The classification of video game addiction as a mental disorder is under debate.

In the newly-released Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V), Internet Gaming Disorder has been included among the conditions being considered for future study and possible addition to later DSM editions. At this time, however, video game addiction (GA) is not considered to be a mental disorder. Yet research suggests that 0.5 percent of all gamers and 1.7 percent of ninth graders experience symptoms associated with excessive video game use.

Yes, video games are addictive in such a way that no one stops that person from it and informing the huge effect of this kind of addiction in her/his life sooner. Nowadays, many children from 5 to 15 years old are prone to video game addiction as a research in uk. However, this issue is always end at one point, control and discpiline from parents. Video game addiction is tolerable even in its early stage and not only children but also adults that most of their time are spent in playing video games. The must control it before this device ruin their lives and forcing their future on a bad state. Even if it is the issue, I alaways pla video games on my self as my recreational and free time habits. I always feel the enjoyment and excitement when I doing this.

That is definetely a big yes.I recall during my early years that I myself has been a victim of video games addiction. I even spent all my school allowance just to fulfill my itching to play. Those years, it seems like everybody is hooked in to a particular game. There is something in video games that is fulfilling and makes you crave for more once you see the "Game Over!" screen.

Not to mention that today, graphics had improved dramatically and there is so much games to choose from. The stimulating effect of games is really, really strong that if anyone will not control himself or herself, then the enslaving effect of gaming will surely corrupt that person.I have seen so many individual sacrificing their meal just to sit in front of a computer and just wasted their time crazily pressing the keyboard buttons in a ligthning speed manner.

There are surely Pros and Cons about video games but the fact remains that it is very addictive. Ask any millenials today if they played video games of any kind and I can assure you that they will answer affirmatively. I think gaming is here to stay and since technology is advancing on a unprecedented scale, video games will surely improve more and more. Those catchy images, professionally made games popping out of your screen makes you think you are in the other world and the power to control it is overwhelming and satisfying.

So, are video games evil? Well, it will always depend on the point of view of every person. But I firmly believe that everything in excess will be poison. If a person is enjoying hitting that game button and does not cause any harm in himself or any other being, I guess there is nothing wrong in it. But of course I think we all have to mind the word "discipline" and "moderation." Apply this and maybe, we will never use the word "video games addict" anymore. Just call them "Gamers".

Well, it's up to you if you will be addicted on video games. But for me, it is a definitely big yes. I still remember when I was a kid I'm very addicted on Playstation and almost don't want to go to school just to play. I'm only six years old when I start to play a video game. It was fantastic and unforgettable. And it's more happy and exciting when you play together with your friends.

The first video game I've ever played is "Devil May Cry 3". I've played it without a memory card so I'm always stucked at "Mission 14". Sounds funny right! Then followed by "Resident Evil 4". I didn't play this game alone because it's very scary! So I'm always playing this game together with my friend to gain such courage. And this is not the only games I played. There's a lot of popular games that I tried out.

Yes, I believe video games are very addictive. I play myself, however, I don't get caught up into a game like some of my friends do. I don't like how some people seem to lose their will to do anything else in their lives. They lose interest in friends and family and some don't want to better their lives as far as employment or career. I saw a news cast the other night about how much of a problem this is getting to be. I believe this issue does need to be addressed because it hurts a family that has a member in this situation. Unfortunately, I believe it is like other addictions where the person with the problem has to acknowledge that they need help.

Yes, Video games are really addictive once you find the right game category. The same happened to me. I didn't like video game much until high school, after that one day I played a role-playing game. Till then I could not stop myself from playing RPG games every day. And, also I tend to download or try every new RPG game I hear the name.

Funny thing is I am not good at playing, so I use cheat codes most of the time to complete game levels.

I think games are extremely addictive. I was addicted from a very early age, because it was an escape to forget about the stresses of school and daily life. I remember playing my Sega Mega Drive back in the day, and I was hooked. I was very young, but nothing stopped me from zoning into the screen and playing for hours on end.

I think it can be really unhealthy for adults and children who use gaming as an escape route from life. Games can also be fun, but I think there should be a limit to how much you play on a weekly basis. If you sit at home all day generally playing games, then you are not socialising or interacting with the outside world, and that can concerning.

Video games addiction is sure a hot debate. Despite the fact that research has shown that it may not really be a mental disorder, it is quite clear that some(most of us) gamers can hardly say no to gaming. Thus, clearly depicting the fact that there is addiction in gaming.

It comes out crystal clear that a gamer will only think of gaming as the best option during leisure. Which will then lead to him/her spending the leisure time gaming.

Yes they are addictive. Video game addiction is an impulse control disorder, which does not involve use of an intoxicating drug and is very similar to pathological gambling. Video game addiction has also been referred to as video game overuse, pathological or compulsive/excessive use of video games. Personally am an addict and am still struggling with the addiction. It has gotten to a point that I skip meals just to play games.

I believe some video games can be very addictive. I think this is because the better graphics of modern computers allows us to become almost fully immersed in a game, losing sight of the world around us. This is problematic because we then do not want to return to the real world, causing some people to be unable to tear themselves away from a computer screen.

Video games are very addictive and they can lead to learning impairment if abused.
Some video games are so addictive that children do not want to leave them to bathe, eat or sleep. They abandon homework and quit studying for test or exams to play video games. This is how addictive video games can be.
Parents need to monitor their children when they are playing video games during school time to ensure that these games are not causing long term dependence and addiction.

Yes, especially when you look at what the symptoms of what a addiction are, it becomes pretty clear. When people are addicted to something, like drugs for example, they start to suffer from withdrawal symptoms. When those addicted to gaming are forced to stop playing, they start thinking about it all the time and start to become very low energy. And then when they are finally reunited with the game they are the happiest person in the world. Surely we all know somebody like this.
