I am aware that the title sounds provoking.. but the thread itself IS provoking.

Sometimes, it can happen that when you're watching that movie you never heard of before, you suddenly have that feeling that it will enter your Top 5 just by watching the first few minutes of it. I haven't found the correct term of it, but I could personally explain this as a form of «hype», where the introduction of the said movie is either emotionally challenging, or thought-provoking in a way that you're already questioning modern social aspects or even your own life. Well, I might be exagerating, but depending of the movie, it could be true.

Personally, I'd like to talk about my all-time favorite movie named Sucker Punch. I didn't even get to check the overall ratings of this movie before seeing it, and I still think that the ones who rated it under 3/5 either didn't see it entirely.. or were paid to downvote it.

So, what's so good about this movie's introduction ? I won't spoil anything important. As stupid as it might sound, the beginning of the story is about a father that's willing to abuse or harm his daughters after he found out that their dead mother's heritage will be sent entirely to them. That's the first part of the movie's introduction, and after you've seen it, you'll already feel bad for the two daughters. But, the most important part of it is the end of the introduction; a stare. A stare between one of the daughters and another girl. A stare that means it all. And that's after that stare that I knew that I would watch this movie over and over without ever achieving it without chills all over my arms and my chest.

Sometimes, it's not always about the ending where everybody lives happily and the last scene is about seeing the bad murderer yelling at the prison's guards to let him get out. Or is it ? What do you think ? Have you ever judged a movie only by its first minutes, if not seconds ?

Not often, but i have had experiences during which i was very enticed and intrigued by the movie to a point where i would assume that it was going to be a masterpiece, but unfortunately i was rarely correct since regardless of how beautifully the movie was shot, or how impressive and meaningful the dialogue was, a few things can break a movie such as : bad character development, an ending that feels forced or executed poorly. As for the movie you have mentioned, i didn't enjoy it as much but after reading your statements in regards to it, i'll definitely give it another try.

I entirely agree, especially on the movie-breaking points; the ending being totally botched, characters being not developped nor interesting.. There are many ways to f*ck up a movie, and most of the film directors have a lot of ideas to do so.

Damn, that put a smile on my ugly face. Thankju ! Keep me updated about it !

Sure. That movie will be 3 idiots. Got drawn to the movie from the very beginning. When Chatur was calling the friends together to know who had achieved more between him and Rancho.

The fact that they all left what they were doing at the moment, which included aborting flight plans all in a bid to meet Rancho, makes you start wondering what was so special about Rancho.

Were there things special about Rancho? Definitely. The narrator at the beginning told of how he came to school and went against the norm in almost all situations. Isn't that what we all want? To break away from the rat race, to live our lives to the fullest, to do things we feel like doing and at the end not have regrets about things not done.

The movie was worth it till the very end. Educative, captivating, enlightening, instructive.... It is definitely a must watch for all

Absolutely! The Fellowship if the Ring had an atypical beginning that instantly told you that you're in for something truly special. It also set the tone for the rest of the movie.

Another movie that comes to mind is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Everything scene was something previously unknown to the silver screen. Aaaahhh good times.

Fist fight this is a movie by Ice cube a famous actor. The movie within the first five minutes had already grabbed my attention thus leaving me with the urge to know what’s next. Teenage life in high school is reflected in the first minutes of the movie thus waiting for more about life in high school.
