This is what I dealt with last week. My DSL modem died on Monday and didn't get replaced till Thursday. For a few days there I was having to come up with other options to get online at least for a little while. But there was one day there when I didn't ge online, it was kind of strange actually. I felt like something was missing as if I hadn't done something. Its hilarious becasue we didn't always have the Internet, yet I have to admit mysel f that its become an intregal part of my life.

Anyway, I am glad to have a new DSL modem and being able to get back online.

I know what you mean by the feeling like something is missing. I really rarely have to life without internet (thankfully), but if I do, even if it's just for a few hours, I feel like I'm missing on what is happening in the world. I don't get this feeling if I'm actually out and about, doing something interesting. But if I'm at home and have nothing to do, not having the internet connection is the worst thing. Suddenly everything I usually do on the internet seems so interesting and important. And everything else I try to do is somehow connected to using the internet and I feel hopeless.

This has also happened to me on two occasions and they did feel like earth-shattering events. As an online freelancer, I absolutely rely on the internet to earn a living. I've owned a brick and mortar business, the worst thing that could happen were power outages. This would cripple business and bring everything to a standstill. However, that's in the past but whenever I've had internet connection troubles or faulty modems it does remind me of those power outages. For better or worse, the internet has become a part of our lives and we should all prefer that it's functioning properly.

It is a bad feeling more so when you were prepared to carry out some tasks online then all over sudden you no internet connection. It is worse when it is as a result of low units and you are in a situation that you can not recharge or get units top-up!
