Whom do you prefer? The doctor or the pharmacist? In my case, I prefer the pharmacist, my reasons; I tend to lazy up when I become ill {e.g common cold or the flu}, I find it much quicker and efficient {as in the pharmacist listening in to my predicament and prescribing the right dosage for the illness and needles are rarely involved } and off am gone :D, now at the doctor's, I find I must queue {me the impatient patient } and then watch people being wheeled in stretchers and others with deep cuts, others writhing in pain, it makes me feel sad :(... now don't get me started on the needles o_O, the prodding here and there , the laboratory tests that take eternity to complete ,

I understand, for complicated illnesses... I'd prefer the doctor over the pharmacist but for simple illness I'd go for the pharmacist over a doctor...just my honest $0.02. What about you?

I would prefer if neither of them had to be in my life, but that's not my reality. In a perfect setting the two should complement each other, but in my experience that does not always happen.

Many years ago I went to my doctor for some reason and to this day I will never forget the shock on the face of the pharmacist who could not understand why a medication, unrelated to my complaint was prescribed. I still regret actually paying for the medication which I never used. From that time, I have always researched whatever medication my doctor prescribes. While the doctor can most times better diagnose the problem, the pharmacist is far more knowledgeable about the drug that should be used.

I prefer a 'healthy' mix of doctor and pharmacist, if I must consult them at all.

I love to go to the pharmacy for help when I am sick with a minor illness like a cold or mild pain or allergy issue. There are several reasons for this;I don't have to sit in a crowded waiting room, the pharmacy staff are most often very friendly and very knowledgeable about medical issues, and instead of making two visits to the doctor and the pharmacist, I can make one.

Visiting the pharmacist can be dangerous at times. They indeed are knowledgeable, but lack too much knowledge about many diseases. Half knowledge can prove to be harmful. It is okay to consult a pharmacist in medical conditions like normal flu, but any other medical condition more serious than a normal seasonal influence must be taken care of by a doctor who has adequate knowledge and experience of dealing with diseases.
