Music is a very large part of my life and through the years, I have realized that music does in fact affect my mood. For example, if I listen to calm music I tend to be very calm and collected. If it's upbeat music I get all happy and energetic.
Does that happen to anyone else? Do you think the kind of music you listen to may determine the kind of mood you are in?

Music does effect my mood greatly. I can be feeling sick or in a really bad mood, but if my favorite song comes on, it will immediately change everything I'm feeling and make me happy and wanting to dance. It's so cool how music can do that.

Music does indeed affect your mood @Kay. Let's take three important human emotions, happiness, sadness and anger. When people are happy, they speak faster and their voice's higher. When they are sad, they speak more slowly and their voice's lower. Finally, when people are angry they raise their voices or shout.

Babies can tell whether their mother is happy or not simply by the sound of her voice, not by her words. What music does, is it copies this and it produces the same emotions. So faster and high pitched music will sound happy. Slow music with lots of falling pitches will sound sad. Loud music with regular rhythms will sound angry.

It doesn't matter how good or bad the music is. If it has these characteristics, they will make you experience different emotions.

Yes, music is a big part of my life. When sad I listen to the type of music that will cheer me up. With music its very easy to relieve stress. Mostly I prefer worship songs that makes me feel relaxed and keeps me happy, encouraged and draws the Holy Spirit to me. Music has a unique link to emotions hence its a good stress management tool.

Yes music always has a positive effect on my mood. Whenever I feel a little low or stressed out , I listen to my favourite music and it does change my mood and make me feel good. In fact there has been a lot of research in regards to the positive effect of music on human mind.

Good music has the power to touch the soul of a person and bring positivity in his life. I have been following Indian classical music for many years. In the tradition of Indian classical music various ragas that are sung or played by the musicians have a particular time assigned to them. These timings of the ragas have been fixed according to the effect they will have on the minds of the audience. Music is a vast and amazing field and lot of research can be done about all these facts.

Music do really influence us not only our mood but also our personality. We tend to play songs that are associated in what we feel in order to convey our emotions to feel relieved. There are a variety of genre that we can choose from. In, addition each song has a different stories. As a human we are very emotional and we want something that we can lean on if no one is there to stand for us.
In conclusion, the song that we play influences us because the songs the we listen to reflects of who we truly are.

Personally I believe music is a great way to alter a mood especially invoking a broad range of emotions. Not only based on your personal taste, but also if a song, album, or show meant something to you or brings back a aparticular memory, it can take you back to that particular time in your life.
For instance, my first album bought for me by my first girlfriend, was one I can still listen and recall, in a good way now the special time we shared together.
I recall the bootleg album of another group from a live show I attended before the lead singer died, it brings back not only the memory of the concert itself, but also the times i listened to their music and good times Ive had.
While not for everyone, I would strongly encourage those who have a passion for music to try and listen to all types to not only appreciate those who have spent endless hours honing their craft but also its an easy way to find new tunes, or mood enhancers for you to listen to in the future.

Well it depends, if your soul is weak you will get affected very easily, on the otger hand if your soul is strong you won't be affected. It also has to do with the reason as to why your listening to music. If it is to calm then it will.

To me, music is the main vocal point on the way my mood shapes itself. Not only that, it really is a way to make an emotion stronger. So, to answer your question, yes, it does. A lot.

I think that music just conveys a lot of emotion in general. Even if it doesn't have lyrics - sometimes it can be that powerful. We also associate different songs with different memories. I now associate my favorite artist Salvador Sobral with happiness and nostalgia, because his concert was the very first concert I ever attended. The human brain is very interesting in that sense - it's so complex to the point that a bunch of different combinations of notes or even words have deep meanings and emotions to one, while can mean nothing to the other.

Obviously music definitely affects or alters my moods. Listening to some soothing songs helps to reduce the burden of worries and sorrow. Uninteresting music makes my mood dull and very irritable especially if am not the one controlling the music. A good message in a song will always give me hope-raises my spirits by knowing that am not the first or the only one to face difficulties.

To be short music is the food to my soul! And I cannot live without it-even angels sing in heaven.

Music is the universal language. It is instant in its absorption and result. Many kinds of listeners, just as many kinds of music. Music invades the heart…at once. It either takes or it doesn’t. If it doesn’t, another will. For me, it changes me in a moment and it never wears out. Its eternal. There always has been music and it will prevail throughout the future as long as there are ears to hear it.

Music can change my mood. Whenever I feel sad, I just listen to happy music and it makes me feel better. When I'm bored, I listen to music and I love it. When I'm nervous, I listen to mellow music an it makes me calm. Basically music is the cure for my unwanted emotions.

Yes, music does affect my mood. When I'm stressed up I listen to cool music, it always has a calming effect on me and I can feel my muscles start to relax almost immediately, at other times when I'm feeling down I listen to high tempo music and it helps pick my mood up. Most days whenever I'm at home I have r&b music going on in the background, it's become more or less a theme for my house.

The lyrics of a song also play a huge role for me, when I feel dejected or discouraged I prefer to listen to inspirational or motivational music, I've realised that motivational words sung as the lyrics of a song gets to me faster than when just listening to plain motivational audio(in the short term, at least).

Not only do I think that music has an effect on one's mood at any particular time, I also believe that it plays a great role when it comes to being in control of your moods at all times.

It does in many levels not only my mood. I usually listen to music using my Spotify and whenever I feel sleepy at work, I just listen to upbeat music and I will feel very awake and energize. Sometimes I even end up dancing lol

I think it happens to most people. Music is a universal language. Everyone may not understand the language used in music, but everyone seems to gel with good music and flow with it. Even infants flow with good, calm music, and relax when such music is played. I bet whoever invented music must have found the world a very dull place without those musical notes, and decided to change all that.

Definitely! I often say that nothing better than a joyful song to end a discouragement. Just like nothing worse than a sad song at a sad time ... it only makes one sink even more in sorrow. But it seems that people tend to listen slow and sad songs when they are sad...
I do not understand this, it seems that they like to suffer !?

It absolutely and most definitely is for me. I have a long commute and there are days when no amount of coffee in the morning wakes me up. It's tough sitting in my car and trying to focus, that's when music always comes to my rescue. It not only pumps my adrenaline but also cheers me up, makes me start thinking about things and before long I am set to take on whatever the day brings.

Yes! Music greatly affect a person's mood, it depends on what kind of music they are listening to, to further explain in scienctific term, depending on what kind of music you are listening, let's say you're listening to jazz music, it produces certain ora and frequency or waves to our ears and stimulates emotions and memories which greatly affects our overall mood, for a moment you're happy, then in a quick snap when you heard a song that you relate when you and your partner broke up, snap, then you find yourself sad. Cheers.
