I would like to say I am one of those sophisticated people who would just stare at a painting in a gallery and just zone out, but I am not. I'm sure you've met people who genuinly get emotional (for luck of a better word) by just looking at a painting and can actually describe the work of art in ways you didn't know were even possible. People say that a work of art should be able to speak for itself. Any attempt at explaining, elaborating or interpreting it will belittle the work. I'm wondering if there are any art enthusiast out here and who are your favourite artists and some of their work.

I do not understand some art, however I love to view art. I love some paintings and find it so appealing that someone can paint people and things and let them look so real.
Some persons are willing to pay a lot of money for some art and paintings. I would not spend a lot of money on art . It does not matter how beautiful it is. I guess that is why some artist are broke. It is now a dying profession. Leonardo Da Vinci was the hit in his time . He earned a lot of money from paintings. However nowadays young people do not revere art or artists for that matter.

I agree with you Earnt, unless artist start forging paintings and passing them for Da Vinci's and Picasso's work, then the art world is doomed.
We are in a time and age where surviving as an artist is more difficult that any other job(I believe) and adopting to the new art market is almost impossible.

Haha, I like this thread, very much! Every time you feel like spacing out in front of an art work, or you simply don't know what to make of it, I can tell you for sure that the artist has had the very same feeling when creating that respective piece of art [?], especially if we're talking about modern day artists [gosh, golly, don't get me started on that topic:cool:]. But even so, that being said, there are quite a lot of interesting things worth looking at out there.

The screen is from an anime - it's hand'drawn, frame by frame. It's nicely written too.

You are not alone on this one. Don't get me wrong, I love the paintings just for decor other than that if you ask me their deeper meaning, I honestly have no clue. All in all I respect the artists though.

My favorite artist is a local artist. She was my art teacher and she sold a lot of her work. Her name was Gayle Ballanyine. She did water color painting and she was my hero. She has given me a few of her paintings. Oh one more thing art is not a thing to be understood. You just have to appreciate it, if you can do then your just as good as the next person!
