It's "definitely" for me. Nothing else I find more consoling than music. It had always been my constant company in both my ups and downs. I, honestly, can't imagine myself without it in my life.

It keeps me going when nothing else does. It directs me to a kind of state of mind, that simply drives me to imaginative and hopeful. It creates a strong bond within myself, that it helps me love and accept my own weaknesses, in a way that it strengthens me.

Music can create emotion, soothe emotion or make an emotion stronger. Listening to an old country song may remind me of sitting at the table with my grandmother, listening to her tell me about her day. This would make me smile and I'd sing along with the song. If a love song came on the radio it might remind me of a past or current love and could reduce me to tears either way. If I'm upset I would listen to either calming music or fast paced angry music, depending on what I wanted to feel after a few songs.

Sometimes you can't use words to tell something, they just don't say enough. That's where art is the only way to express yourself. Art is like magic, the science of manipulating symbols, sounds, words or images to archive changes in the consciousness. Music is the strongest form of magic, that's why it can give you comfort just as much as sadness.

I think listening to music you use to be one of my fathers past times. He and my mother would put the record player out on the porch and music would be blaring all the way to the next city block. All of us three older ones would get up on the porch and dance with them. Later when I started going to high school my father taught me how to do the polka while having fun with him. Those memories are still a part of me since music is
always going to be a part of my life.

Music is one of my passions. I love it because it has the ability to create, or soothe, in me a wide variety of emotions. It can create energy in me, like for instance if I have a house cleaning chore to do that I'm not particularly fond of and/or have been putting off doing it, I can turn on a song that I like and almost instantly feel energized enough to get started. Sometimes getting started on a chore is all it takes to complete the chore, at other times, constant motivation is needed, so I might put on and listen to a whole playlist of songs in order to get certain types of housework done in a timely manner.

If I feel stressed about something, I can put on some music and start to feel better. I can go from 'agitated' to 'really happy' in a matter of a few seconds if the right song is playing. Or, if I'm in the mood to just relax and enjoy a nice glass of wine, putting on the right music definitely enhances the mood, and can sometimes 'create the mood' that wasn't there.

I like to listen to I heart radio while I'm on the computer and helps me to stay focused. Also, I like to listen to nature sounds while I'm relaxing for the evening and reading a book before bed.

Music is powerful. I remember about 8 years ago, I endured a horrible breakup. I found one song that helped me get through it. I listened to that song every single day. The more I sang it, the easier it became to deal with it. Music that is uplifting and positive stay in a constant rotation on my music playlists.

Music gives me so much comfort because certain songs can mentally take me to a certain place, moment, or event of my past. For instance, there is a song that reminds me of the time when my parents were married and happy. I can remember as a small child, enjoying that moment and watching my parents dance together to a certain song that always touched my heart. Although they have been divorced for over 20 years now, I can still listen to that certain song and my heart just feels comfort and warmth by taking me to that place in my life when they were both happy and in love. It's ironic to know how I could be in a bad or sad mood and when that particular song comes on, it just makes me stop what I'm doing and just close my eyes to reminisce. That's just one song out of many songs that makes me feel so many different emotions. It's amazing how certain songs can change your mood to happy or sad. Especially those songs that really put tears in my eyes for those amazing moments.

Personally it just kind of brings up my overall mood, unless I'm under the influence, then I feel like I am the music :pBut my boyfriend told me that one time he had a super bad migraine and just sang Ticket to Ride by the Beatles in his head, until it went away... I wasn't really sure how to respond to that when he told me haha.

I usually listen to music when I'm under stress. It gives me peace, especially with the life I lead. I try to forget about the madness and put on my earphones and let the music blast away. I am quite addicted and do this often, although, I have other things to attend to.

I believe music can be a source of comfort for most. It can also cause awareness of a personal mood and provide other educational quality. It can better outline personality of the listener and also the music.
