For certain and this rule applies to most and across the world that there should be a distinct separation between church and government. However, there are still published reports showing the mitigation of these two. I created this post as a platform for everybody's ideas and insights and I hope that I didn't get myself a way to receive distasteful, hateful, and or threatening thread reply...;)

To start with, I am not opposing religion and Christianity on whatever reasons. I even belong to a religious congregation that I love. I even stand in the principle of "speak what you think". But I am not in favor and highly opposed to religion or Christianity being the impetus for policy and legislation in a secular, multi-faith-ed society. What I am suggesting is we create and support a system where political decisions are made based on arguments that stand on their own merits without a religious crutch.

I am a Christian through and through but I strongly agree with what you're saying. There should indeed be a distinct separation of the church and government, it's even a part of the constitution of many countries, but it's not uphold or followed the way it should. The thing about this is that the church serves God above all, while the government serves its people. That itself is already showing a big gap and difference among the core values of these institution and what they stand for.

I may feel sad about many people nowadays not believing in God, but its their personal standpoint, and they should be respected for that. Since they are a part of the society, their beliefs should also be taken account when political leaders consider laws they make. Everything that the government does must be for the good of all its people, not the selected few. It's not right for legislators to quote the bible, quran or any other religious books to prove their point. They should be upholding the constitution, and nothing else.

History has already proven to us more times than we could count, how unhealthy and wrong it is for the church and the government to mix. Not only was it deadly at times, it also prevents others to practice their human rights. Political leaders in every part of the world must really put that in their mind if what they're striving for is to achieve what's best for their country.
