Before internet came into our lives, the cases of depression already have an increasing trend due to life getting more and more stressful as time passes by. With the advent of internet, some people have found an outlet for their suppressed emotions. What they do not know is that lack of human interaction makes depression worse. People are social beings and that means they are meant to interact with people on a personal level. And I don't mean social media. I mean being physically present with other people.

Honestly speaking, depression becomes rampant in our society. I think it has something to do with the internet and social media stuff. I agree with what you said that it makes us isolate and not socialize to other people, even to our family members which can aggravate depression. Another thing is we look at other people's lives on social media and we start to feel jealous of the life that they have. We thought that they are happier and their life is perfect which is really not the case. The Internet has a lot of advantages but if not used in the right way it can totally destroy our lives.

It’s really undeniable how the internet has gone impact on our lives, it plays a big role that has made our life more convenient. But every benefit we get has accompanied a darker side if we do not know how to limit the use of the internet it might have caused our mental health. Some people may find the internet useful and helps in functioning their daily lives, but to some people, it may be damaging and compulsive.

People who engage more in chat rooms and enjoys a social interaction in the virtual world may seem to be depressed, according to a new study. They retreat from a real-life connection from other people and casually enjoy more on surfing the internet and social media sites but this could lead to the adverse effect on mental health issues. So the question is that “does the internet causes depression or the person having depression relies more on the internet to cure the depression?”.

In my opinion, people who get to be more addicted to using the internet might cause them to rely more on the virtual stuff, but we all know that there’s a huge difference of the reality and the virtual world. So when we get to expect what we want in the virtual world it might not be the same in reality that sometimes leads us to disappointment, thus, causing some people to be depressed. So if we do not have enough knowledge on how to use the internet, this may be dangerous to our lives.

I couldn't agree more on this. People feel jealous because they can see the life of others. When the reality is most people only post their happy moments, you can't really see someone post that they have a failing grade in school or they just got fired. Because of this, people who regularly browses their social media tend to lose grip in reality.

There is a big difference between the wholesome and entirely real physical presence of another person and the digital version. There is a lot of separation between people when you talk to them through the screen of your phone. And a lot of the feeling in connecting with another person is lost in translation. I think these lost feelings are also important in feeling fulfilled. So that, I think, is one of the biggest problems of conversation through the internet and why it could cause depression if your only interaction is through your phone.

The internet, especially social media, does contribute to depression and anxiety. So many people out there like to bully and be fake while hiding behind a screen. I've learned that I prefer the physical presence of a person over just spending all day sending texts. It's so easy to forget that with the internet, we see what other people want us to see. We take everything at face value a lot more than we should.
