I had a friend who told me, "I think two most practical rules found in one form or another in almost every religion might be. (1) love one another (2) judge not." Now, here's my answer about what she has mentioned.

She was probably talking about these verses: Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. -Matthew 7: 2. These verses seem to be talking about not judging others... but let us continue the verses so that we cannot be misled or will not take these out of context… Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. -Matthew 7:3-5. See? We cannot judge others if we still have a plank in our own eye… but Lord Jesus Christ said that, “if you take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” Meaning, we can clearly judge (in such a way that they can clearly know the truth) others if we already removed the plank in our eye.

I do agree with you on that because we do have to 1st judge ourselves before we can judge anyone else. By the way good examples with the scriptures, I was thhinking of them same one when I saw the topic.

If you are a good Christian you will always refrain from judging other people. Sometimes, we fall into the temptation especially if we are blinded by anger or hatred. And it is just normal I guess for, after all, we are born sinners. But as much as possible, we must refrain ourselves from doing it. The speck in the eye referred from the Bible is our sins and it will always be there as long as we live.

We should not judge according to the bible. Who are we to condemn people? None of us are without sin. Who am I to point my finger at the next man but can not see my own faults. When I see people falling or doing wrong I try to help gear them in the right direction and pray for them. One of the main reasons why people run from the church is because people point their finger too much as if they are somehow better than them.

That's really interesting. Jesus used a lot of metaphors and this is one of the biggest misunderstood passages in the New Testament I would assume. The problem is, there are people who will use that to justify judging and say I have removed the plank out of my eye, so that I can do it to others as well. The question doesn't rely within what Jesus has said because it is without a doubt true, the question relies within ourselves and all those who justify judging, the question is, did they really remove the plank out of their eye? or do they use the passage as a justification? I certainly don't believe they've removed any plank out of their eye, since when the pharisees were to stone the adulterer, Jesus said, which one of you is without sin, let him cast the first stone. So do you think Jesus is saying, one plank or all the planks? That is the question. If he was precisely talking about specific things, aren't you a hypocrite if you judge others, while you still have other planks in your eye? I think it's clear, there is only one without any planks in his eyes, that is God, Jesus.

It is important to see our flaws first, as we do tend to point to others and when someone does point our flaws we tend to get defensive and also try and hide our faults and we are all imperfect and all have sin in the body. I think it is important to lead our life in a way, which is peaceful and also so we can be a good person and also be productive as well and not judge others as it could make us think we know more than them and need to see our faults first. We do not have the right to judge others, we can try and help them change or offer advice and it is up to them to take the offer or the advice and change their course if it is leading them down a path which could cause pain and sorrow.

That makes sense. I would also add that judging others could become destructive upon ourselves. The way we judge others, one day we could look upon ourselves and discover that we are not better than those who done whatever we judged. I know in my life I was guilty of judging of so many sins, I had it hard and I learnt it the hard way because the very sins I judged, are the very sins that I fell into.

I think there is a righteous kind of judgment we are supposed to exercise with care discernment (John7:1) when Jesus told not to judge in (Matthew 7:1) He was telling us not to judge hyprocritically. You see Jesus warns against judging someone else for his sin when you yourself are sinning even worst. When we as Christians see another believer sinning, it is our duty to lovingly and respectfully confront the person with his sin, by doing this, with the goal of bringing on repentance, this to me would not be judging.

Now my opinion is I think no one should judge. Why is that? It's because to begin with no body is perfect, even though we do our best to walk in the footsteps of Christ, we still should not judge. Only God can judge. Now as god fearing people, we suppose to show love to every body. Who are we to judge? With that being said, don't judge people, pray for them.

I try my endeavor never to put my self in the position where I think I have the power to judge or condemn others. My partner is quick to judge others and as such I have always asked him, "who died and made you God?" We are all imperfect human which means we all err and are prone to fall short. Rather than been judgemental I think we should all strive to build up others whenever they fall short.

So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them. He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. John 8:7
All sin is created equal so none of us are beyond sinning, we are not perfect beings. To judge someone just adds to your own faults. We all have our crosses to bear judgement day and we all have things to answer for. I do my best to not judge others, my grandmother always told us growing up "When you point one finger at someone else you have four fingers pointing back at you."

Me and buddie was just discussing this last nite. The bible says do not judge, but I think we have a misconception of what this means. For instance if I rob a bank and get caught, well then I will go top court and I will be judged, right. No matter how you put it, that judge is still judging me for taking that money. But why is he judging me? Maybe I really needed it, so why judge me? So you have many instances where us as people will have to judge human beings. If a convicted sex offender moves in your neighborhood. If this person has served their time and now wants to be a school teacher, that boss will have to make a judgement as to allow he or she around kids. So you see judging has to take place and so judging in the bible is used wrongly a lot. But its always used when somebody is doing wrong and they hate when they called out on it. Yet if I am doing the same thing as you well then there is no way I can judge you. Heck I change my ways first and then maybe I can help you and your situation.

It does not feel good to judge. You can't be loving, so you suffer when you judge. People judge, the question is why would they wish to?

No, I don't think so. As a Christian, we should't judge other people. We should tell which is wrong and which is true based on the Bible and make people understand.
