All the programming languages are very lucrative, but I would rather go for Java because it is more lucrative in terms of job creation and also it runs on billions of devices, unlike c++ and python.
What amazes me about Java, is that it is used to develop android applications which put you in high demand as a java expert.

    I disagree.
Learning a language is relatively easy, if you know the programming concepts like algorithms etc. Understanding core principles of programming is more important, than a language. You can learn a language, but you won't be able to use it simply because you lack knowledge in programming itself.
On the other hand, if you know the programming concepts, you can pick up a new language in a matter of days or weeks.

Also, Java is overrated and has newer stronger competitors.
You can get better job offers by studying programming for Mac and iOs, since the latter gives you mobile platform and because only Mac owners can learn that. Simply put, there is a platform and developers are limited by the hardware to learn the skills for it.

There are a ton of people studying Java and learning Android. Once they are tired of trying to make next angry Birds or something, they will get the proper jobs. All the universities got quite late on Java craze, and still teach it, even though JavaScript would be a better choice right now. JavaScript is far beyond web-programming and deserves all the attention, in my opinion.

Skills to go for: programming concepts and complex programming algorithms. If you master it. you can apply it anywhere in the field, despite the language and industry requirements (automotive vs game development, for example).
