I would choose both. Good songs are never forgotten. The good songs are playing on the radio even right now, after 10 years or more of releasing. It depends on the quality of the song.

Both! I listen to a wide verity of music and in some genres, older music is better. One of my favourite genres is rock. While I do listen to new rock music, I find myself listening to music from over 20 years ago. I find that older music also had more meaning. Personally I enjoy music with a good meaning over music with a good beat. I think that in this day and age the majority of top singers have nicer singing voices than a lot of people before them, which is why I enjoy listening to their music.

I'm 98. I prefer old songs rather than the new ones. Always wish I was born in the 1960s, 1970s..., so I could listen to the music of 60s, 70s and 80s. I mean, I am listening those music groups nowadays, but just wish to go to a live concert of Pink Floyd, The beatles, Bon Jovi... and so many other great music groups...
Old music has a soul... Has emotions... Feelings... Not only the lyrics, but the melodies... I just feel that nowadays the whole culture is much worse than in the old days, not only music, whole culture.

I agree with what Alli had said. I am also open to listening songs whether they are old or just new as long as I love the meaning and the music of it. Some of the music I listen to even have that sound which tells a story even without the lyrics. I really like to listen to those kinds of songs. It is also intriguing to know the hidden meaning behind the old songs which makes me relate to dzonyfox2. He reminds me of my parents who loves old songs. When I was a kid, I don't understand why they always listen to old songs and do not like the new ones. Later on I realized the reason when I was able to understand each and every meaning of those old songs. Personally, old songs have more meaningful lyrics compared to new ones but still some of the new songs have the same value as those good old songs I listen to.

Old songs are way much better to listen than new songs today. (Except for some Ed Sheeran songs) Old songs are more remarkable and pleasant to the ears unlike that of the music today. Yes, they may making a hit to the top of the billboards but not at the minds of people. They were easily forgotten. It is just purely based on my observation though.

I love old songs, the songs I grew up listening to.They are soothing as they bring back past memories. They are part of my growing up.I'm in love with old gospel songs and the hymn book is my favourite song book. I find most new songs noisy and fast.

We look fondly on old songs because of a phenomenon known as "survivorship bias." The songwriters and music producers of the past were not necessarily better than the ones we have now. Terrible songs were also created decades ago, but since these songs were of poor quality, they were quickly forgotten. The old songs that we know of now made it to this era because their quality was very good. These are the survivors that we now compare with every modern song, good or bad, that we hear on YouTube or on Spotify. Of course the songs we have now would, on average, look inferior when compared to the very best music that the past generations have to offer.

I used to think that old songs = awesome, new songs = suck. When I learned about "survivorship bias," I began to be more hopeful and more appreciative of newer music. I know that good quality music can emerge even from our generation; it's just that, with all of the options that we have today, we have to sift through harder. The older generations don't have a monopoly over musical talent; genius is present in every generation. We just have to give them a chance to prove themselves.

Well looking at where our Music industry is heading now, I would say that old music has a more positive vibe to it. Tge tunes and the use of the insturments in cooperation with the singer are just perfect. I'm talking about stars like Keney Rogers, Michelle Bolton, Ace Of Base, etc.

I love both new and old songs. Music is constantly changing but you got to ride along with it. It is nice listening to old songs, it remind me of my child hood. I believe that music carries memories. New songs today will be my the song of my present. I still appreciate the lyrics of it. Songs today reflects the new life of the new world.

There is some good music that is old and new. There is also some music that I don't like that is old and new as well. Of course, it all comes down to individual preference, but one of the best parts is the memories, as you said. I am a true lover of many different genres and I am enjoying introducing it to my children and making memories with them as well.

I like new and old songs but I prefer to sing the old song since most old songs is I already know the lyrics of the songs, there is nothing to memorize from them! :) Unlike the New ones that I have to memorize it and not to mention the k-pop that you will really keep up with their song and dance.

Though It’s good to listen for new music these days I can’t deny that i prefer old music more. Music in the old days are more meaningful, heartbreaking and more with passion! It’s not that I don’t like music these days but when I compare it from the “old ones” The difference is obvious! Old music is with more sense, while music of today is focusing on trying to make the person listen rather than feeling the music which is two different thing!.

I totally agree with your personal input, and to further elaborate, I believe that old songs can help us remember what we went through and where we came from. However I also believe that we should open our eyes to the future instead of putting down the new era of music surrounding us. This doesn’t mean that we can’t listen to either of the two, just to see the big picture before criticizing one of the two.

Old music and new music is really relative to age. Some people lived through the peak of the song, while future generations may stumble upon it without context. I believe that good music can come from everywhere, every genre, every time period. Though I do have to say, I think new music offers more flexibility, as the digital age has grown to the point where it's so easy to produce and send out music, and its even easier to find a niche.

There are plentiful old songs that sound better than newer songs. I think that music back in the years was more higher quality, more original and also more soulful. Music artists like Usher, Mariah Carey and Rihanna had more emotional songs in the past and it connected to me a lot more.
