It seems like we're all in a constant state of hustle and bustle. From catching up on emails, rushing through errands, checking Instagram every 10 minutes and keeping up with our personal lives, it can be tough to remember how to simply unwind and relax even before bedtime.

So, what can you do to start getting a better night's rest?

If counting sheep hasn't been working for you, consider listening to relaxing music to help you clear tour mind. putting on some calming tunes just before bed can help you fall asleep faster, wake up less during the night and feel more rested in the morning. Still not sure whether music can really help? Here is a way music has been proven to help improve sleep quality.

    Music lowers Your Heart Rate

Did you know that relaxing music can have a direct impact on your physical state? Music has the power to lower your heart rate and slow your breathing. Try listening to slower-paced, soothing pieces in the classical, jazz and folk music genre that have a rhythm of around 60 to 80 BPM. Similar to meditation, relaxing music slows down the activity of the nervous system, which will help decrease anxiety and lower blood pressure.

Need some song inspiration for a sleep music playlist?

    "Think Out Loud"

    By Ed Sheeran

    "Stay With Me"

    By Sam Smith

"Love Me Like You Do" (from Fifty Shade of Grey)

    By Ellie Goulding

    Any idea is welcome........

I think it depends on the person. I never use music to go to sleep. When I was a kid, my Dad on Sunday used to pipe music throughout the house thirty minutes before we had to wake up. learned to hate music when I was trying to sleep. Listening to music to go to sleep only works when I am dead tired, and then I don't need the music to go to sleep.

What makes me fall asleep easier is some kind of white noise like an electric fan blowing. I always take one on trips where I stay in motels, because sometimes the A/C unit cuts off leaving no white noise in its place.

Indeed. Music as I have known it rejuvenates one soul. I listen to music to connect, to concentrate, to meditate and to enjoy.

I like most of the genres, but the one I love the most are the classics. These songs fill my heart with gladness or sadness. It depends on what the song is all about or what it entails. I find it very meaningful than the ones we have as of today. I am not saying that they are nonsense or what not, I just personally have the passion for classics.

As a person who suffers insomnia, I can tell that music helps me sleep. I just let my music player on repeat to my favorite melo songs. There are also times that I couldn't sleep when no music playing on background. It is just so good to know and a little help to me that somehow music helps me relieve and prevent those sleepless nights.

For me, Yes. I always listen to music every time I'm going to sleep. I have a playlist with kpop songs. Most of them are ballad. I also have an app with rainforest and animals sounds. And you can also combine them. It really feels like you are in forest. I have been doing this for more than a year now.

Yes, it's helps me a lot, because I'm a over thinker person, and having insomnia, musics helps me a lot to control my mind and to be relax. before I sleep, some instrumental songs needs to be play for better sleep. I really love to listen to the flute musics, or sounds. So I decided to do some meditation also while the musics playing on the backgrounds, and it's working to having a peaceful sleep.

Music is like a food to my soul. That was so deep! Aside from books as my sleeping pills. Listening to music while reading is the best way to sleep. I've always listen Christian songs. They always make me feel relaxed. It was like I can sleep without hesitations. Songs who have great lyrics about God is like a bible. Listening to it is like reading a Bible. It increases my faith.

It helps a lot, specially I have insomnia. Before, it's really hard for me to sleep, but when I started to listen to some flute music, I feel relax and easily to fall sleep now. I accidentally watch that video on YouTube, and then try to listen with my monitor off, and suddenly I fell sleep even the video is still playing. starting that night, I used to listen to that song or music before go to sleep, and it's really effective. That music helps me a lot to not become over thinker at night, and also helps me to calm my mind and body for better sleep.

@braveyard ,I agree with you, music can help us relax and relieve us from modern life stresses. I love your selection of music,I used to listen to Ed Sheeran before bed and I found it soothing. Nowadays I listen to jazz before falling asleep, usually a full album that goes for around 45 minutes. I may fall asleep in between the music. I love jazz because it is purely instrumental and this is great because sometimes I don't want to listen to words that may invoke certain feelings or ideas.Jazz also helps me think clearly and helps with my creativity. Here are some albums I would recommend as a starter : I hope you enjoy.

I absolutely believe that music can help a person sleep. I say that because of my personal experience with it. The best type of music to listen to that will help anyone fall asleep would be classical music. The best way to play it is to keep it playing low in the background as you lay on your pillow and begin to think quietly to yourself. I'd say maybe twenty to thirty minutes in and you will be sleep. I have used this method for my children when they were newborns. Something about the softness of the instruments that message your brain and relaxes it gives you peace of mind. This may not work for those with restless syndrome but it is my secret weapon for those hard to fall asleep nights. Taking sleeping pills while you lay and listen may help you fall asleep even faster. Yes, I do believe that music can help a person fall asleep. I prefer the classical music!

