Usually, I think the books are better. There are exceptions. I liked the movie version of Fight Club more than the book, for example.

I almost exclusively like the books more than the movies. When I read a book I imagine things in a very particular way, and when the movie doesn't line up with that it leaves me feeling almost like I was wrong. I watched Divergent after reading the book, and to be honest, I imagined Four being much cuter than he was in the movie. I mean, in the book he's a strong, handsome teenager, but in the movie he looks like a war-hardened thirty year old! Really, though, I rarely ever take issue to the plot of the book vs. the movie. I just don't really pay much attention to the story.

Books are much more preferable to me rather than movies. Books promote creative thinking and they also give you a wider imagination compared to movies. I would rather read a novel and create characters in my mind rather than watching them. The fact that books will give you a much detailed information compared to movies which after all are after entertaining keeps me eager to know what happens next. Also being able to read even while traveling is another reason while I prefer books to movies since watching has power limitations.

I personally love watching movies more then I love reading books , reading a book can be really fun and enjoying it takes a lot more time then watching a movie , while movies can last to 2 hours , the effects are really good in most action movies , while reading a book you can always imagine what you read... But books or still better , you can learn more with books , every sentence that you read will help your vocabulary and you will feel smarter for every new word that you learn , plus it can be a good experience to use your imagination more frequently..

Uh, a very difficult question. Maybe I would say - Movie.
Actually the both are unique. I am really a big fan of the movie, but this certainly does not diminish my love of books as well.

This topic was really a good to talk for, I really wonder why others says it was good if you read it on books, and others says it is good if we watched it.

As for me, I am a fan of any books that has a good story, I am very addicted to it I enjoying reading it, but when a books adapted into a movie I prefer to watch it than reading it in a books. Yes books is more detailed and the story is really complete, but in a movie I see the characters moving, I feel I'm in reality, and it really catch my attention. I also love to watched when I know I can see who the characters are their image, the way they move and other, in books you only imagine the image of the character, you don't see how they move and how they act their character.

So for me I prefer to watch movies than reading it.

I would totally choose the books. Movies can't exist without the books.
I'm not saying that movies should be erased because it's not like so. But a book is the base of a movie. Most of the times the film directors are following the books' storyline. It's not a rule but everyone knows this.

This thread is very interesting because nowadays that internet is on trend and books were just being left behind. Honestly speaking, I prefer reading a book over browsing the internet. Let's be real with a fact that books really contains lessons, knowledge and wisdom for humans to acquire. You can also acquire books as a collection, at least you can always read your favorite ones whatever and whenever you want. And that could be memories also or you can share it with your some friends. But I am not saying that browsing the internet are not good, it's just there is no guarantee that when we browse the internet,we will surely go for applications and sites that is educational and functional, there are times that we use Internet just to play games which might cause addiction. And that addiction can lead for being unproductive, because there are tendencies that we'll just gonna play all day long and forget to do household chores and some important stuffs.

I watched fifth shades of grey, and I really, enjoyed the movie, over the book. I also watched half of fifty shades of ungray, when I felt to sleep on fifty shades of ungrey. I really truly, enjoyed the movie better, more characters, it is almost like watching it in person.

I always like watching movies, instead of reading books, because, the movie shows, you more of the characters feelings, it really digs deep into what is happening, as if one was in person! I love movies a lot better than books, that is why I substribe to my Dish Channel Stars, just to watch my favorite movies.

Although I love movies, I have to admit that I have always thought books were better than movies. I feel this way because I have always had an active imagination; books are open to the readers interpretation, whereas movies are "set in stone". When reading a book, you get to decide what the characters and the settings look like. When watching a movie, someone else gets to decide how everyone will view the characters and settings. Books also go into a greater depth. Since many movies are 2-3 hours long, they typically only focus on one or two main ideas. Books, on the other hand, focus on many different ideas, and go into a greater depth on each idea. This is the reason why people tend to like books more than movies. Since they go so much more going on, you really get to know the characters and become attached to them. This is especially true for longer books or book series. You spend anywhere from a few weeks to some months learning and getting to know the characters in your books. With movies, you have around 3 hours per film to learn about the movie's characters. Personally, 3 hours is not long enough for me to get emotionally involved with a character.

