War,diseases, poverty and strange happenings are signs that we are living in the last days.It is written in the Bible that during the last days all that I have mentioned above will take place and sure thing we have witnessed them taking place which is an indicator that the world will soon end.I just thought I should inform you.

I'd rather not start a discussion on whether the Bible can really predict our future, because it's a touchy subject for many people, but can I ask why you think that "war, diseases, poverty" are commonplace now? There has never been a time without them, but if you check the data, we actually live in relatively peaceful era - only a minority countries are engaged in wars foreign or domestic, while just 200 years ago warfare regularly affected the lives of nearly everyone.

We're not plagued by diseases either, really massive epidemics happen only in the least developed countries and there are huge and successful efforts to curtail them, like recent eradication of smallpox (most lethal disease in human history).

Finally, poverty is always present in economically unequal societies, but worst deprivation is waning too. Fewer and fewer people are in danger of hunger every decade, we produce so much food that obesity is now a major concern, and average person enjoys luxuries like access to fresh water from the tap or internet access - stuff that was unimaginable in Biblical times.

The Bible says not even the Angel's in heaven knows when the end is .I believe what it says. I don't think people should predict when the end is they did not know .I don't think it matters when the end is ,today could be your end. That's why you should always be ready. No promise of tomorrow.

I agree but then again disagree due to the fact the bible has been altered in many cases, even the King James Version was altered by King James himself (i.e. The name lol) put things in so people would follow his rules/demands and had pieces taken out that he did not want. He was an evil and cruel human being that manipulated people so I don't believe it is the end just yet. I believe in God but definitely not in the bible, do some research about what I just said and you may get insight on what I'm telling you.

That we are living in the end times is something which almost everyone believes whether they are religious or not. Either war will wipe out the human race or climate change will and there's nothing anyone can about it.

For two thousand years Christians have said, "we are living in the last days" but how long do the last days last? Millennia? Centuries? No one knows. That's why we shouldn't be too overly concerned about "the last days." If we seek to be pious let not "the last days" be our motivation to be pious.

    Hi owlette,

I know your comment was not posed to me specifically but, I felt the need to respond. As it relates to the Bible and end of days I believe we must look at things as a whole. For instance, it is normal for those of us in different countries to examine only our country when it comes to religion. However, as a Christian, I believe we are all God's children (the entire world). Therefore, in light of that view, I believe the statements about war are proven when you look at the instances you mentioned (minority countries).

Unless you have truly examined the Bible on this subject and/or believe it, it is hard to understand this point. You see the last days is not a week, specific number of days, etc. Speaking for myself as a Christian, we believe the last days is a period of time leading up to the return of Jesus Christ. Now this period can be a span of years. Therefore, in looking into whether you accept the notion, I think it is best to look toward a period of years and a worsening of the times.

Here are a few things which make me believe we are in the last days:
    1. Wars/war talks on the rise in this world. In war and talks of war I include the various acts of terrorists as well.
    2. The change in laws to accept various things that are contrary to the word of God in a blatant fashion.
    3. The increasing depravity of families murdering each other and society's lack of human decency in the recent murders by government officials, and murders of government officials.

I believe there are many other reasons which prove too lengthy to go into here. If you are up for it I think an illustrative read is found here: Matthew 24. What convinced me is the number of things I have witnessed now that are a sign of the time, as compared to the past when people would explain the signs of the end and see one or 2 things.

And remember, the Bible also compares our days to the days of Noah. People in Noah's day also said that Noah was crazy for preaching that the world was going to end. I think the above comments echo exactly what those people said back then.

I would like to address the comment of the writer above who said that the Bible has been changed, and so she believes in God, but not the Bible. The Bible has definitely had its enemies down through the centuries. But if you believe in an all-powerful God, doesn't it make sense that if He had the Bible written, that he has the power to preserve it no matter how many efforts are made to discredit it?

Thank you, Janee Mitchell for doing such an excellent job of explaining a difficult subject. Your insights are clear and thoughtful.

Wow, this is an interesting topic indeed. I too am also a Christian. I believe that Christ came to save, heal and deliver. However, there are those who do not believe and therefore, will have no part of this level of thinking. That being said, I can accept this and am willing to listen to another train of thought on the subject.

I truly understand and can see for myself a lot of what is happening in our present day. Yes, it is true, there are a lot of technical, medical, and scientific advances. In my wildest dreams, I would have never imagined a device, the cell phone, would take the place of so many gadgets (phone, calculator, camera, alarm clock, watch, map, calendar, and a phone book just to name few things. Cell phones and social media have also taken the place of one on one conversation. We live in a day and time where time-saving modern conveniences abound, and yet, we still don't have enough time. Fast food and convenience foods have taken the place of home cooked meals, why, because we don't have the time to prepare one. Now obesity among young and old has skyrocketed. Our children are occupationally orphaned, (placed in daycare) or are latch key kids, because it is now economically necessary that families have 2 incomes since the cost of living is higher than the average income. Unfortunately, the first institution that GOD ordained (the family) is dying.

Unfortunately, when prayer was outlawed in the public schools, every inconceivable act of depravity gladly walked in. Today we contend with such things as teen substance abuse, BABY mamas/daddies, gun violence, cyber bullying, sexting, mental illness, eating disorders, outright rebellion, illiteracy, promiscuity, excessive body piercings and tattoos, (physical, mental and psychological abuse) and this is just a few things going on among our youths. And in much of this, the parents have played a major part in the laying of their foundation.

I mentioned the youth because I am very concerned about them and the turn of events taking place in our world today. Many won't be able to handle it. Why, because they have been exposed to so much violence and indifference, in order to survive and cope, some will develop a blind, deaf and mute attitude concerning their environment and the world around them. However, in the midst of all this, there will also be a remnant of hope. Yep ladies and gentlemen, among these are our future caregivers, bankers, scientists, educators, medical professionals, engineers etc. The adult population, another day, another long post. LORD HELP YOUR PEOPLE.

It's interesting that you make that statement because people have been saying this repeatedly throughout history. The Apostles actually believed they were living in the last days. I can remember when the Gulf war began, people were making end time predictions. I think people need to realize that war, poverty, and disease are normal occurrences in life.

This was a very good reply, as we are living in very good times despite the constant over sensationalize news stories which only represent a small fraction of what the majority of people are experiencing on a daily basis. The Bible is actually really clear in Matthew 24:36 saying that no one knows the day, the time, nor the hour of the end not even the angels of Heaven. The only one who knows is the Father which art in Heaven. Two will be in the field and neither will know which will be taken or which will be left.

If you talk to some people who believe solely in God and the Bible, I am pretty sure they might believe we are living in the end times. I am not really sure if these are the end times or not. When I look at television news programs, they waste no time telling me who got killed, robbed and hurt. The media loves to saturate people with terrible things and waste no time endorsing harmful behavior. War, poverty, diseases and natural catastrophes have been with us from the start. Maybe the end times started a long time ago and we are not yet done living through them.

You know what, there goes a serious thought. And you just might be right. The media does sensationalize the gory details of inhumane behavior. However, and unfortunately, honorable behavior does not garner the attention that it should.

Hi. You are right we are living in the last days with World War III starting and we are in it. The storms, hurricanes, flooding and earthquakes are killing many people. This is a sign of Jesus is getting ready to call or say come up hither. Besides we are to look for his coming with great joy and
    expectation.

I know that a lot of bad things are happening, but it is not the end. This bad things are done by people who are cruel and only think of themselves. People who are jealous of others.

I used to say there is no such thing as witchcraft untill it happened to me. The things i always saw on television were happening to me. Thank God there pastors to save us from evil.
