet excel into the providing file that he gave after that when I finish the work he will pay me though there are a lot of things you can earn not just providing business but also learn in the internet and adapt changes.

I think they should be taught, currently you can find so many graduates from various universities who are jobless, so!e have stayed home for about five years since their graduation day without any job. Basically online working is the remedy for the unemployment crisis in the world. If then they should not be taught on how to work online, they should be taught on how to get a job.

No, I don't think that training should be introduced to students on how to work online from home because they would give up on finding a real job. I say because this happened to me, I have started to earn online in 2010, and I earn a decent salary from my online work so, I gave up to my real job where my earnings were less than I am earning now.
Now are seven years since I work from home, and believe me this is not good!

Yes i think that making a course in schools or it being some sort of topic in a course, should be made available to students. Right now the world is changing at a very fast pace, technology has made it possible to do a variety of things online and the conventional way of doing things have almost been blurred. The economy isn't doing so well in various countries and people have to do what they can to get by. Starting an online business or working for someone online may be the only option out there for some people.

I think it is a good idea. Given the difficulties encountered in looking for formal employment, training the young people on how to work online from home would be a plus to them. Its a relatively new venture in Kenya, but you can already feel the kind of enthusiasm that it has been received with.

I think given the unemployment rate around the world, there should be a way to earn online so that the people who face challenges or difficulties in getting jobs elsewhere, can put in their efforts and work online, earning some money.

Work from home, on the other hand has a negative image in the public eye because of spam companies and other organisations that destroy the trust.

Working from home is a very convenient job and a very good idea for someone like me who has 3 kids to take care and especially those PWU, (persons with disability), so working out would be very hard for us and inconvenient. I applied for an office-based job several months ago but it did not work out because here in our place we have difficult transportation going to the city and I still have to take care of my 3 kids, it was a hassle time for me, so what I did I bought a computer and prefer to work from home.

I am very hands-on to my 3 kids, I want to cook for them, feed them, send them to school, and have quality time with them while seeing them grow. I`m very thankful for this home-based online jobs because now I do not have to worry thinking about my kids while I`m out working. I can now manage my time and get paid whenever I want to.

I think yes. One do not know what the future holds. Working from home is a very easy way, for me to earn an extra income for our family. I am an stay at home wife and have an one year old and another baby on its way, so I don't always have the time to be behind the desk. So, what works for me is doing online 'jobs' that can earn me some cash.

I strongly believe schools should train students to work from home. The world is changing dramaticly and jobs are getting harder to find. Alot of things are being replaced with computers. I taught myself to work from home and I would not change anything. I will teach my kids how to work from home.

Yes, it should be taught starting in high school, in general, to be honest, and not just for IT/computer-related students. It's a very relevant skill to have now in this age. Even college graduates end up being jobless due to low employment opportunities, along with too much competition. Teaching some vocational skills that could help a person land on freelancing jobs definitely can help alleviate unemployment rates. I for one, am practicing transcribing right now, so I'd have a fallback if ever I fail to find a decent work once I graduate from Nursing school.

I'm still finding a way to earn an income from home based online jobs. It would be nice if there is some training be introduced at the initial level then gradually can be picked up as you work on.

I think that's an excellent idea! It's getting more and more difficult to find traditional 9-5 jobs that will pay a living wage, and even many of those fail to deliver on their promises once you're hired. Earning from home online is becoming a much more viable option. School lessons could include how to separate the scams from the legitimate opportunities, how to market your skills online, and how to work productively each day.

You are right but if school institution will train or taught them how to work from home I guess the next semester they will no longer go to school. Instead they will just stay at home and work, in that scenario they will find going to school is just a waste of time. But it's really up to us to find ways to earn money. Yes it's really hard to find a real job nowadays and the sad thing about it is some company does take advantage of it and give their employee a low salary.

But working online really depends on your skill, like for instance myself I don't really have that skill. That's why I still find it hard to look for job online. I am just trying my luck here and if works then good and if not i'll look for another one.
