There is an ongoing battle between PC and Console users. If you are familiar with today's video games, I'm sure this is not the first time you've heard the controversies stemming from either side. PC gaming has hit an all-time high, with more and more people making the switch from console to PC.

Although I love console gaming, I just cannot give myself a reason to switch back. My PC has everything I need and more. I've heard infinite amounts of the reasoning behind using a PC over console, so I'm curious to see if there are any console users that could bring up any good points as to why you continue using a console for gaming.

I understand that there are video game exclusives to certain consoles, but that is truly the only reason I've been able to come up with. Do you prefer gaming on a PC or Console? Why?

I definitely think PC has the upperhand in this battle, even though there are a lot of factors at play and both have their pros and cons. I think consoles are as popular as they are right now simply because they're made for gaming only and PC are more complex than that.
In terms of hardware, there's no battle here, PC is superior. Consoles are limited to 24fps and 1080p as quality, so if you want to go higher than that you're going to be disappointed. I think in the future consoles are going to struggle to stay relevant, the only advantage they have is that some games like FIFA or Rocket League have a bigger playerbase, while on PC not as many people play those titles.
If you build your own PC (it's like Lego, not hard) you can get a better bang for your buck for the price of a PS4/XBONE, it's worth looking into it if you're on the fence about buying a console or computer.

None are better; both have pros and cons that cater to different needs for different people. I actively game on PC, console, portable AND mobile; and I can say that my favorite time spent is with PC and portable. But I couldn't keep my hobby without access to consoles and mobile either.

To be honest i would prefer console gaming. I grew up playing games on the PlayStation and Xbox consoles. There's multiple reasons I would choose console over PC. The hardware for the consoles are cheaper, you don't have to keep buying endless upgrades, you get to play it on a TV and I really don't like playing on keyboards. There the reasons i would prefer consoles over PC.

I used to play PC games a bit here and there, but overall I've always liked console gaming better. I also play games on my phone occasionally. I actually prefer hand-held consoles because I have better control that way. There's something I like about the screen being in my hand, i.e. PSP, PS Vita, Nintendo DS.

@jamesyu there really shouldn't be a battle between PC and Console gamers because neither platform is better.

Since the games I like are PS exclusives, at the moment I'll say I prefer Console gaming. That will change however when these games are available for PC.

There are many good games which are either Xbox or PS exclusives. This is what forced many gamers to choose between either the consoles themselves or between PC and console gaming. If all the Console games were playable on PC would gamers still buy consoles?

I still value the actual console experience. I feel like computers and constantly changing technology have taken away the significance of many things making them obsolete. CD's being an example of one, were prominent as the go-to replacement for audio cassettes until streaming made them obsolete. I know this comparison is a bit far fetched but my point is that user experience is a great part of gaming.

Playing NBA2k on a console is a great part of the experience because of the competition and comrade between players while using the console. I cannot confirm that online play or computer game play captures the true spirit of gaming among friends like a console does.

For me, it will have to be PC gaming. The graphics are usually head and shoulders above the console versions of games, and the functionality is better. I do sort of miss lounging on the couch playing video games occasionally, but then I watch my children play Skyrim on the Xbox and think of how much better it is when I see it on our computers. It's so much more smooth, less buggy in our experience, and the graphic quality just can't be compared even a little.

When I was a kid, I did both. But as I got older, I always chose console gaming. These days I can't stand playing games on my PC. But if I could ever get my hands on a game that I played on my PC in my childhood, then I would play it as much as I could. But other than that, console gaming all the way.

I started playing video games on consoles. In the 90's, I played a lot of games on my Sega Genesis. But when new games for that console started to become rarer and rarer, my dad gave me a PC. Since then, I have pretty much only played PC games.

The one thing I really missed from the consoles was the game pad. Playing with a keyboard was never as much fun as playing with a pad. But a few years ago, I bought a controller that was compatible with my PC. This solved the issue! Now that I can use a game controller on the PC, I don't think I'll ever buy a console again.

