Am I the only one who finds games addictive? Since the first time I played a game, that being on my mom's phone back when I was a kid, I became very interested in games. Slowly I began playing more and more games both online and offline. And I never seem to get tired of playing them. Honestly they are a lot of fun.

It really depends on different factors. I don't feel addicted to video games at all, unlike some, I can stop gaming completely and not feel any different. In my opinion it's an addiction if you prioritize gaming over other, more important, tasks like school or your job. Also games are a great way to escape your problems. That's why they seem to never be boring.

Nope, you aren't alone. There are many people who are addicted or consider video games to be addictive, and that includes me. It would consume most of your day's hours if you ever get addicted to games. It would also have a bad effect on both physical and mental health because you are spending too much time and you'll be neglecting other things in your life.

So please try to not get addicted and only play video games at controlled or limited hours to still enjoy playing and not suffer from addiction. :)

I would say just about anything can be addictive, and especially things that give quick rewards of dopamine i.e. TV and video games. Video games can definitely be an addiction, but only once they start to interfere with other responsibilities or aspects of a persons life. For many people (myself included), video games can be a great escape after a long day of school/work to release stress.

Long story short, as long as you can keep the rest of your life in order, your hobby is healthy :D

You are not the only one who find games addictive @Milay, for the first time ever gaming addiction is set to be classed as a health issue by the World Health Organization.
According to a drafted definition, symptoms of gaming disorder can include continuation or escalation of gaming despite negative consequences. It can also be shown by the gamer exhibiting impaired control over gaming and/or by more time given into gaming to the extent that it takes precedence over other important life aspects.

It is a neurological problem. And it isn't new. It used to happen with any other sort of game that ever existed.

See, when you play a game, you win some sort of reward or level. You continue on to another level with more difficulties and challenge. Or you become the ultimate winner. In both the scenarios, our brain rewards us with a special chemical called dopamine. When you play again, the same dopamine gets released again. And guess what, dopamine also happens to be an essential hormone for feeling well and fully living. As a result, next time you start to crave the game. And soon it becomes a habit of spontaneous rewarding and feeling fulfilled by the way of playing.

This happened with physical games too. This happens with gambling too. This happens with video games too! What people need to understand is that, they need to focus on more than one place to get that same satisfaction they get from gaming. But here comes another factor, the element of fantasy. The video games also come with an element of fantasy which provides us with a way to escape reality for that moment. As a result it is more addictive than any other form of gaming, as it helps you evade your real life problems, rather than confront them!

Video games often get a bad rep. And video game addiction is looked at as a downright ugly condition. Scientific studies about video game addiction usually focus on the relationship between simulated and real-life violence. Media outlets love to use those stories. Video games are cast in a negative light and dismissed as massive time sinks with little to no redeemable qualities. Most gamers know there is more to it than that, and now there might be some evidence to help back up their arguments.

Who's familiar with this game called Mobile Legends Bang Bang? The only game that I really love. You can play it on your IOS or on your Android phones. This game is similar to League of Legends and Dota 2 or Dota 1. I've been addicted this game so much I played it every time on my phone when I am bored.

I will recommend this game you can play it with your friends and your family.

would say that I'm one of those that loves to play games, either on my smartphone, tablet, or pc. I consider games to be a stress reliever. After a long days work, I play games to relax my mind.

A game becomes 'addictive' to me when I find it challenging, specially RPG or role playing games where you need to level up your avatar/character.

I don't think that games are bad, because in whatever things we do, we have full control over our gaming habits. Games are literally fun, but if we focus our time, spend most of our time, and neglect our other main responsibilities in life, then that's when a game becomes destructive.

When I first played games on PC, even the mini or flash games are addicted. Slowly, I play games like heavy games like AC series(I-IV), POP series, sleeping dogs and many other. But, due to high-end games requirement high price hardware now I only play in my android phone game like COC, crossfire, and some PvP games. These games are only played for time pass. Even if they are an addictive game I only play a few minutes a day.

This topic is one that I've been looking into after seeking answers of my own mental health. Playing video games for me was a form of escapism as a child. I did not have a good home situation, nor did I have a good situation going on at school. I often felt as if I had no reward system in place for doing good, as every time I did what I thought was right, it was never validated.

That's when I found video games. I really wasn't allowed to play, so I had to play at night to hide from my parents. The rewards I received while playing video games actually gave me a sense of accomplishment, and it was easy to confuse this accomplishment with real-life accomplishments. Over twenty years later, I'm still kind of coasting along in life and letting myself feel validated with virtual accomplishments. To be honest, I wouldn't have it any other way.

The truth is anyone can be a victim of game addiction because everyone can lost the grip of it due to the impact of technology in the human society. Playing games isn't that bad we just need to invest a minimal tike into it because there are a lot of things out there that needs our time to be done.
Game is just a game where we can play to make ourselves relaxed that's why stop investing too much tike for it if your not gaining profut into it.

Well, I don't like to play online games and I definitely don't like small kids and teenagers getting addicted to playing games all the time. I see more and more youngsters glued to there computers or smartphones for hours together. Even small children who can use mobiles have gotten addicted to playing games all the time.

When you get addicted to anything then it definitely has a very negative impact on your mind and body. Youngsters prefer to stay home instead of going out and playing real sports and games outdoors, which are very beneficial in the development of a healthy mind and body. If you lose out on the golden years of childhood and teenage where the personality of a person is getting developed then you will always regret that in the future. There have also been instances where some dangerous games have been known to influence young teenagers to commit suicides.

I think that there is no harm if you play games online for a limited time every day. More importance has to be given to physical activities and personality development in the growing years.

That is true, every gamer knows how fun it is to hide in his room, and just play games.
Parents don't understand that but you know that is not something unusual, the did not have that much of technology in childhood.

Hi Milay. I can relate with what you are experiencing. In my part though, I find it as an inspiration because I have a dream to become a game programmer someday or an animator. Addiction wise, there are different levels. The word "addiction" has its negative connotation which I think it can only be valid when there are negative things that is happening to you because of playing games. If this does not affect your daily routine and does not hinder you to become productive daily then I don't think that you should consider it as an addiction but instead a hobby. If it makes you happy and you are still able to finish your important tasks for each day then there's no reason to worry. If it affects you negatively, that's the time you should find a way to take it out of your system or at least lessen your time used with this kind of activity.

Dependence on video games can be categorized by three conditions. If a person loses control over their hobbies, if he or she starts to prioritize video games at the expense of other activities, and if they play even if the consequences become exclusively negative, then one can speak of a mental illness. That is why we will never have to go beyond the threshold over which the hobby becomes an obsession. If we do, it is good to meet a doctor.
