I used to play a lot of games in the past, but then, my dad used to buy it. Now that I don't have the time to play most of the games I buy, I have managed to prevent myself from being trapped by Steam supper sales or any other sale offer like that. What about you?

That's a really great question @fahimor. A question which I'm a little embarrassed to answer. I'm a bit of a hoarder and amassed a huge game collection over the years. Not just from Steam or digital downloads but actual physical copies of console games which cost much more. Several years ago it was normal for me to spend around $ 300 per month on my gaming hobby.

As my game collection was building up, I found myself having less time to play them. A huge backlog of unfinished games was piling and I started feeling bad for wasting all that money. Now I've cut back considerably and will only spend money on a game if I know I'll have time to finish it. Months will now go by where I won't purchase a single game, no matter how tempting those Steam sales are.

I've never spent any money to buy video games since I never owned a computer nor a console, but I do frequent lan cafes. They charge around a dollar per hour to rent their PC, and I mostly play Dota2 for about 4-6 hours per day which then costs me around 5 dollars daily. Maybe if I was able to save up for a computer then I would be able to spend less afterwards, but so far I haven't gotten around to doing so.

Has anyone here ever spent more than $100 on free mobile games? I've heard stories on the internet about people spending thousands of dollars without even realizing it on these supposedly free mobile games like Candy Crush and what-not. It's amazing how these micro-transactions of buying special points for a couple of dollars add up down the line. You'd think you're just spending a couple of bucks here and there, then by the end of the month you'd just find out that you've blown all your cash on some video game. I'm quite glad that has never happened to me as I wouldn't know what I would do if I was placed in that situation.

Unfortunately I cant spend that much on games so I tend to play free to play games. Nowadays there are pretty good FTP titles. I would say I spend 30dollars per year buying games. The last one I bought was Hitman Absolution for 4bucks!!! it was steam sale xD I was so happy because I wanted to play this game but I didnt have the money to buy it :S

I'm like work, so I don't spend that much money in gaming. I think the only time I spent money on gaming was when I bought Minecraft, for $20. Other than that, I just play free games.

I play Video games for way too long each week (sometimes 40+ hours a week) despite this I spend pretty much nothing on the games I play. My main games currently are Hearthstone and cs:go, after the £6.00 purchase of the cs:go I've spent nothing more on it and the same is true for Hearthstone, In fact I've actually made a little money playing in some small Hearthstone tournaments. I also occasionally play League of legends and Heroes of the storm. I've currently spent nothing on Heroes of the Storm and about £40~ on some skins in league. You really don't need to spend that much on games to enjoy them. The current Free to play model that a lot of games are adopting is great because if you're willing to put in the time you can get everything for free.

I spend like 20-50$ per month on my gaming gear and games. Most of the money is spent on dota2, buying compendium, new sets, hero upgrades, etc. Games have fascinated us since the 1900's, there's no restriction which can stop us from buying.
