I am a huge fan of Bacon but I know it is not good for my health. I know it can harm my heart because of its high sodium and calorie content. I heard the preservatives used to make it can cause cancer but I just can’t live without it. I do eat it in moderation because I know the damages it can do and I do not want to increase my waist size. I think if I ate more bacon on a regular basis I won’t fit in jeans in just few weeks. I am also a huge fan of soda drinks. I know that they have too much sugar and can cost diabetes but the fizzy sensation and sweet taste is really addictive.

My favorite unhealthy food is potato chips. It is so hard to stay away from them when avoiding carbs. I also like any other dishes with potatoes included in the recipe. I like French fries, potato soup, and breakfast casseroles. I also love pizza which can be unhealthy depending on the toppings chosen.

I can relate to you in the French fry area. I know the potato itself is not bad, just the amount of oil it takes to fry them. I tried eating potatoes in my stir fry, but I still have the same craving. I have also tried baking them, but I am still using too much oil. Currently I am considering the air fry which uses only a few tablespoons of oil. However, I think my craving for oil, salt, sugar and bleached flour will leave once I start eating more fruits and vegetables.

We're pinched on the delight of eating sweet, salty and rich foods that taste and smell divine. When we consume the junk products, it alters our metabolism and we desire them. The food industry fuels our demand through advertising.

Many of these preferences are good memories of childhood, which enhanced our love of junk food. The extreme flavors actually change the impulse centers of our mind causing us to crave for these junk foods.

These foods are promoting disease and never create wellness. I am addicted to many of such junk foods which are not beneficial for health. These include wafers, potato chips, fast foods, etc. The food industries usually receive fat bottom lines and we get fat bottoms.

Crisps are something that is hard for me to let go. I can finish a bag in just one sitting and I know it is bad due to the high salt content but very hard to stop. What I do to try to avoid eating too much is that I avoid the crisps section in the grocery so I will not be tempted to buy one in the first place.

I wouldn't be able to let go of chocolate. After a long day, nothing can beat the velvety, melt-in-your-mouth taste of a creamy bar of chocolate. It's a comfort food for me, which is probably bad for my health but I try to make up for my chocolate habit by eating less of other unhealthy foods.

Most of my favorite junk foods tend to be sweets. Lately, out of all my favorite sweets, hazelnut spread has been the worst one of them all. I cannot resist the goodness of the chocolate taste of it. It is so indulging, it is addicting. Most times, I cannot steer clear from it by no means. I also love chocolate chip cookies, soft serve ice cream, chocolate, cake, and icing. Yeah, I am so bad when it comes to sweets. not to mention that my blood pressure is more towards the lower end. I show many more signs of hypoglycemia more than hyperglycemia. It may be genetic because my grandma had it. I also believe my mom has it because she gets like me. We both feel light-headed and irritable if I don't eat every few hours. I believe majority of it is because my body needs it. Fruits don't do it for me, because I get sick from certain ones. My top favorite salty, junk foods are burgers, fries, Pizza Hut stuffed-crust pizza and fried chicken. I think me having lower blood pressure may cause me to crave all these salty, fried foods.

Oh where does one begin? So many things I eat that are not good for me. And my teeth are testament to this. My biggest regret is the amount of coke I have drunk over the years. Even having lost all my top teeth, what is my goto vice? Yep! Coke. And now that energy drinks are sold at every corner dairy and supermarket, these come in second place. And coming in a close third is chocolate. Not just any old chocolate though. Here in New Zealand we have a brand called Cadbury's. And it is absolutely, by far, the best tasting chocolate ever made on earth. And the chocolate bar that is my must have is called a Flake. I recently went a week without a chocolate bar, and in the last 3 days of that, chocolate was on my mind almost constantly. Sugar is a necessary evil in my book.

Meat, I just can't. What the hell are they saying that meat make you cancer, my god it's impossible for a guy to stop eating meat.

I think I will die eating meat.

My unhealthy food weaknesses include fried foods, sweets and chips. The main culprit is sweets. That could be candy, cookies, ice cream, cake and sometimes pie. Sweets can be either store bought or homemade. It does not matter to me. Fried foods are like a special treat I eat every once in a while. I've tried replacing potato and corn chips with pretzels, but it just does not fulfill the craving.

