    1. Cut Back on Sugars and Starches
The most important part is to cut back on sugars and starches (carbs).
When you do that, your hunger levels go down and you end up eating much fewer calories (1).
Now instead of burning carbs for energy, your body starts feeding off of stored fat.
Another benefit of cutting carbs is that it lowers insulin levels, causing your kidneys to shed excess sodium and water out of your body. This reduces bloat and unnecessary water weight.
It is not uncommon to lose up to 10 pounds (sometimes more) in the first week of eating this way, both body fat and water weight.
The low-carb group is eating until fullness, while the low-fat group is calorie-restricted and hungry.
Cut the carbs and you will start to eat fewer calories automatically and without hunger.
Put simply, cutting carbs puts fat loss on autopilot.

    2. Eat Protein, Fat and Vegetables
Each one of your meals should include a protein source, a fat source and low-carb vegetables.
Constructing your meals in this way will automatically bring your carb intake into the recommended range of 20–50 grams per day.
Eat 2–3 meals per day. If you find yourself hungry in the afternoon, add a 4th meal.
Don’t be afraid of eating fat, as trying to do both low-carb AND low-fat at the same time is a recipe for failure. It will make you feel miserable and abandon the plan.

    3. Lift Weights 3 Times Per Week
You don't need to exercise to lose weight on this plan, but it is recommended.
The best option is to go to the gym 3–4 times a week. Do a warm-up and lift some weights.
If you're new to the gym, ask a trainer for some advice.
By lifting weights, you will burn lots of calories and prevent your metabolism from slowing down, which is a common side effect of losing weight.
Studies on low-carb diets show that you can even gain a bit of muscle while losing significant amounts of body fat.
If lifting weights is not an option for you, then doing some cardio workouts like walking, jogging, running, cycling or swimming will suffice.

I presume to lose weight tantamounts to losing excess fat. I am at a loss to understand why people spend lots of money on excessive food intake and resultantly become fat (weight gain) and after being fat spend thousands to lose the accumulated fat. Will it not be better to eat to survive than to survive to eat.
This game is of intake control and burning calories. My way is to eat everything offered, but in small quantities, work a lot and do little physical exercise daily and I am fit and fine.

Keeping fit entails a healthy balanced meal with a lot of exercise. Excessive consumption of meals containing fats may lead to obesity. There are so many different ways of loosing weight; healthy diet involves eating different varieties of meals with a balanced ratio. Accompanying the meal should be enough water ranging between 3-6 glasses per day. Secondly, working out your body also helps to keep fit. One can take morning runs or lift weights during gym sessions. This helps to burn fats and calories which accumulates in our bodies and end up being toxic.

The first step to lose weight is to evaluate the reasons for gaining weight. The next step is to do the opposite. If you were eating too much, reduce the intake. If you were relishing high sugar containing foods, avoid it. If you were doing a low physical activity, change it. Walk more, run a little, do the in-house simple bending exercises. DO NOT PUNISH YOUR BODY.

You must remember that you did not gain weight in a day and so cannot lose it in a hurry. Continue with your new lifestyle on a low key but for a long time. Do not stand on your weighing machine every now and then. It is best to lose the weighing machine for at least 90 days. You will find significant weight loss after 90 days which will boost your resolve to lose more weight. Your next weight checks must be in a gap of 30 days. The desired results will trickle in surely. Good luck.

Losing weight i must say is pretty tough. Especially now that i am stuck at home a lot- almost everyday of the week. But, i try to put in some effort, for instance, i cut my sugar level to say just about 5 teaspoons a day. I also drink plenty of water. With this i hope to maintain a healthy weight since exercising is not really my M.O.

I agree with you since losing weight depends on decreasing the input and increasing the output. This low-carb diet is more practical and comfortable than the low-fat diet, but we should increase the output of calories at the same time by doing exercise. Trying to lose weight, don't forget this advice from santanu which reflects his practical thinking:

I pretty much do the same as you Famsin. There are so many diets on the market today that it is hard to find one that works for you. I just believe in finding a way to lose weight that suits the individual and that is sustainable and will produce long term results instead of a quick fix.

At the moment I am also trying to lose weight and what is working for me is taking ginger, apple cider vinegar and cinnamon. Add a teaspoon of each in a glass with some water, take twice a day and you will be surprised at the results.

Not only will your apatite be suppressed but these spices will burn your fat away too. Keep in mind that living a healthy lifestyle in everything included e.g. exercise, diet and drinking lots of water. The most important part of losing weight is finding a method that works for you and is not harmful to your body. What methods are you guys using to lose weight?

The best way to lose weight is having a diet low on carbs and saturated or ¨bad cholesterol¨ and cardio workout. Reducing the amount of sugar you consume daily will really help you lose weight. Doing things such as avoiding soda drinks, use one sugar bag in your coffee instead of three or four, drink more water and natural juice with little amount of sugar will do wonders. Consuming too much sugar will make your pancreas work too hard on creating insulin to reduce the level of sugar in your bloodstream, also those extra amount of sugar will convert into reserved energy (fat) in your body. Talking about fat, saturated fat, or LDL or bad cholesterol are those fat that get stored in your body and also in your veins and arteries. Food like burgers, fries, hotdogs has lots of saturated fat and should be avoided in order to lose weight. You should eat unsaturated fat such as avocado and dried fruits , those have ¨good cholesterol¨ which takes those fats from tissues and veins and arteries to the liver and eliminates it. A cardio workout is very good to lose weight and improve your cardiovascular health. You can workout 4 times a week for half an hour each day and you will lose weight and be much healthy.

