Growing up I wasn't a fan of the shows, then one day I started watching The Bold and the Beautiful with my mom and I was hooked. I then started watching all the CBS soaps and Days of Our Lives.

Currently, the main ones I watch are The Young and the Restless, and The Bold and the Beautiful. B&B has been on a role lately, while Y&R has become stale.

Do any of you watch soap operas?

I used to watch All My Children and I enjoyed it very much so that was one of my favorites back in the day. I wasn't a huge soap opera fan but I could sit through All My Children and Days of Our Lives. Some people in my family watched some soap operas and one of them was All My Children. Right now I don't watch any soap operas like I did before.

My first Soap Opera I ever got interested in; was Dark Shadows. I was in 6th grade at the time and my grandmother who was visiting for a week, was watching it at my house. I asked her what show is this? And she said it was a spooky soap opera. So naturally, I became interested. Next thing, I was hooked on the show. Today, I am a big fan of Days of Our Lives. I know the show has been on for more than 40 years, but I started to watch it six years ago with my mother. My grandmother was also the one who got her hooked on the show 40 years ago. Any other Days of Our Lives fans on here?

I started with Sunset Beach, then moved to Wild Rose, Lady of the Rose, Bold and the Beautiful, Young and the restless and Forever. Please note that some are Spanish soaps with English translation. I then got bored and started watching sequels like neighbors, sons and daughters among others. I am now back to Spanish soaps.

I almost don't have time to watch a television specially when my little business did started I cant even watch a news . I've given up to watch soap opera since last year , I'm more focused working online and dealing with my customers online and offline .

I grew up watching Young and the Restless and All My Children with my mom. I started to hate them as a teenager. Then when I became a stay at home mom I started watching All My Children again. That lead me to watch Young and the Restless. Eventually I started watching Bold and the Beautiful and General Hospital too.

I agree that Bold and the Beautiful is very good lately. The storylines have been so captivating. I have just been fast forwarding through most of Young and the Restless though. I was heart broken when All My Children was cancelled. General Hospital quickly became my favorite. It is the only one I never miss.

The Young and the Restless has been going downhill ever since they hired Chuck Pratt as the new writer. None of the storylines make any sense and they're ruining most of the characters.

I agree, Carol. I am not positive, but isn't he the same one who started AMC going down hill? I seem to remember Susan Lucci blaming "Pratt" for the cancellation.

Regarding Y&R, it was just too much having the collapse, the plane crash and the murders all at once and now this fake Jack story has completely lost me. I don't mind crazy soap stories but when you completely change a characters personality I don't want to watch anymore. Kelly was not a likeable character but she was not crazy. Victor has always been vicious but not toward his family. Phyllis is way to smart for a phony to be parading around as her husband. I could go on and on.

No, I haven't yet. But would love to if any of you could light some shine on this topic. Much appreciated! Also recommend some shows for a beginner like me.

I am hooked to TV because of Soap Operas. Even when I am in the internet I find myself watching them. If a Soap Opera is interesting I don't mind watching it more than once.

Pratt used to write for AMC and I'm beginning to see why nobody likes his work. Between the cabin mystery, the fake Jack storyline, and ruining the characters; everything's a big mess.

Yes, I love soap opera very much. My first soap opera was The Bold & the Beautiful. I grew up learning that Ridge is the Bold and Taylor is the Beautiful. I loved them together so much when he would call her "doc". Next, I loved One Life To Live and All My Children. Can't believe they are no longer. Anyway, nowadays I watch The Bold & The Beautiful, The Young & The Restless, Days Of Our Lives and General Hospital.

I fell in love with the soap operas when I was in class five. At first I found it hard to understand them because they were too detailed but with time, they became part and parcel of me. I couldn't do without them until now I still love them heartily. My first soap opera to watch was called "MY THREE SISTERS." I loved it and it created a lifetime urge for me to watch more soap operas.

I am from the UK and we have our fair share of soaps on television. I used to watch ALL of them lol but then common sense took over and I've now narrowed them down to four. I do have a favourite which is filmed in a rural location. To me it's the best one but I would say that wouldn't I?! I did watch Sunset Beach as that was shown over in the UK around 1997/1998 if I remember correctly. It was so bad that it was actually good.
