Currently we have a variety of operating systems which come with different specifications but the most common operating system would be Microsoft windows XP which is suitable for office work since it has word processors. I have also used Linux and windows 7 which were great. What operating system do you use?

Windows XP though it is still widely used is classed as an obsolete Operating System. I've noticed that software being released these days can't be installed on Windows XP. It's like those who aren't yet willing to let go of XP are being forced to upgrade.
At the moment I have three operating systems installed on my computer. I still have XP which I'm using now, Windows 7 and Ubuntu which I don't like that much.

Am currently using two operating systems; Linux (Kali Linux) and windows 8.1. I like it because you can run both 32 and 64 based applications. On the other hand I use Kali Linux for programming purposes. :)

I'm currently using Windows 8.1 Pro, but I am also familiar with Mac OSX. I find that Mac OSX is simpler and easier to use, however it is pretty laggy and doesn't have much capabilities (such as playing most popular games). I currently prefer Windows. It may be more complicated and not so user-friendly, but it's a very flexible OS that can do all sorts of things that OSX cannot, such as running Fallout 4.

I use Linux. There are so many different desktop environments for Linux with different looks and feels, and I've gone through phases of using them all. They're super easy to install and you can have multiple environments running on one machine. After a while I started to learn the command line and how much more power it gives you compared with graphical user interfaces, which can be sluggish and very limited. (With power comes responsibility, however, and I have definitely irretrievably deleted some files through carelessness!) Basically, if you're the type of person that likes to tinker and customize your work environment rather than doing actual work, Linux is the way to go. Otherwise, the reliability and security of Macs are good for people who want things to "just work". I will never, ever go back to Windows again - the security is poor (it was originally designed as a personal home computer rather than a networked computer, and it still suffers from this), the disk drives require defragmenting, the system slows down over time, and it tracks users and reports all kinds of information back to Microsoft, all so that we can have a slower experience on the computer. No thanks!

I'm using windows since got my first Laptop 5 years ago, and I haven't had much to complain about. But compared to windows when Linux the virus threat is really disturbing. There is a number of occasions in which I had format my computer completely. But with the level of functionality, customisation, and apps available for the windows, the Linux is totally outgunned here.

But the Linux has its own advantages, it simple clean and easy to use. You don't have to worry about viruses and malware and the greatest fact is, it's an open source software.

I am basically a web developer and mostly web developers and programmers prefer the ease and flexibility in their operating system which is provided by Solaris,Linux and Unix operating system. But they have complex interface for end users.I prefer windows operating system as it is multi-functional for me and provide all the stuff necessary for me.

Hi. I use windows 8 for right now until I get a new laptop in the next couple of months. I don't know about Linux but I need to find out about it. Maybe you could tell me or explain to what it is used for on the computer. I am trying to stay up on computers but the knowledge is moving faster than I can understand. I have used Microsoft windows XP on my son's computer in the past.

I am using Windows 7 at the moment. Windows 7 is my primary OS. Besides, I use Ubuntu, Android 4.2 on Virtual Box, since I can try different kinds of things inside Virtual Box without having to worry about anything. So most of the time I'm using Ubuntu. I failed to install Ubuntu server on VM, or else I would be using that much more.

Currently am using Windows 10. I was kind of hesitant to upgrade it as I fear the repeat of the Vista drama but am not disappointed at all.

I am right in the middle of making the switch to Windows 10, and I am still not sure whether or not I am liking it or not. I really like this Cascade feature, though, where you can essentially have different desktops working at once and switch between them. I am the type of disorganized person who can really benefit from this, so that is really nice, but I am still adjusting to some of the other changes. It is going to be interesting though, and you will probably see me back for some help.

I use Windows 10 as it meets all the requirements that I need for my everyday tasks. Windows 10 is designed in such a way that I looked for the first time and was a bit baggy with consumption of more device storage. But, now they are providing the updates for the best performances of the device and is making more reliable to use. They also have insisted the support if any users are unable to use the windows 10. It have many features for best gaming, programming, designing and running virtual system for the development process.

I'm using Windows 10, which I like better than 8 but not as much as 7. A couple of years ago, I went out on a wild search to get an ASUS with Windows 7 and found it but there was a catch. It was manufactured in Italy and came with a bunch of keys not familiar to this American. It was also bulky and I ended up donating it. Glad Microsoft worked out some of the bugs.

I use Windows 10 on my laptop. I use an Android operating system on my tablet. Both of these operating systems are great. They both meet all of my needs and requirements.

Windows XP is a good operating system but is no longer supported by Microsoft so the updates are not available leaving it vulnerable to threats which are growing with each passing day. Also if you do internet banking XP does not have updates to allow you to do internet banking. Windows 7 which I am currently using is meeting all my requirements for the multimedia as well as online shopping banking etc so I don't feel any need to try any other OS. I just love windows 7
