I have been taught to be careful what I speak or say because there is life and death in the power of the tongue. So I find myself being cautious and only speaking favor upon my life and the lives of others. I have noticed that if I believe someone is speaking negativity towards me, that I have not associated myself with them as much, even if it is family. So does anyone else believe that their words have power, and how has this affected your relationships?

I live with my in laws who used to abuse me verbally. They still do but I have learned not to 'receive' it. If we shut out the negativity, it will not affect us. It will not help if we run away from the situation.

Running away sometimes creates stress in itself. I am continuously learning not to receive the negativity also.

Not everything that other people can affect you especially if what they are saying its only to wish you wrong. There is a saying in our country that whatever other people talk about you wont be written on your face that people will go around reading. There is power in the tongue it can curse or bless it depends but i don't pay attention to that.

This post reminds me of a saying I first heard of in school when a teacher was trying to teach it to a boy that was being bullied saying "sticks and stones can break my bones but words will never hurt me" but catchy as the saying is I do believe that words can hurt a lot especially if you are a person that has a lot of insecurity.

In Titus chapter 3 we are taught toslander no one, be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone.

Power of the tongue is absolutely powerful. I was told that a tongue has no bone, but it can break or make someone.
How you speak will either directly or indirectly affect with everyday amenities.
How you even tell or speak to yourself will enable you to reach to your potentials and hence we are always told to speak positive thoughts because your mind will pertake it. (Positive mentality)

I do believe in the power of the tongue. I am a Christian and have been taught that my tongue in a powerful thing. In the book of Proverbs chapter 18 verse 21 the bible says " What you say can preserve life or destroy it so you must accept the consequences of your words."

The bible still warns about lies which are also made by the tongue. So I do believe that whatever it is that you proclaim with you tongue will come to pass. Whether it is a good thing or bad, that is like a prayer to God. And remember that God answers prayers made by his people.

So watch what you say about yourself and others because you may not want the consequences to befall you.

Yes,I believe in the power of the tongue since whatever comes out of a person is first contemplated in the heart where the springs of life flows from.

Nonetheless, a negative word towards you is only a reflection of the speaker and it cannot impact on you unless you allow it to get in your heart or mind.

You are what you speak of. Every word coming out from your mouth describes who you are. Say good things and people will conclude your a good person. Speak bad words and your bad as well. Every word that comes out from your voice box affects the person your speak to. Be responsible enough to be careful of what you say for you will never know the things that run on others minds.

I believe speech is among the greatest gifts that God gave to human beings , man being the only creature with the ability to communicate effectively with his mouth. Human beings having being created in the image and likeness of God, we posses the same ability as our creator , where God has given us the power to call things into existence by the power of the tongue. Most of the time we speak out what comes from our hearts and this well defines who we are and where we are headed in our life's. It is through the power of the tongue that we are able to shape our own future and create a life of spiritual fulfillment, abundant health, enriching relationships and outrageous wealth.

Whatever you say you possess. I believe that the most powerful weapon is not even a nuclear weapon but words. Positive words inspires and propels while negative words robs and suppress. Most of the time we put so much energy saying negative things about ourselves forgetting that they will impact so much even the way we think.
