As an Eastern European, i was bombarded by foreign movies, to me, English speaking movies included, and as such, I really have no troubles watching movies with subs.

Its a good way to learn any language with some subtitles. We can get more information about a language by paying more attention on it.The movies with subtitles are always interesting and enjoyable to me.By paying deeply attention on the subtitles one could easily learn many sentences of different languages.I think so that it is a nicer way to learn more foreign languages with subtitles.

I enjoy subtitled movies, but it depends on the genre. I think it is difficult at times to watch comedies that are subtitled because you miss a lot of the nuance and humor. Even with dramas there are times when the subtitled is too precise and misrepresents the true meaning of what the character was saying in their native tongue. As I became more proficient in spanish, it became really obvious how flawed subtitles can sometimes be at really expressing the small details of character development.

I agree with you on dubbed movies. One of the things I extremely silly was a time a few years ago when I was in Central America and went to see the movie Rio ( an animated movie), which was dubbed into Spanish. The part that made it extremely silly is that all of the advertisements had Johnny DeppĀ“s name attached to them but when you actually went in and saw the dubbed version, it was a voice very different than Johnny Depp doing the lead character.

Yes I Enjoy it. I'm a huge fan of Korean and Japan movies, drama and anime. Subtitles makes you understand every single word they say even you cant understand there language. I enjoy also the historical setting, cultural traditions, costumes, weapons and the fighting styles. Subtitles just take me right out of the story.

Yes, I do enjoy it! especially when Anime series turns into movie. I prefer to enjoy movies that, came out from the books. Because, it become more interesting, when the book was written, and make it into a movie with accurate story line. Harry Potter movies were the good movie, I've watched. Though, I didn't follow the parts of the movies, and a good movie.

I forgot what is the first movie in Harry Potter. All I know to the movie was so mind-blowing, and creative to the viewers. Yet, the movie itself, still on the top of the list of every good movie.

In some ways, yes, I am enjoying it. Aside from you can easily understand the movie, it can also help you to boost or enhance your language or your grammar, you can also learn how to multitask and you can remember thoroughly the character's name. Also, I'm the kind of a person who doesn't want to miss a word or sometimes actors mumble a lot and you can't make out what they're saying, and other times it's the thick accent you cannot understand or there is background noise.

I remember being younger and watching many foreign films with subtitles. At that time I was more interested in the storyline, and of course the subtitles were necessary to understand what was going on. Later in life, when I decided to learn French, then actually listening to the language was more important.

I now find that reading the subtitles, which help a great deal, actually hinders the actual learning process, as most times I'm just reading without really forcing myself to understand what's being said. In fact, sometimes it's more productive switching them off.

I do not find subtitles to be visually appealing. They distract you from the movie to be honest. Words and visuals do not go together, the eye should fully enjoy the visual beauty of a movie. The subtitles impair your ability to fully enjoy the beauty of the movie. Words are processed by one side of your brain and visuals the other side so I think that is why it is such an uncomfortable and unenjoyable experience. It confuses your brain are we reading or processing the visual aspect of a movie ? I say visuals should be seperated from words.

I am used to watching movies and shows with subtitles because I have been a pretty big fan of foreign movies since childhood. I can understand why subtitles bother other people, but personally I would prefer to watch a movie in its original language. Now this doesn't mean I'm against watching dubbed movies, but from my experience the dubs are usually not as good.

I have been watching foreign movies with subtitles for a long time. I was hooked to Chinese movies though some were luckily dubbed in English. However, many of them were not dubbed and I watched them with subtitles. Then I began also watching Bollywood movies which even when are dubbed use subtitles in their songs.

Yes, as long as the content of the movie is worth watching. English is not my native language, but I can understand English really well, so I prefer watching Hollywood movies without subtitles. I don't mind foreign language film because I'm into quality content, whether if it is relatable or interesting and I also don't mind reading subtitles while watching because honestly, I did not find it that hard.

There are so many great international movies that you need to watch such as the Bollywood movie Three Idiots, the Korean movie the Wailing and the Japanese movie called Nobody knows. All of these movies are great, the story, cinematography, content and the acting are overall exceptional.

Yeah! I have always loved to watch hollywood movies since when I was a kid. I used to watch them with subtitles before, because even though I know English it is not my native language so I used to skip most of the dialogues while watching the movie as I wasn't familiar with the tone and pace of their speaking. So subtitles did really help me get the whole movie in one watch easily and I really enjoyed. Then I started watching without subtitles when I got along with their speaking and it helped me improve my language too.

These days also I watch some Korean and South Indian movies with subtitles and I must day it's always fun watching foreign movies to change your taste a bit.

I wouldn't say I love or hate them perse due to the following reasons.

If it's a nice movie and you would like to understand what's happening then the subtitles go along way to help you in that.

But subtitles also happen to obscure your concentration on the main images in the tv.

To me,they are a necessary evil in foreign movies.

Films from another country and/or language cheer me up, because I realise that there is another world out there with another completely different culture, some things that mystify me. I love the original 'The Grudge' movie, a Japanese supernatural horror written by Takashi Shimizu with sub titles, but showing a completely new Japanese horror film style.

So, I love even the Bollywood movies with sub-titles, very long and romantic, because it shows me not a pop-culture, but a true-to-form foreign love story with a beautiful ending.

Sometimes I do. Subtitles provide some form of clarity. At first its challenging to read the subtitles and watch the movie at the same time but as you progress it becomes incredibly easy and fun.

Well, I have to say that sometimes it's can be a little bit annoying to watch movies with subtitles, but on the other hand, there are so many good foreign movies that I don't want to miss. I love French cinema... There are so many great movies lately coming from France. One of my favourite of all time is Blue is the warmest colour.

Yes, I enjoy foreign movies with subtitle. I am an avid fan of watching korean movies and one way to enjoy their movie is by the help of subtitles. There are also English dialect movies which are so hard to hear, but thanks to subtitles. It helps those people enjoy watching the movie with ease.

I'm currently learning French and watch movies whenever I have free time. French cinematography is beautiful enough that I could sustain myself to watch a film that I could barely understand. One of my favorite shows, Skam, a Norwegian teen drama uses subtitles, and although could be a bit grueling, is still one of the best shows I've ever watched.

I really don't like watching foreign films with subtitles.I find it hard to multitask between looking at the screenplay and the subtitles.People are different I guess there are those who can perfect the art of multitasking and there are those who get too tired to try.

Actually no. Because if I want to read, much better to buy a book. I think I just wasting my time watching movies with subtitles. I can't focus to the movie because my eyes is just looking at to the subtitles and read every words come out from the monitor. So instead of I enjoying the movie, I ended up very disappointed. And all I need to do next is just to wait for that movie to be available again but they should already translated it to my native language or English, so I able to understand and enjoy the whole movie.
