I cannot imagine a workout without a good playlist, especially when I'm going out on a run! If my playlist is old and boring I can rarely motivate myself to leave my bedroom. But when I discover new, uplifting music it feels like I could be working out forever!

What about you? Do you think that music can motivate you, give you an energy boost? If so, what genre do you usually pick? Perhaps you even have some recommendations?

Well, music is definitely important. I mean that's the reason why I go to this particular gym that I go to, because they always play the most amazing workout music. I tend to get into a rhythm while working out, and I've felt the power of a good rhythm during those last reps. Without the music, I probably would not have kept on going despite getting tired. Music adds to energy and there just is no two ways about it.

Also, when I workout on my own, I have my favorite songs (mostly grunge and rock) on my ipod. I click play and then forget about the world. I workout and don't feel tired unless my music stops, which is weird :p and also great.

Makes a huge difference for me! When I go to gym I always open the Spotify on my cell phone and set up a playlist for workout. It's a good distraction for who wanna work out hard. Makes me move, change my mood and ups my effort.

And all this is proved by science. There's a lot of scientific researches on internet :)

I can't workout without music, the boredom would be the end of me. I have created a number of playlists on Spotify for when I'm working out in the gym myself so I have only my very favourite tracks. If I'm in a class and the music is rubbish, I get so demotivated I can't concentrate properly and it's a nightmare - it makes the class drag on for what seems like days!

I love music alot. I hear music most of the hours during my day. During workout music plays a important role for me . Whenever i am exhausted I switch on to my favorite music; and gets a postive vibe and then back to workout. "Never ever stop".

The most amazing part of working out with music is you get lost in your own and dont care about the world; which gives you a amazing energy.

Music is very important to me when I work out! It gets me pumped up and motivated me to push further . Music puts that pep in my step and makes me want to conquer something wonderful like being very physical fit! I personally like some rock or some fun hip hop when I am working out to get me going! I love it!

I try to have a good mix and base my workout on the song that comes up. Plenty to choose from of various types. When I bench/curl, I like to have a nice Rap bassline type beat. If I'm doing dips I like something smooth like a John Mayer. Fortunately, I have a Planet Fitness so when I am on the elliptical, I can listen to ESPN or the History Channel while I workout.
Basically, I try to listen to something intense for intense parts of my workout and smooth beats for things I try to pace myself with.

Music makes everything better, including exercise. Having a favorite playlist or just listening to the gym playlist can actually motivate a better work out. Who has never been exercising without music and due to sheer boredom and quiet starts counting how many breaths taken, how many steps taken, anything to dull the monotony.

I honestly don't think I could exercise without music! I have playlists on my phone designated for each type of workout. I even exercise my horse to music. It livens things up, keeps the beat, and keeps me inspired to keep moving. Music absolutely defines my workout.

I don't neccessarily need music to workout, but is does help to pass the time when walking. On average I try to get in six miles per day and music helps as this is about a three hour walk. Many times I walk without music and just reflect on life, family, and friends. Other times I may listen to a playlist of energetic uplifting songs or motivational speeches, but I can't deny that silence is golden and it can get the mind's creative juices flowing.

Does your horse have headphones or do you use standby loud speakers?

When I am walking, I tend to listen to music. Besides that, I usually workout without music. If I listen to music while working out, I could lose count of how many repetitions I have done. I have this tendency to sing lyrics to songs which can be distracting. I need a clear head while I work out which helps me concentrate more. I tend to turn on music when I am cooling off.

I couldn't agree with you more. I have worked out without music before and I can barely make it five minutes. I literally have no motivation at all without music. It feels like my body can last a very long time working out with music. From what I have read, your brain gets tired and bored with workouts before your body even realizes it is tired. So yes music is definitely the key to having motivation to work out. It has to be fast, upbeat music otherwise it really doesn't help me much. It doesn't have to be any certain genre for me really.

I used to go to Planet Fitness and there were many times they were just playing the CMT channel for music and it was hard for me to keep going just by listening to that. So luckily I had brought my phone and headphones with me because I wouldn't have lasted very long for that workout. I don't know about you, but when I workout I do it to go as hard as I can. I want to put my all into every workout and without music there is just no possible way for me to accomplish that.

There is no way I can exercise without music. I have tried it and failed. Music puts me into the mood. It helps me when I don't want to exercise at all. If I have a beat, I will want to move my feet and that is what it's all about.
