    I was wondering if anyone wbo is a talented artist has done or would do the above: Giving up a stable livelihood such as a paid job or business to follow your passion in the arts. By art, I don't mean drawing or painting alone but other aspects such as crafts, drama etc.

    Let me share something about myself. I grew up drawing and sketching from my early primary school days in just about every exercise book I could lay my hands on. I turned whole notebooks into comic books and sketch pads. This continued till I completed high school and wanted to go to college. I attempted going to study fine art but was stoutly resisted by my family.

    Two decades have passed and yet I still feel that pull from time to time. If only I could draw back the hands of time, I would study art from the outset in college and start on the right foot. I have worked for various firms till recently, when I set up my own business. Maybe this would be the best time to pursue my passion, especially now that I am running my own show?

    That wouldn't be easy though! A lot of effort has gone into getting this ship started.

    What are your thoughts?

    To start with, am a talented artist and giving up the best of careers for art wouldn't be a great sacrifice given the passion i have for art. I am aware of the tough journey that comes with getting oneself diverted from a well paying job to starting artwork. With passion it won't be as discouraging as it sounds. You just need to put effort and drive it down your way. It always works for me!

    I wouldn't quit a well paying job for the sake of art. However, if said art is promising enough in terms of income I would consider doing it full time.
    'Life is good when you do what you love' is a phrase worth rembering when making this choice.

    Quit a well-paying job for art!!. are my a good artist? are my talented and artistic, will I make a good livelihood doing art?
    These and many more questions would be the questions i would ask my self if such thought and offer came up, and if i could answer these questions without slacking, i would consider the following two important thing when making futuristic decision;
    1. First, I have to know if my impacts and presence will be felt if step into the world of art. Because I cant work where I cant be significant and efficient enough to be one of the best, hate been hidden and subdued in any profession, if after analyzing, and art is seen as a job that would lighting this aspect of my life I then decide on going for art.
    2. How long will it take me to break even in the art industry! , this is very important to me in making decisions, I would always forecast the futuristic outcome of such decision, if art seems feasible in meeting up with some specific targets in place within a certain period of time then I would consider quitting a paying job for art.

    Well, art is something that stays with you all your life and we can never think of living a life without pursuing the art you love. However, it is always not possible to give your time for your art when you have different duties and obligations to fulfill. Sometimes your prorities change according to the circumstances in your life and you dont find enough time for your art.

    In my case, I had to temporarily give up on my singing completely due to my duties and obligations towards my family. It was a very difficult time for me when I was unable to do the thing that I loved the most. But after some years of staying away from my music and doing a job which I had no interest in doing, I resumed my singing. Once I started singing again I never felt that I had given it up for a few years. I guess when you love something very dearly, it never goes away from you.