My total weakness is bread. I bake my own and make it as healthy as is possible; adding handfuls of nuts, pips, seeds and high fiber grains, avoiding any white flower. But living without that smell and taste of fresh warm bread in the morning is not for me!

It has to be ice cream for me because of the cool, smooth, sweet sensation it provides. It is also available in so many flavors that it's always fun to try something new. A few of my favorites are mint chocolate chip, cookie dough, and anything with brownie pieces. It puts me in a good mood to eat ice cream too because it's associated with being a treat and fun, and eating it in a cone makes it extra fun. Dressing it up with toppings also adds flavor and a fun aspect.

Dairy is my hard to give up food. Just find it so hard to remove it from my diet when I see it so many recipes with it. I enjoy chocolate milk, cheese, and cream in my coffee above all. There just isn't something to replace it. Though there are may alternatives out there, I just haven't found one that is as satisfying.

I can't let go of salty potato snacks. I literally start getting jittery if I don't eat some at least once a week. I love the taste of salt mostly and salty potato snacks is the best way to satisfy my craving for a salty snack. They're the best snack to eat on the go and they're easy to pack. They can also calm my hunger if I'm really hungry on a long trip specially if it's a long bus ride. A nice bag of potato snacks and a cold drink is the best way to go for me.

Like fergus12345, I love Bacon but my absolute favorite snack is chocolate. Growing up, I used to hide bars of chocolate underneath my pillow because I did not want to share them with my siblings. As an adult I constantly find all types of excuses to indulge although I know I should limit my intake. I tend to substitute the actual chocolate with everything else that is chocolate flavored ( chocolate ice cream, nutella, chocolate cake, Oreo, etc.) and so am convinced that I have a chocolate addiction. What surprises me the most is that I cannot stand sweets that do not contain chocolate, when I have to decide between sweets without chocolate and salty snacks I always opt for the salty snacks.

You're all struggling because you're all mentioning foods that are addictive in general.

Meat, sugar, caffeine, milk and chocolate are some of the most addictive foods available. There's a reason for this. They contain opiates or opiate like properties. Plus what someone else mentioned; the incessant advertising we get making fast food and other bad food look really nice when it's actually nothing like the advertisements.

Here's an excerpt on cow's milk about the opiates in it:

“Casein, one of the proteins in milk, crosses the blood-brain barrier and becomes something called casomorphins. Yes’m, that sounds a lot like morphine—because casomorphin is also an opiod. Nature designed it that way so young mammals would enjoy nursing, come back for more, and live to reproduce themselves.” “Human milk has only 2.7 grams of casein per liter. Cow’s milk has 26. And because it takes, on average, ten pounds of milk to make one pound of cheese or ice cream, you’re looking at a lot of casein and resultant casomorphin.” The result can be a major opiate addiction that can cause people to have serious withdrawal symptoms." (source)

It is completely possible to live without any of the top addictive substances. I quit dairy (as well as all other animal products) 10 or so years ago. I had quit meat a few years before that.

There are plenty of alternatives that taste just as nice.

One way to put yourself off animal based opiates is to watch a movie called Earthlings, or any other video showing the reality of what happens to land those products on your table.

As for sugar - there are sugar free drinks (some are nasty I admit but some are good enough). It's just about finding the one you like. Took me a while. I still am stuck on Energy Drinks and the odd Tango now and then but I've cut down my sugar intake via drinks considerably. It was my moaning dentist that got me to do it.

I am very guilty of loving cheese, it got to a point where my doctor insisted that I give it up for at least half a year, which was horrible for me. I also love my butter, salt, and potatoes, which all of the above led me to have high blood pressure. I learnt a valuable lesson and had to cut my eating habits quickly, but the cheese and potatoes are a struggle.

The first thing that comes to my mind is Swedish Fish. I can control myself to not purchase any when I go grocery shopping, but I have no control when I receive it as a gift.

I got a pretty large bag of Swedish Fish for Christmas, and it became an empty bag by Boxing Day. I just have a love for red licorice, yet Twizzlers don't stand a chance against Swedish Fish if you ask me.