The best way to lose weight is to honor your body and recognize the importance of aiming to get your body to a better version of itself, not to get your body to look and/or behave like someone else's body.

On a practical level, finding a diet that you can live with is crucial, and it's okay to experiment. Failure is just feedback. If one plan doesn't work, troubleshoot and create or find another. Eat less and eat better (high quality foods that both taste and feel good to you). Some people do well with lots of salad, while others do well with lots of meat. Everyone is different. Portion control, in my opinion, is the one thing that is universal. Too much of anything is rarely good.

Exercise doesn't have to be killer. Daily walks can be enough at first. Then, with confidence, those daily walks can turn into jogs or sprints or bike rides or hikes. Who knows? Do the activities that you enjoy because it's important to keep active after you've lost the weight.

Whenever I face the mirror, I always ask that question to myself. In addition to my everyday sentiments, I was diagnosed with PCOS or the Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, so I think of a better solution to solve this illness of mine. So I listed the following do's and dont's to lose weight, effectively and immediately.

    Do's:
    1. Avoid eating too much carbohydrates. Because when carbohydrates broke and dissolve down in our body, our sugar intake will increase.
    2. Cut down your intake of pastries and sweets. It can also increase your insulin level.
    3. Do not lay down on your bed all day. Jump out of bed and do some stretching.
    4. You have to avoid also the eating processed foods like hotdogs, ham and bacon. Also the processed drinks. It is very unhealthy.
    5. Drink plenty of water.

    Dont's:
    1. Eating a lot of rice.
    2. Too much intake of pastries and sweets.
    3. Drinking sodas.
    4. Not doing any exercise.
    5. Always dining in at fast food chains.

Hey.. Leave your Lamborghini or the Mercedes at home and walk!Instead of watching that your lovely fiction movie,, take a walk around your estate. Increase water intake too and avoid junk as much as you can.
Note..don't deny your body food but just take reasonable portions.

Many people say that the best remedy to lose weight is to stop eating.

And I would say stop eating badly or just take full account of how many calories we eat and how much we burn and take action on it.

I was impressed when I heard that M. Phelps, (the star of the Olympic games in swimming), among other meals, ate weekly, a good number of hamburgers, with all its corresponding fat and that he could do it because, in the total of hours that he trained a week, he burned a number of calories higher than what these burgers represented.

To know how to get these accounts right we could be supported by some nutritionists who tell us the caloric content of some foods and then we make our weekly menu.

I’m currently in health and honestly, what I have learned, is America is doing it wrong. “Eat less, workout more”. Nope. “Eat less fat, and nothing with cholesterol”. Nope. I know it sounds weird but cholesterol and fat aren’t bad for you. All you need to do is make sure you eating food (yes, with fat), fruits and vegetables, no added sugars, and no empty calories.

You don’t have to count your calories because not all calories are the same. Fruit and vegetables usually have more calories than junk food, but the calories are different. Junk food is empty calories. As long as your eating healthy (no fast food, no donuts) you won’t need to worry about calories.

Sugar is a big no no. It ruins your liver for starters and Americans especially are consuming way more than they should be. Foods that are fat free usually have more sugar because it makes the food taste better after all the fat is taken out. When your body is consuming all that sugar your liver has no idea what to do with it and turns it into sugar. Sugar drinks like Gatorade are only good during and after a workout because that when you need the sugar. Any other time it’s doing more damage than good.

I’m sure there’s other ways to lose weight but this is just what I’ve learned so far.

There are many ways to lose weight and different things tend to work for different people. I would suggest eating an appropriate amount of food based on your goal weight. In addition, I suggest eating more fruit and vegetables and less dairy. Dairy can also lead to bloating, so I suggest avoiding it altogether. Exercise is also a very important factor. I suggest doing a mixture of cardio and weight lifting for the best results.

Over the span of 3 months, I managed to lose a total of 5kg, which is equivalent to about 11 pounds. Until now, I've been maintaining my weight.

It's all about the diet. No, I did not starve myself. Right now, I have my ideal body and I could not be any happier. I cut down on carbohydrates, and started eating more vegetables and fruits. I have 3 servings of fruits daily. Also, meat is still essential for the growth of your muscles. Besides that, control yourself from snacks, no chocolate, soda drinks, etc.

I think the best way to lose weight is self-discipline. You must try to restrict yourself from eating unhealthy foods and regularly exercise at least 30 minutes. The number of calories you take in is also important because eating a lot of food even though your work out every day would not help you lose weight effectively. But do not hurt your body through starvation because the body needs food to function well and stay healthy.

There is this dieting where one eats One Meal A Day (OMAD). There is no hustle of cutting down on any nutrients. The intermittent fasting has 23 hours fasting and 1 hour window of eating in a day. I found this appropriate for me.
