It's sort of all over the place, isn't it? The amount of water one person should consume in a day. It's been eight glasses, six glasses. I remember a body builder friend of mine insisting that the human body needs three gallons of water a day to maintain health without dehydration.

On the flip side I've also seen countless articles that warn against over hydration and tell you that eight glasses is too much water unless you've got a medical reason to drink that much. So, basically, I'm confused and have no actual idea.

I love water (not my city's water, it's horrid and smells like chlorine on a good day) but I think when it comes to dehydration the real culprits are the non-water beverages we're drinking like coffee, tea and soda more than the lack of water intake. But, once again, just talking out of my rump and I don't know for sure.

On regular basis I drink approximately 6-8 glasses of water, it really depends on my thirst. Drinking 8 glasses of water which is about 1.9 liters is a very common advice I have always heard as 60% of our body weight is made of water. So it is very essential to keep our body hydrated. I don't keep a record on the amount of water I drink but I always try to keep a water bottle with me which helps me to be hydrated. I have also heard that other fluids which are taken by as are also counted for the amount of fluid taken in as they are also water based. So on account of this advice I can say that I drink at least 10 glasses of water everyday.

I love water. It is my favorite drink. I definitely drink eight glasses if not more. My family buys bottled water, so we go to the store often to purchase it. I am glad that I feel this way about water because soda and fruit drinks are not good for you. If we go out to eat, I order water every time. Even if we go to a restaurant that has a value meal, I will not drink the soft drink. Instead, I give it to my husband. You will only benefit from drinking eight glasses a day.

I love to drink water, I think I usually drink more than 8 glasses of water a day, I always carry with me a plastic bottle that I'm constantly refilling with water through the day, it's great because it keeps me hydrated and also I'm not feeling hungry all the time, in fact water is pretty much the only think I drink, I rarely drink juice or soda.

I don't really enjoy drinking water, so it's very rare that I will drink a full 8 glasses of water. Just like R. Schulz, I would much rather reach for the pitcher of tea. And really there is a LOT of water in tea, so atleast I'm getting a source of water from somewhere. ;)

My ideal target would be to drink 8 glasses of water a day but it's hard to keep count sometimes when you're busy with work or caught up in a particularly engaging undertaking. I do try to keep count whenever I remember my goal. Since I use a mug instead of the usual glass, 6 mugs of water a day is more or less equivalent to 8 glasses a day. But if I drink other liquids such as juice (soda and coffee not included), I'd count that as part of the 8 glasses.

It's difficult to maintain an average fixed in eight glasses of water a day (personally, I have an average of 5-6 glasses... not to mention other kinds of daily drinks: juice, coffee, tea, milk...), but this will also depend on the type - and pace - of life that each person has. For example: If you are a person who practices sports, you will usually drink more water (this will be a biological need, your body will miss h2o )... Different from a person who has so many daily responsibilities and usually ends up forgetting about this daily - and simple - commitment.

I drink as much water as I feel like whenever I start having a hint of being thirsty. I generally drink as much water as possible, without purposely reminding myself to "Hey, remember to take another glass of water." I do it naturally when I am thirsty, but make myself drink whenever I am a little thirsty. With this daily routine, I am pretty sure I drink much more than 8 glasses of water a day.

In my opinion the quantity of drinking water will be depended as per the climate of the specified area. In cold area your sweat will be very little and little quantity of drinking of water is sufficient. But on the contrary in hot area you will be compelled to drink a large quantity of water due to excessive of sweat and in this case drinking of above eight glasses of water is very normal and required.

I went on a diet a couple of years ago where they insisted that you should drink at least six pints of water a day. That's six big glasses.

At the time, I was horrified at the prospect as up until then, I rarely drank even one glass of water a day, preferring instead to drink squash, or coffee, or tea.

But I stuck with it, and did it every day for about two months, and to be honest, I did feel better about myself and lost a lot of weight, but it was hard to get that much water down each day.

I should definitely start drinking more water again, but not as much as that! It was very extreme!

I can say water is really good for your body and health. I don't think you can never have enough water. It keeps your body going and your skin looks great form in taking water. I like water but I like soda better lol.

I drink lots of water daily before indulging in coffee. Water helps keep the mind alert and body dehydrated. It is healthier than the soda which is laced with preservatives. I usually drink water from the tap, but will also buy water. After my workouts, I have a higher chance of drinking water more than anything else.

I for one truly love water. It is my favorite beverage. I drink a half gallon to 1 gallon or more a day. I find that it is good for the skin, hair and nails. Water is also an excellent lubricant for the colon and filtration for the kidneys. So come on, grab a glass: a hundred ninety proof H2O (water) you can't beat it.

I just can't do it! I try and try. I fail and fail. I am supposed to have 62 ounces a day and I am lucky to get in 32 ounces. It would be so much easier on my body if I would just do it already. I have tried flavoring it but that doesn't help me much. The only time I really drink a lot of water is when I have been working out or been outside working in the garden.

I drink close to eight glasses of water per day. I like the bottled water the best to drink than the tap water. There are many brands of bottled water in the store. I like the Walmart brand since it has many different flavors to choose from like strawberry and raspberry I also like the nestle brand of water but its more expensive than the Walmart brand. Water keeps me going when the humidity is high when the summer temperature is over 80.

I wish I could say that I do drink 8 glasses of water a day. Lately, I have been focusing on dieting and working out, so part of this means I am taking in immense amounts of water. I always have a goal of half of my body weight in ounces. I weigh 160 so I drink 80 ounces. The first few days were harder to drink the entire 80 oz, though now I am exceeding the 80 oz and leaning more towards 100 oz a day!

Water is my favorite thing to drink. I always have a bottle or glass of water by my side. It's the only drink that is refreshing to me!

I try so hard to drink at least 2 liters of water everyday, but honestly, I'm lucky if I get even one liter in. I just don't have the time to be going to the bathroom that many times a day. I know this is bad because I am an active person, so I should be drinking way more water than I am. I try to make water the only beverage I drink though, so that way I'm at least getting more than I would if I had a glass of iced tea.

Sadly, I have four degrees in the medical field and I do not drink eight glasses of water per day. I have spent most of my adult life having the concept drilled into my head, but for some reason, when it really matters, my mind just blocks it out. There is a very high chance that I block it out in favor of less healthy options, like soda and coffee. I am strongly drawn to highly caffeinated beverages, but I have four children.
