I know a good number of people who love to watch their TV online. They don't even really use their televisions anymore, and I fall into that category also. But I prefer to download the shows that I watch online, rather than streaming them. The reason for this is because if my internet connection suddenly goes out, then I already have the file downloaded, and can watch it whilst waiting for my internet connection to right itself.

Also, I don't like having to wait for it to buffer. There is nothing more frustrating lol.

But I know that many people prefer to stream. Do you stream or download? Or both? Whatever your stance, why?

I've done both! I download when I have limited broadband because it's cheaper and quicker. I was once on a limited plan and I had to download instead of streaming. Now that I am on an unlimited deal, I can stream. I stream so I don't have too much on my laptop so i can watch several episodes without having to wait and also if an episode is less than exciting I can fast forward it.

The only thing with downloading is that it can take time and it doesn't allow you to watch anything else without any blips. I was doing an online course and downloading the lectures would take quite a while, so I kept them as back ups, but streamed them because it was easier to fast forward them or rewind if I needed to replay a section.

You know, I've never really understood all of the peak times and limited broadband and all of that. I am with Virgin Media. They are my ISP (Internet Service Provider) and the bandwidth always seems to be the same for my household? I'm not sure how other packages or deals work. See, with the streaming if I try to forward or rewind whatever I am trying to watch, sometimes it'll start to buffer for way too long, or just freeze up altogether, which I don't have time for.

If I am downloading shows, then I'll usually have the next episode downloading in the background whilst I am watching the one that has already downloaded before it. My sister prefers to stream, but then again maybe - like you - she has more success with streaming than I do lol.

I don't know how to download videos or music; and I thought they are illegal to do so I have never bothered learning how. After cutting out cable I am now streaming movies and shows from Netflix and Hulu. I also don't want to clutter up my computer, or having more files sitting around. You should see the collection of VHS and Discs that I still have around the house :)

For some reason downloading TV shows or movies doesn't really appeal to me because I think that it is too much work or will take too much time. On the other hand, I will download music from time to time which seems kind of ironic. I prefer to stream TV shows and movies on a ROKU device. It is really convenient and gives me a lot of options.

Well I definitely prefer streaming over downloading, but a few months ago it was the other way around. What change my mind was Netflix, it absolutely works like a charm on my crappy internet service. But I guess if I somehow lost my subscription to Netflix well I would preferably go back to downloading.

I do both depending on the situation. With unlimited bandwidth and over 100mb/s I can usually start the download, go to make popcorn and have the download ready when my popcorns are. Thats usually with movies. For series I prefer streaming on netflix.

I am a streamer. I guess the reason is because I feel like there is the chance that I can download some terrible virus and ruin my computer. I will admit that I have downloaded as well, but every time I download- I feel like each little hiccup or glitch that happens following the download is because my computer has a virus...

I have lowly 10mbps connection so streaming content that I'd deem good enough quality is not an option. Thus I'll stick to downloading everything.

Normal is to also use the TV, but lately I kind of ignored it and started to download movies from the internet and put them on the TV in the living room, what should I still furthest from the internet, I can say that internet is part of our life every second, and if you are good a few years ago and I remember, I cannot even exist now, but admit that they use very much the internet and download from the internet. :)

For short movie, i am usually use streaming. But for long movie I do download. I prefer download because we can use later without streaming again and we can see the movie without Internet connection.

I've started doing the same thing as well, I will download a bunch of shows I want to watch, then load them all up in Windows Media Player and let them all play back to back, so I don't have to keep getting interrupted to go find the next show I want to watch, and having to deal with stuttering streaming and other playback problems.

Most of the shows I find online are hosted (albeit illegally) on video hosting services such as VodLocker and AllMyVideos, which can often be slow at times if you are simply streaming from them. So I rely on Internet Download Manager to capture the streams so I can download them all to my computer first.

It's also an indirect way for me to keep tabs on how much I am actually downloading when it comes to watching shows online, so I can avoid going over my monthly data caps. Some shows might be under 100mb, while other shows might be nearly 1GB. I try to only download them in the lowest possible file size that is reasonably clear on my television or monitor. I really don't need to waste tons of GB's per month just to see my shows in some super high definition.

Also, the shows I really like, I may keep as part of my permanent stash to keep my occupied if my internet ever goes down for an extended period of time.

I never watched a film on streaming and I will never do, because you never know when you are going to lose your internet connection!

I prefer downloading because once you are done, you are able to re-watch the movie any time you want without any problems.

I would download over streaming. With downloading, it's yours to always have without worrying about random buffering or the internet going down. With streaming it maybe more instant but you are likely to have interruptions as the streaming is working to bring you the display on time. Downloading gives you some peace of mind of just watching it without any interruptions. So downloading to me is the way to go!

I only stream youtube videos! I rarely stream movies, I find it a waste of time and money. 1-It's a waste of time: you are always forced to wait a lot for the whole movie to buffer, I can stream full hd youtube videos easily because they are short in length.Long videos require extremely fine and fast internet connections. 2-It's a waste of money: if you want to stream movies legally, you have to subscribe to services like Netflix or Hulu. 3-Conclusion: I definitely prefer to download movies, it also costs, but any movie you buy becomes yours forever.
