Have you ever disagreed with your doctor? I recently had an experience with my doctor and I disagreed with what he had to say concerning my medication. I have had a history of having high cholesterol in my past years. A few years ago the same doctor that I have now prescribed to me a medication called Crestor.

The doctor decided to take me off my cholesterol medication because my cholesterol in numbers was 139 here recently. All my other blood work with cholesterol and triglycerides were way below the normal rate. I did not like the fact he decided not to take me off my medication because of my history of having high cholesterol in my past. This scenario seemed to be odd to me. What would my doctor do if my high cholesterol returns? I think my doctor would put me back on Crestor medication.

I was wondering if anybody else has not agreed with what their doctor had to say concerning health matters? Thank you.

I have not ever disagreed with my Primary Care doctor or any of my Internal Medicine specialists. I may have just gotten lucky, but I feel like my specialists and my primary doctor have always been in my corner. They listen to my input and pay close attention to how I know I'm feeling, rather than making assumptions about my conditions. I think that's very important to have in a general practitioner, and if you feel like your health may be jeopardized, you should listen to your body's advice. It may be beneficial to get a second opinion.

On the other hand, however, I have disagreed with a number of Emergency Room physicians who have tried to convince me that their degrees mean that they know my body better than I do...arrogance and ignorance have no place in medicine.

I disagreed with my doctor when he advised me to participate in a daily radiation treatment to remedy a skin condition because of my personal knowledge regarding the harmful affects of radiation. My physician was adamant about informing me of this new technology but had no accountability when it came to addressing the long term effects of radiation. Naturally I wanted my skin lesions to go away but not at the risk of contracting cancer from radiation.

Yes, I have had a disagreement with a doctor, more than once actually. Once, I was in the ER with my daughter because she had a cold, and eventually resulted in a migraine. Before they handed me our discharge papers, the doctor wanted to give her a flu shot. I gently declined his offer and he tried to guilt trip me! He asked "if she ever got sick and you did not give her this vaccine, would you be okay with that"? Needless to say, that was our last visit there, and we have since found a new pediatrician.

I have often times disagreed with my doctors, because they are always trying to shove some random medicine at me. Even though I do believe in some medicine, I believe it can be cured better with way more natural healthy remedies without the side effects.
