    My fiancee had severe headaches. When he went to the emergency room, they told him he had spinal stenosis. You should get it checked out, to be sure. Spinal stenosis is when your spine shrinks and smashes your spinal cord. Whatever you do though, if this is what you have, make sure they don't replace your spine with a metal one. Get laser surgery.
    But, it may not be that serious, you may just not be drinking enough water or it could be something you're eating.

    Two of the most common causes of headaches are not having caffeine if you normally have it every day and dehydration. You mentioned going to the beach and having to leave because you got a headache. If it's hot out and you don't stay hydrated then you will get a headache.

    My daughter gets migraines with auras and sometimes has seizures. Excederin headache medication helps her get relief.

    Irritation of Dura matter causes severe headaches. In order to treat this, yu have to do one of the following;
    1. You have to rest very well
    2. Take non- steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen. This depends on your your health status.
    3. If symptoms continues, clinical check-ups will be better. This must be performed by a certified clinician.

    Headaches are a "No" for me. I never experience them.In fact the cure and end of headaches is water intake. My brother use to have severe headaches that could last for weeks,he went to different hospitals to get help.None of the hospitals found issues with his system. We almost gave up on him since all the medical tests were negative. The headache kept on recurring.
    However, one doctor called him aside (We held our breath ) He asked my brother if he had taken any water recently. He confirmed he hadn't been taking any. He was requested to take two glasses immediately. Ohh my God,he was healed. The problem was dehydration that was long overdue. He has never experienced such headaches again. He now smiles to the fullest. He is now an ambassador for water intake.
    I advice anyone too who has had migraines and headaches to try the natural medicine that's water.Try at least eight or more glasses per day and you will never get fatigues, dryness of the mouth and skin and you will bade sicknesses goodbye.

    Do you drink alot of caffiene? It could possibly be a caffiene headache. If not.. I would go to the doctor to get checked out. You could also have a headache coming from your spinal cord. Its not going to show up on a scan. Good luck!

    @faithb, there are various reasons for getting headaches. Just observe and make a note of all your activities and food habits for a month or so. Whenever you get a headache, check your activities for the last 2 days before that. You should get some idea. Consult your eye doctor and make sure your eye sight is ok. It may also be a reason for your headache. Wearing glasses can solve your problem.

    Watching any kind of electronic device like TV, Laptop, Mobile and Tablet for long hours can also cause headaches. Eating food at odd times may also be a reason. If you don't get a relief, it is always better to consult a doctor.

    faithb,
    There is a lot of possible cause of severe headache. Maybe you are suffering from migraine as what I've always experience. You mentioned that you sleep eight to ten hours, well I want to let you know that over sleeping can also caused headache. There is also a possibility that you have an eye problem so you have to see your ophthalmologist if any. My piece of advice is, you have to see a doctor as soon as possible because taking medicine without doctor's prescription is dangerous especially if you are taking mefenamic acid it can damage your liver if you take it frequently or any pain reliever.

    As what I have mentioned earlier I do also suffer severe headache especially if I have lack of sleep and if I am stress. All I do is to take a rest in a quite room means no television turns on or music and I take plenty of water more than eight glasses of water a day the better. Instead of taking pain reliever, I rub my head with any menthol ointment to ease the pain and do a little head massage.

    There are a lot of factors that can have direct influence on the frequency of headaches you mentioned you have been experiencing lately, such as: increased intake of alcohol, consumption of processed foods containing nitrate, lack of sleep and poor posture. If you have not indulged in any of the activities listed then you ought to consult a doctor since your condition could be far more severe than you would assume and it's always better to insure our health is well to perform to the best of our ability.

    There could be a number of reasons why you're experiencing this. They could be caused by dehydration, ear infection, acute sinusitis, which are only a few of the mild problems causing this. It could also be due to other severe problems, but I don't want you to panic for no reason since you haven't undergone any tests yet.

    As a professional medical practitioner, what I can advice you is go to a doctor, preferably an Internal Medicine specialist. You may be experiencing this for no serious reasons, but it's better to be sure than knowing nothing absolute about right? If it is indeed something serous, early diagnosis and treatment would surely benefit you a lot.
