I do. But I won't recommend it. Smartphones emit radiation that are harmful for the body. It is not safe to keep your phone near you as you sleep. Even so, I'm still doing it. I don't experience any problems so far, probably it would cause me health problems in the future. I check my phone very often and use it even if it is charging. My phone is my main device for communicating with friends and relatives. Every notifications I have comes from my device.

I wake up like 100 times when my phone is next to me.
When i leave it on the desk in other room, I sleep like a baby. Wake up count=0

I believe that a cellphone is a private device which I should carry where ever I go-including sleeping next to it. I dispute the research finding that sleeping next to it is likely to cause cancer. We have heard in other studies that gadgets like microwaves can interfere with communications, ionize foods and many others-let me call them myths. Until some tangible evidences are brought forward I will continue sleeping next to it. Why not advise people on totally not using them at all! Many people have spent thousands of hours talking on cellphones and have died at old age without the development of cancer.

There are so many things that are thought to cause cancer, but how many cases have been reported, and if they occur, how sure are we that the causes are among the blacklisted items. I take these claims as just rumors and will not fall for them soon.

I tend to leave my phone on my desk next to my bed or on the floor just beside it. I'm aware that it's not entirely healthy to do, but I use my phone as an alarm, so I'd rather have it close to me to switch it off in the morning, and just in case of an emergency happening at night. Nevertheless, I do turn off my cellular data and wifi when I go to sleep.

I have heard the same thing about it causing cancer. Unfortunately (and I hate to say it this way) but what doesn't cause cancer anymore? The air, the water, the sun and even some foods. It's no surprise to me if this is true. To that end, I sort of sleep next to mine. It's not in the bed or anything but rather on my night table. It is my alarm. Not to mention I have a grandmother that is very dear to me who is in assisted living with congestive heart failure and Alzheimer's. She falls somewhat often and if I ever missed an important call from or about her, I would be devastated. So I will take my risks and my phone will stay put. Fingers crossed!

Personally, I do sleep next to my phone, and it is a pretty big issue for me. Having a phone next to you in bed not only poses the issues mentioned above by others before me, but there is a simple fact that, your phone is a major distraction. I couldn't possibly count the nights that I have been so close to getting a good night's rest and then didn't, because I rolled over and picked up my phone. Then my brain starts going again and next thing I know, I'm wide awake. Then I look at the clock and it is 3 in the morning, and I've got to be at school in 3 hours. It is a serious habit that I need to break, and one I would recommend others do as well.

The radio frequency electromagnetic radiation they transmit and receive is very weak. This radiation does not have enough energy to damage DNA, and cannot directly cause cancer. Cell phonesemit radiofrequencyradiation(radio waves), a form of non-ionizingradiation, from their antennas. Parts of the body nearest to the antenna can absorb this energy. Experts recommend being cautious and restrict usage to only necessary exposures. It is not advisable to sleep with a cell phone under your pillow or next to your head because of the possibility of overexposure to potentially dangerous radiation.

The danger of not sleeping next to your cellphone is that you won't be able to hear your alarm in the morning. This is the only reason I keep my phone with me when I sleep.

Yes, I do sleep next to my phone but after reading the replies on here, I just might change that habit. I would put my phone next to where I'm laying just so I can feel the vibrations since I the volume down so it won't wake the baby and so it can be in arms reach if I had to get it.

When I was younger, absolutely. There was no parting me and my phone. Now I experience the feeling of going in that sweet and well needed sleep only to be woken up by a phone call. For me that is something I dread, and because of that, I have phones far away when I go into sweet slumber. Whatever it is, it will have to wait.

I have my phone on my nightstand every night, but only because I need it for an alarm. It does end up keeping me up later than I'd like because once I turn it on, it's hard for me to put it down, and then the light that emits from it makes it harder for me to fall asleep. I definitely will consider getting an actual alarm clock after thinking about this discussion. I have never considered the possible heath issues associated with sleeping next to your phone.

I always sleep next to my smartphone. I check my phone before i go to sleep and as soon as i wake up. You could say it's a habit of mine; it has been for years now. I all so always charge my phone overnight, that could be a potential fire hazard. I've never really thought about the harm it could cause me. I might start to think twice now about sleeping next to my phone.

I have heard of this several times. But we Africans do not believe in such, let alone in the existance of cancer. I have been sleeping next to my cellphone since I was 14 and still in perfect health.

I used to sleep with my phone, but noticed that it causes disturbances with my sleep patterns and wakefulness the next morning. I used to do it because I like listening to music while sleeping. Before I read these posts, I didn't give electromagnetic radiation much thought, but now, I will be more careful. Now I realize just how dangerous it is to keep a cell phone next to my head while sleeping and I will avoid it from tonight.

Thanks for the excellent and informative posts about the dangers of sleeping with your cell phone.

Even though we are constantly being told to not sleep with our phones near us I am one of those people who does not listen and I have to have my phone near me when I'm sleeping. It's easier to hear the alarm I set(let's face it, it's not easy waking up to alarms) and in case of emergency I would hear the ringtone better. Some nights I find it difficult to fall asleep and hence play music from my phone to help me fall asleep. So not having my phone near me when sleeping is not an option.

I don't sleep with my phone as I came across some health conditions in patients who had used cellphones for a long time close to their ears more often while I was at medschool.Cellphone electromagnetic radiation is strong, and as we now have 5G coming it will present more issues.

I would not let my kids use cellphones or tablets as the radiation can affect them a lot with soft tissues and bones in their bodies.I got my first cellphone when I was 18 years old and attending university abroad and that was in 1999 with the old Nokia LCD screen ones.

I use my cellphone throughout the day and at nighttime it will either run out of battery life or I will turn it off and leave on my television table further away from my bed.

I place my phone on a table next to my bed when I decide to head to bed because of replying on an alarm clock to wake me up in the early hours. I'm going to be completely honest, I always fall asleep while scrolling through Facebook endlessly, and the blue-emitting life can affect my sleep cycle. It's a bad routine that I've got myself into.

Yes, that is a bad habit. I would advise you to move your phone away and I bet you your mind will start to be more clear because your phone emits certain radiation that will block your third eye chakra.

I try not to sleep next to my phone due to the hazardous radiation it can emit. However, I often don’t realize I fall asleep next to it as I tend to stay up really late using my phone. I think the best thing you can do is place your phone on a table nearby that’s a safe distance from you. Admittedly, I’ve found that sleeping next to my phone is the most convenient thing for me as I usually set multiple alarms. I hate to have the annoying and loud alarm blaring for too long, so I make sure it’s right next to me so that I am able to turn it off as soon as possible.
