Seeing a dentist twice a year is important because it is necessary to make sure you don't have any tooth decay and you don't get any periodontal or any gum disease. It is also necessary to get your teeth cleaned to remove all plaque and tartar that builds up and causes problems.
It is best to bring your child to see the dentist at age one. The reason for this is that is when the first teeth start to come in and it is important that you be educated on how to maintain those teeth at an early age.
It is most important that you are comfortable with your dentist because it's a very personal relationship, so you need to have a good personal relationship. You also need to make sure they are a member of the American Dentist Association.

 

It's hard to bring you kid to the dentist. Most kids are afraid of the dentist. They end up crying.

Start saying good things about the dentist to your kids. Let them know the consequences if taking care of the teeth was overlooked. Cite good examples. Show them pictures that show dental problems. Emphasize the pain they will go through if they don't visit the dentist. Tell your kids that the dentist will make their teeth stronger. Encourage your kids that they can eat more chocolates without worry after visiting the dentist.