Scientifically music is now known to relax our minds and I honestly believe in this study because I use music to make myself fall to sleep. I'm suffering from Bipolar Disorder and I also experience Insomnia during the nights and I am really having a hard time going to bed. But with the help of music especially the classic ones it relaxes my mind and makes myself fall to sleep. Just to add more information about sleeping you can also try ASMR videos on youtube I really find them handy if I can't fall to sleep.

On my own experience its a yes. Whenever I can't sleep during late night I just get my mobile phone and plug in my earphones and listened to soft music. It will takes me to hear random songs for about 15-20 minutes only and that's it. Music is composed of different types of tones and melodies that relaxes our brains naturally. It exercises our mind softly and controls also the mood of everyone. I just can't imagine those people who loves to listen with metal or even hard core songs, but still its their choice whenever to sleep. But for me, I rather choose love songs or classical genre because it smooths entire body especially at night. Listening to music also mix our emotions and that's why we cannot blame ourselves whenever we relate ourselves to the meaning of song.

Music holds the key to more than just sleep in my personal point of view and from experience as well. In fact, the power and influence of music is past just this physical realm but also the spiritual one as well. Music can do wonders in one life, as well as helping over with sleeping problems and disorders. The best way to go about getting the best from listening to music, is finding the actual music that connects with your inner self and you would feel like being taken out of this world.

In truth, I have had my own fair share of inability and difficulty to sleep easily. I think it started when I was running one program that demands I wake up every day by 3:00 GMT in the morning to attend one online session. So after the program ended, I started experiencing some changes in my body and sleeping habits. I always find it difficult to sleep easily, and once I do, I would still wake up around 3 am. This was a very serious problem for me at the time because it affected me in several ways, I was losing appetite as the day goes by and I started slimming down as a result of less sleep and shabby feeding.

It's was a good friend of mine that introduced music therapy for me. At first, I was really convinced it's was going yield any positive results but with my trial of the therapy, it really worked well for me and I started to enjoy my sleep once more little by little. This saved me a lot of worries because I started wondering if something else was actually the reason why I was having difficulty with sleeping. A lot of negative thoughts like high blood pressure cropped into my mind but I was very happy that it wasn't what I was actually visioning.

Before using music therapy for sleeping troubles, I have always used it for relaxation and cooling off when I'm angry and pissed. In this emotional pain situation, listening to blues and rock music does the trick for me. It has the ability to reaching down hard into my soul and soothing any shred of anger and animosity within me. It's only music that has the power of influencing me in this manner.

Now, I always make use of music every time I desire to have a good sound rest, I would would just put on a cool blues song, and as it plays it would serve as a lullaby by putting me to sleep with utmost ease like a baby or a toddler. This is how powerful music can be in getting me to sleep quite easily and also aiding in calming my nerves whenever I'm tensed up.

YES!!But the kind of music you choose makes a difference. Music that has a relatively slow beat may help your body hit its internal snooze button. “If you play Guns 'N Roses, chances are low that it will put you to sleep.

Lullabies aren’t just for babies they’re
great for adults, too. Using soothing
music to wind down before bed each night is perfectly acceptable even encouraged as a relaxation technique.
It turns out that bedtime listening can
even help people with sleep disorders by boosting sleep quality and quantity . The benefits may not happen overnight it can take as many as three weeks to see improvement, but listening to music pays off. Putting on some tunes can help you fall asleep faster, wake up less during the night, and feel more rested in the
morning. Music can help sleepers of all
ages, from toddlers through the elderly,
    at naptime and nighttime alike.

Music helps you in having a great sleep, particularly if you are living a stressful life.
While on your bed music fights with your stress and thoughts, it can take you somewhere else and while there you fall asleep.
These are the scientifically proven things.

When I was having trouble sleeping as a child, I used to listen to cassette tapes with recordings of my favorite cartoon episodes on them to help me sleep. It wasn't too often, but it did help. Then, as a high school student, I started listening to the radio with the volume down really low. For some reason I suppose the background noise helped me shut off my brain.

For years after I graduated, I didn't listen to anything as I was falling asleep. Now, most nights, either I or my husband have a podcast playing as we are falling asleep. You'd think having children would leave you tired enough at the end of the day to just drift off haha.

Yes! but not for all. There are many constraints
which effect sleep.Soft music at very low volume is
little supportive, but not everyone should
apply this.It has its prons and cons.

Yes and am saying this based on experience and knowledge of science. They say music is medicine to a troubled soul and one can't sleep if they are unease so when you listen to music it sort of calms you and then you are at ease hence you can be able to sleep.