I have always played console games. I blame my parents for ever buying me that Nintendo NES because it opened up an addiction for me of sorts. It seems like from there it snowballed. I have played on every console available, I think. However, over the last couple of years, I have been glued to my PC! Who would have thought I would get out from in front of the TV and be in front of a computer screen. Definitely not me nor anyone who really knows me.

    Wait, where is Oregon Trail?

I think that it is more convenient to play games on your computer than gaming consoles because there are things that gaming consoles can't do that PC's can do, so I think that it is more convenient because you wouldn't have to switch devices to do something like check your E-mail. Another thing is that some PC's have more RAM and Storage than most gaming consoles so this means that you can store more games on your computer while having to not replace something like game cartridges or disks and also some computers don't need specific parts while gaming consoles on the other hand need specific parts.

I prefer PC gaming over console. I just like the controls more; keyboard and mouse. Though in the past I have gotten into some console games, but I just prefer PC. And since many games are ported to PC it really doesn't matter which you have.

I originally cut my teeth on the Atari 2600 (yes I am that old), and got hooked on a lot of the basic games on that system. I have only actually owned 1 console myself (N64), but could never justify spending $250+ on each new console just to keep up with the ever developing gaming world.

I have had a PC and a Console and I can tell you from experience that you can have fun with both if we talk about gaming. But there are more things that you can do with a PC that you cant do with a Console Even tho I started playing on a Console from 4 years I would prefer a PC. The PC has its cons and pros same does the Console.Answering a question like this in my opinion is impossible because everyone has different opinions.

And I would like to see some other Console lovers to bring up good points as to why they pick the Console over the PC.

I personally prefer PC, then again all I play is Minecraft. You could probably buy a used Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 for around 100$ USD and play games that have reasonable graphics for much cheaper then you could buy a computer that could play the equivalent PC games. At the same time however, buying the latest console for like 500$ seems pretty outrageous, since, like @Shammy pointed out, you could probably build a computer powerful enough to play those games for around that (and then you have a powerful computer for doing things other than gaming).

I know that there is also a lot of controversy over controls. Some people swear by their controllers and use them when they play on PC, yet I've tried using one and could hardly use it.

I'd say PC, a personal computer usually brings more advantages to a lot of things, and gaming is no exception in this case. For example, a Console may have 3GB VRAM, 4GB RAM, 6 Cores GHz (This is all an example, I didn't look up a console's actual build.) while a personal computer, if you have the money necessary it is possible to reach a much higher number, of course it's kind of silly to get the strongest possible build so it's much better to get just the necessary.

While also having that build advantage, their games can be easily modded (If the developer allows it) something else that the consoles have trouble with, they also serve more than one purpose than a console, for me consoles are just limited computers, I mean if you ever can't play a game for any reason in a computer you can always do something else.

I would say pc, since it is much more powerful, when you spent the right amount of money.

9 times out of 10 I would pick PC since it can do more than just gaming, however consoles have some really nice exclusives and are usually just as powerful for the same amount of money.

Well I have mastered both pc and console gaming. I started playing games when I was just 4 years old. I have to say that both of them have pros and cons to be judged with. But if I have to choose between them, I may go up with consoles.

Doubtlessly that consoles are, at first, the less expensive choice. The PS4 and Xbox One are both estimated around $350-$400, while your normal gaming PC may cost upwards of $800 (less in the event that you assemble your own PC utilizing a site like newegg.com). In the event that you select a gaming tablet, you could pay much more forthright.

As a fanatic of the Halo arrangement, and low maintenance PC gamer, I regularly wind up in somewhat of a problem. Do I purchase the Xbox One for Halo 5? Then again do I hold up, since purchasing a whole stage for one diversion is somewhat of a waste? It's a question numerous PC gamers wind up asking, as consoles frequently have the best selective diversions. While PCs have exclusives of their own, none are as prominent as Halo, Gears of War, and Uncharted.