Honestly speaking, I prefer books rather than movies. In a view of that books is a lot way better than movies. Because books is already tried and tested in acquiring and supplying knowledge and informations for decades. The schools used it as a guide for everyday lessons. And when you are reading books it's like you are in a different world, in a different dimention rather. You are imagining the lines and the scenes you are reading. There are scenarios that is being constructed on your mind and that is definitely good because you are aware and being affected of what you have read. Plus the fact that it brings out all your emotions, your inner feelings and all. You can also share it with a friend, you can share your thoughts and opinions about the book, how well are the characters and how effective and magnificent the author was. Though I am not saying that movies is not good for I am just stating what for me is functional. On the other hand, movies also brings out the creativity within you and teaches you how to figure out things in a certain situations. It can also be a bonding moment to watch for the family, a recreational one indeed. Generalizing my answer, books is better than movies.

The movie is way better then the book ,because you don't have to imagine everything and because by watching the movie you feel like you are right there with the characters and you live what they live. The cinema's big screen is the best method you can watch a movie and it's better than a just reading a book.

I think the Goosebumps film was better than the book, however books are usually better. Books have much more description and allow you to have greater imagination. The Streetcat Named Bob book was far more interesting than the book. Films require less brain power though and you can learn about new actors.

As a rule of thumb, books are usually better than movies. I think this is due to the fact that the books are written by the author. He or she knows exactly how they want to convey it. Movies, on the other hand, are usually made by directors who are just giving us his interpretation of the story which is not as pure as the book. We see instances such as in Harry Potter where the author is heavily involved in the filming where the film was nearly just as good as the book.

However, it also depends on the skill of the author. In "the Memoirs of a Geisha," I think the author's language barrier got in the way of telling a compelling story. The film was able to better entertain the audience in this aspect. So 'Memoirs of a Geisha' is one story I would definately say the film pulled off better than the book.

I prefer movies...sorry I am lazy at reading books.....maybe because I love seeing the scenario than imagining it....it easy for us to understand the story if we really see the actual scene than describing the scene into words..

I prefer reading books than to watch movies although reading novels could be a little tiring to the eyes, I still enjoy imagining the scenes in my head while reading on how will the story goes. Others say that the flow of story changes when it comes to movies. So the original concept of the story is within the pages of the books. Some people might get sleepy on readong books but if you will look at it as a hobby, you will truly enjoy the company of books around. Also, it is hard to finish a novel in a day, and because of that, it gives me the excitement the read it for the next days than to watch a movie that will only last for 2 hours that provides lack of content from the real story.

Well, I think that a movie and a book are completely different mediums and it will be unfair to compare the two, even if the movie is based on the story of a book. I love to read books and also watch movies. There is a big difference in both the mediums.

A book is a very descriptive way of telling a story. We can explore each and every character and their circumstances in detail when we are reading a book. When we are reading a book we are thinking and imagining the story in our mind. The canvas of our mind is huge and we can interpret the story in our own way while reading a book. On the other hand, a movie is a visual experience of a story. We see the story unfolding in front of our eyes when we are watching the movie for a limited amount of time. If the movie is well made and the actors have done a decent job then there is no reason to compare the movie with the original book from which it is inspired. If you start comparing the experience of reading a book to the movie, it's very likely that you will find the experience of reading the book more appealing than watching the movie because reading a book is a very private experience with the freedom to form your own perceptions about the story.

Books and movies give color to our dull life.

My choice depends on what mood I'm in, for example if I want to be alone, I will definitely choose books over movies because I don't feel watching movies when I don't have someone to watch it with and when I'm with my family or friends, ofcourse I will choose movies because I have never tried reading books with someone, that would feel awkward.
