I don't know about you guys but I have come to the point where I cannot stand to even watch news broadcasts anymore. There isn't anything that I can say positive about local or international news broadcasts these days. The majority of each broadcast focuses around doom and gloom right there where you are and around the world.

I am of the opinion that what you consistently see and focus on, be it good or bad, has a direct effect on your mind and daily life. What do you guys think?

I used to watch the news, but now I hardly tune into it. I agree that it's gotten depressing with all the tragedies that's happened recently. The news seems to only focus on the bad stuff that happens in the world, occasionally they may have a positive story, but that doesn't get as much attention as the other news. Frankly, I'd love to see more heartwarming and positive stories reported instead of focusing on all the negative.

I know watching the news is very depressing. What world are we living that all we see on television is nothing but negative stuff. Crime, people doing some awful things. I at the point where I don't even want to watch the news anymore. Gone are the days you hear about the positive things. People helping each other out, someone give monies to help with education, people getting help with Health Care, that is what I mean, every day people doing some awesome things. To me those are news worthy.

You could not say it better. The majority of each news broadcasting channels are indeed trying to focus on whatever bad is happening all around the world. They must be thinking it sells otherwise I don't see any reason to just focus on the worse specially knowing the social impact they have on everyone's lives. What boils me down is these news broadcasting channels are supposed to just supply us with news without being opinionated or judgmental about it. Instead, they choose to support one side of the story and go hammer and nail over it.

Here I was, thinking that I was the only one that found the news depressing. The most depressing news channel is CNN. CNN is almost like a horror movie channel. You can literally watch CNN when you have run out on Horror movies. But there are a few that are still manageable like BBC

I get that way a lot. I like to keep up with current events, because I think it's vitally important to do so. However, sometimes I get so bogged down in the bad news, that it seems like ALL the news is bad. The media enforces this gloom and doom, because that's what sells. When it gets to that point for me, I definitely know it's time to take a break from it.

The news is a form of mind control. It's designed to program the unconscious mind. By consistently showing you negative images and filling your head with bad news, you are conditioned to gravitate to thinking negative and focusing on negativity. Attraction more undesired situations in your life. We have now begin to shift to a new paradiagm where the energy on the planet is changing. With this, information is now consistently being pushed out and we have the ability to learn more and not rely on the media to disclose information or news to you because more than likely, the story is only a fraction of what is really going on behind the scenes and often times, a cover up of the bigger events that are taking place. I must understand that the biggest warfare is against our unconscious minds because that is where the real power lies. We can shape and change our reality by focusing on more positive events that are taking place.

Try finding a way to watch only the niche news that you are interested in. If you're depressed about the things you hear then the national level news is not for you. However, you can definitely find some good ones online to subscribe and watch. There are even some that are based on comedy but deal with real news at the same time. For me it's a much easier pill to swallow. Not to mention usually niche topic news, like science or gaming, keep their videos and reports short so it's not something that takes a lot out of your day.

Good luck finding something you like! My recommendations are SourceFed, Phillip Defranco, Young Turks, and others you can find around YouTube.

I enjoy the news and I watch it quite often but even I see how it depressing it has become. The issue isn't so much with the news media stations but rather the state of nation and world in general. We live in troubling times. We cannot always expect the news to be positive because negativity is more common that positivity. I am optimistic, however, that the year 2016 will bring along with new leaders a new period of time as well. Until the time the news becomes positive in reporting I will dutifully watch the negative - because while ignorance may be bliss, it's certainly not ideal.

I so agree the news is depressing. Every time I see it someone is getting shot, stabbed, killed, or something bad or sad. Like today I look up and a man gets arrested for having a gun at a public pool. Really you got babies and teenagers up there trying to swim and have fun and you have on idiot come along and mess up the fun. Sad!!! So I just rather not watch the news at all than hear all that mess or time it just right to see the weather.

Recently all their has been on the news is depressing news such as kidnappings, murders etc. It is quite depressing and I don't think that it will get any better to be honest. The state of countries especially those such as Syria need improving otherwise all the news is going to report on is multiple deaths and injuries.

Love child 85, I do understand what you are saying. I believe that "he who controls the mind, controls the man". I agree that things are not always as they appear. There is always some hidden agenda, in everything. It's as though there is a "great puppet master" pulling strings, behind the scenes.
I have limited the amount of news that I watch, because I find that depressing news, make me sad and angry. My entire disposition changes. I agree that it changes the energy. Maybe that's why there are so many angry young people in our society.

The news does not get depressing because of the bad things that occur nor tragic events in which transpire. Over the many years of consuming information from the news and television itself, the definitive focus of bad news is all that viewers absorb. News is the machine that drives awareness about our surroundings weather near or far. Intuitively speaking, when you hear good news it is not always good for everyone and when you hear bad news it is meant to inform you on how to be protective within your own community. Needless to say, bad news abroad that can potentially affect your country is uncontrollable but it should not be the cause for depression but rather for humbleness. Let's face it, if every news broadcast were all about good news we would all be in one classification of society rather than split between upper, middle and lower class; with absolutely nothing to worry about.

    Would you agree?

I agreed with you 100%, every time I hear the news, It makes me want to change the channel and ignore it at all cause, In reality these are the times we are living in. My faith in Christ has sustained me through these difficult times, I will continue to trust in him to see me through, and hopefully pray for a better place.

The news can be depressive at times. I also think its just a lot of things in the world that is changing. I am not saying it is for the best. In my opinion I think people are trying to adapt to new changes in the world. My thoughts is sometimes I think the news is only useful for the 7 day fore cast, then again sometimes that's depressing.

I can feel all your sentiments too guys about the news these days. I barely watched daily news local and international because it brings negativity to my mood. When I turned on the TV during News time in our local time, you can watch 90% news of massacre or death related incidents, hold up and robbery not just at the streets but also in taxi cabs and buses., rape and molestation or worst child abuse. These are the content of almost an hour news. Good news are just 5 minutes I guess. So now, no more current news affair. So stressful and non sense for me.

Hello guys, watching news can be depressing or even frightening. But you shouldn't stop watching it because you have to be up to date with affairs near and far from you. However much it hurts, you need to be informed. Do you refuse to take injections and pills when you fall sick?,you don't because it is necessary.

The same applies to news. Imagine there is a special announcement warning you not to venture to certain areas due to an outbreak and you do not get informed! If possible watch the news for short periods of at least three times a day. In the morning, afternoon and at night so that you may catch any breaking stories. But you need to always be in the loop to be safe.
