It depends on the type of the movie I'm going to watch. If it's a thriller/suspense movie then I don't go through the reviews as it is only going to ruin the fun to watch it and reading a detailed review will kill the curiosity by unfolding some of its plot already. I do check the ratings though.

But in case I am going to watch comedy or action or a sci-fi movie I generally go through the reviews as you don't want to waste about 2 hours of your time and a decent amount of money on a crappy movie.

I do read read reviews and look at their ratings from trusted sources (e.g. box office mojo,Imb.e.t.c)before watching movies

I wouldn't like to waste money buying a movie just because it has a nice title or because the vendor says so.And then after feel ridiculed when I watch it

No I do not, simply because I believe one man's food is another man's poison. One may really praise a movie after watching it and on the other hand, another may disapprove saying how it was his or her worst movie. You may even watch a preview and like it therefore wanting to see the movie but afterwards seeing a negative review on it.This makes you decide not to watch it but may be you would have liked it.People have different tastes and preferences

I've never read a review for movies I want to see. Many times I hear from my friends about the movie and see what the general consensus is. Even if people say the movie was a stinker, if it has actors I enjoy, I'll still go see it. I think, some times, reviews can cause you to have a bias/ a preconceived notion about the film and can really influence how you feel about the movie.

I do not read reviews before watching a movie, I usually review later to see if people thought the same thing I did. I have seen negative comments on movies that I actually loved,so these days I prefer to be the judge.

I was just doing a review today of the show 'Too Close To Home'. I thought it was great and I am impatiently waiting for the next episode, well, not anyone on the review site thought the same. All comment went into something like this... "this was the worst acting i have ever seen in my life".

My answer to this question would be a definite yes. I wouldn't say that I always read reviews of every single movie before I decide to watch them or not. I read reviews most of the time before I go see, rent, or order a movie. I rely on a few of my friends and certain family members advice and their point of view first. Then I would check out the online trailers, blogs, and post about the type of movie that I am interested in seeing.
The reason I do all these kinds of reviews for a movie is the same reason anyone else would try on clothing before they purchase it. I want to make sure I'm not going to be wasting my time or my hard earned money on what I thought was going to be awesome but turned out to be lame. That would seriously upset me and ruin my day or night. I just want to get what I paid for with no surprises. I'm also a huge movie fan so I would throw an even bigger tantrum if a movie that I've been wanting to see turns out to be crap.

So that's why I choose to review movies that I want to see before I actually go out and spend my money to see them. I look at it as another way of being responsible as well as careful. Moviegoers know the deal!

If i have not heard of the movie before then i am more inclined to read the reviews. I simply do not want to waste my time watching a movie that i may not like. I also like to read reviews before i download a movie.

I barely read them. Most of the time movie title is all i need. I love surprises unexpected u-turns rather having to know all the content. However, actors & actress plays a huge role in making up the mind. Review kills my anticipation and suprises that i desire i any movie to keep me watching.

I honestly don't always watch the reviews on movies unless it is by an actress or actor I am not familiar with watching. I, for the most part; if it is an actress or actor I know will make a movie I am intrigued in, I don't look at the reviews to see what other people are saying about the movie because deep down I believe my favorite actor/actress will deliver a great movie hands down. I also wouldn't want to read negative comments about the movie if it is directed by someone that I like. That just defeats the purpose in my opinion.

I am a believer of this notion.

I always read the review of a film before spending my hard-earned money to watch it in the cinema. Though the maker of the film and its star cast does matter to me but my major decision lies within the opinion of the film reviewer.

Yes! I definitely read the movie reviews first. I like to see how many people like or dislike the movie. If I see exciting things that doesn't actually spoil the movie... This itself will save me money from seeing something that will not interest me!!

Reading the movie preview is not a prerequisite for me before watching any movie though in some of the movies, most likely the new series I occasionally reads through just to have a snapshot of what the series is based on. This helps me in deciding whether to watch the movie or not but in other cases, the actors act as the main drive to me watching the movie but not the previews.

Therefore for me reading previews is not an integral thing before I watch a movie.

yes i do when i am just looking for a good movie to watch say on a weekend . there are many review sites but i have now grown to like one or two which do give reviews which i find reliable e.g. an 8/10 does not turn out to be a 4/10. when you follow particular actors i find myself just watching the flick instead of reviewing first. Another point, when i read the review i do not read the storyline / synopsis - i skip to comments so as to gaguge the movie and not spoil the movie

It is very hard for me to read the movie review because I usually go for the movie trailer. I find movie reviews being tiresome to read since the movie trailer shows it all. It builds the interest and show what kind of movie it is. Trailers will help you decide which type of company you can watch the movie with. They also save time, I guess that is the main reason I would not go for a movie review. Plus I support akyshaychouhon785. On the point that reviews may kill the curiosity

Yes, I read reviews of movies before watching them. It helps me to decide if which film is the best to watch and deserves its price. More good reviews means the film is good. It intrigues me to also watch the film and go with the hype.

I never read movie reviews prior to watching a movie. I don’t like to allow others to influence me and what I should like and dislike. In addition, I rarely agree with the reviews I have read. I also agree that it is rare to find an accurate, unbiased review.

I read about the plot and watch the trailers. I also initially evaluate whether I think it will be good based on the actors and actresses in the movie and the movie director. If I don’t think it will be great, I will wait until I can watch it at home rather than spend the money at the movie theater.

Sometimes I do. I think that's what gives me the motivation to either watch or not watch a movie when it comes out. But sometimes despite the review I just watch the movie and review it myself.

Sometimes, I read written reviews about the movies I'm interested to watch. I do it for me to examine whether the movie is really worth watching or not. I also do it for me to compare my insights and understanding of the movie. However, I don not rely everything to written reviews. If I'm really interested to watch a film, I always combine reading reviews with trailers so that my interest won't entirely dissolve. I don't actually judge based on only one opinion, and that's why I also watch trailers.

Never, in fact I even hate trailers. I want to go into a movie knowing as little as possible, so I'll be surprised by every twist and turn. Plus, I hate movie critics! They get movies wrong all the time. They usually don't rate movies high unless they have some deep meaning or some political message, but i just want to see a good movie! Anyone agree?

To be honest i'm one of those rare species that reads reviews after the movie. My reason is pretty weird to be honest. I consider myself to have a pretty good taste in movies therefore if I watch and enjoy a movie or otherwise hate it,I go to the reviews to see if there are others who agree with my point of view hoping its a majority.

After reviews I go back and watch the movie(if it was worth it that is)and try to look for the things I saw in reviews that I had not noticed and maybe get a different perspective.

I don't know if this makes sense to anyone. Is there someone out there like me?
