Some shows that I watch are How I Met Your Mother, The Office, OITNB, Friends, and That 70's Show and it seems as though I could watch episode after episode until I've reached the end of the series. I think that it has to do with the fact that the characters come to life and it feels as though you are actually living life with them. Their lives are fun to an extent, but mundane enough that you can relate to their lives and feel a part of it.

Movies, though, are much different in my opinion. I have trouble sitting still through a movie, much less finishing it. I think this is due to the fact that every movie has the same pattern to it: rise and fall, climax, fall and all of the characters fit the same stereotypes: villain, hero, sidekick, etc. Plus, because it's a movie, it has to fit all of the excitement that you could normally fit into hours and hours of TV episodes into 2-3 hours; which, makes the scenario and characters somewhat hard to relate to.

Do you prefer movies or TV shows and why?

Some time ago I appreciate watching TV Series particularly Korean Dramas. It's great to sit in front of the screen watching your favorite TV Series especially during your spare time. I like it in a way that it will give you the excitement on what happens next on the upcoming episode. Be that as it may, in some cases it's too long that I have a tendency to get bored particularly when it gets a year or so and I can't still see the ending.

Movies on the other hand are quick paced. The thing I like about movies is that you'll simply spend 2-3 hours the most and you can move on and watch another movie. You'll know whether it's a decent film or not. There are no loads of fillers at all like TV Series. Also, whenever I watch a TV Series, I certainly don't know when to stop particularly when the Drama is so great.

Movies or TV shows? Well it all depends. I personally enjoy TV shows because a television series has the time to go into the depth of characters and events. You can get to know the characters deeper, on a more personal level. You are able to get a clear understanding of what the writers are trying to convey. So there is time to see characters grow and almost become real.

On the other hand, movies can be better in many ways. Usually a movie has a bigger budget in getting a story told. A bigger budget can be beneficial. There's a chance to get a higher quality of storytelling with a movie budget. Usually the movie is working with a two hour time frame and getting the story told within those 120 minutes takes talent, great talent. The visuals are better, the characterization is better. Ideas can be summed up in a concise and tidy package.

I often find myself wishing that a movie was presented as a television series and a TV series was presented in a two hour movie. So it all depends on the story being told and what you want to get out of it.

Both work for me, I can watch movies over after a while, but a television show is great because the story goes on for quite a while. There are a few shows I have watched again after watching them all the way through to the end.

It depends, personally I prefer movies because often I don't have the patience to watch lots of episodes during my lifetime. Movies are more immediates and you have to spent only a couple of hours to watch one.

I think however that if a Tv series is catchy, i'll finish it faster:D

I don’t watch movies as much as I used to, I’m not sure why. I do like watching TV series, though, I think it might be the same thing that I got with books: I like to read long books (or book series) rather than short ones, as it gives me more time to get acquainted with the world and the characters. I like to see character progression and slowly find out more and more about the surrounding world.

It could also have something to do with the fact that I find mainstream American movies quite boring nowadays. It seems the plot is there to somehow get the characters from one action scene to another, and these action scenes go on for half an hour and cost dozens of millions. New comedies I won’t even waste my time on, everything I’ve seen and heard about them over the internet just tells me they’re not my thing. They just don’t make comedies like they used to… (just mentioned two of the best, imo, in my previous post).

That is a really good question @LyzeMoore and I have to say that my choice between movies or TV shows depends a lot on the company I have.

If I am alone most likely I will watch a movie because I love a well-told story. If I am with the kids I can also watch a movie, but the choice of movie will be object of debate between us three haha. If I am with the wife the choice will be a TV show because she doesn't enjoy movies that much.
