We all know that smoking has no health benefits. However, many people are still into it, men and women. Even though the government has issued a warning about the harmful effects of smoking. Some I can say that they are already addicted to smoking because they cannot leave a day without it. However, there are smokers who want to quit but having difficulty to do so. Quitting smoking is a long process and cannot be achieved overnight. I must say rushing the process can only lead to withdrawals since the body has already gotten used to nicotine. Finding a friend that also wanted to quit smoking is a good start. In this way, both can motivate each other in the event that one is having challenges in the process. You can also gradually decrease the number of sticks you smoke on a daily basis until the body slowly adjusts. Always think of your non smoking friends and relatives and how your smoking habits can harm them.

Stopping from smoking means loving yourself and your health first. So,may be you have tried to quit but its not easy ..first you need to make the decision and check some guidance or a rehabilitation center to help you.
Note:You can't quit abruptly as this will worsen the situation. Start by avoiding smoking one by one especially when you are in dire need of it.If you smoke thrice in a day.. try and skip one consecutively.

Like ever other habit smoking is very difficult to stop. After smoking for a long time it will have become something that your body has recognized and adjusted to. This is why you'll have to make your body gradually adjust to getting less smoke by reducing the number of sticks you take overtime.

Also important is that, if you are someone who started smoking as a way to cope with a harsh reality, make sure you've solved or gotten over that issue before trying to quit smoking.

Before you even think about stopping smoking make yourself a list of reasons to quit. By doing this you will always remind yourself why you made decision to give up. Next step is to make a promise, set a date and stick to it. I personally don't believe in any kind of tips or devices like E-cigarettes. Only your firm decision will bring you success. And you always have your list of reasons when you need some support :)

The best way to stop smoking, or to any successful habit change, is knowing who you are, why you want to change, and what techniques will work for you. Research is helpful, but the solution to this dilemma cannot be found primarily in it. It doesn't matter how you quit, as long as you trust that your chosen method will work for you. In the end, accurate self-knowledge is key to extinguishing this deadly habit.

It is not easy quitting smoking once you are hooked to the habit. But recognizing that you have a problem at hand and choosing to do something about is the first step towards abandoning the habit. However, you need commitment and plan to be successful. It involves working with a counselor to identify your triggers like emotions or situations that makes you want to smoke and make a plan to get through the cravings. You may also need to embark on a nicotine replacement therapy which involves taking nicotine gum, inhalers and lozenges which gives you nicotine without taking tobacco.

Quitting smoking can be very challenging but there are ways one can use to stop smoking.Seeking advice mostly from a counselor who can suggest ways of staying motivated like medicines and even hypnosis.Therapy and medications can also help by withdrawing effects like headaches, mood swings and reduced energy levels.Activities like running and cycling can also help release dopamine.

Smoking is dangerous to your health, It can cause lung cancer and worse it will lead us to death. We always knew the disadvantages of smoking but we neglect to stop the vice because we are so addicted to it.
I was a former smoker once but after I had my son. The addiction to cigarettes faded. I love my son more than anything and I don't want him suffering from sickness that is caused by second hand smoking.
I believe we can stop smoking if we are determined and has the correct motivation to stop it. In my case my son is my motivation.Correct discipline also follows.
Quitting smoking maybe hard at first but eventually you'll get the hang of it. A healthy life means a better future to you and your loveones.

There is only one way o one can use to stop smoking; it is self will. You will only stop smoking if you have a will to. In other words you are your own doctor.

Smoking is a habit. You can kill one habit by developing another. Buy chewing gum when you feel like buying a cigarette. Every time you feel the urge to smoke, take a chewing gum, unwrap it and chew. That one together with your will will make you stop.

I believe that the answer is you come to God and ask for His help. Its only through His power that you can quit smoking.

I am happy to say that I actually quit smoking a year ago and have not touched a cigarette since! One tip for anyone wishing to stop smoking, which helped me a lot, is that you should do your best to stay away from smokers. I know it is hard when you see everyone smoking in the street, but staying away from friends who smoke helps considerably. I actually changed my entire friend circle from one that smoked all the time, to one that was completely against smoking. For me, this was a major factor in helping me to stop smoking and although it may not work for everyone, I think it is definitely worth a try!

The best way to stop smoking is by imagining what will happen to your health 10-15 years from now. Smoking is dangerous to your health. It can cause lung cancer, throat cancer, and other diseases. It will not help you in any way but only brings you misfortune. You have to be smarter and wise. Never waste your precious life and be a slave of your addiction. Practice self-control and self-disciplined. Most people regret later on their life that they did not stop smoking. They just realize this when the horror of acquiring some serious illness touch them.

I'm almost 3 years smoke free. I can't believe it, and I can't believe how good I feel and look. Before this quit, I was so low that I thought I just might have to smoke forever, because I'd never be able to quit. You CAN quit smoking, no matter how hard it seems now, no matter how many times you've tried and failed. I have 2 children that I would like to live long enough to be a mother and later a grandmother!!!

Tobacco craving can wear you down when you are trying to quite, but there are some ways that can help smoker reduce and resist craving such as avoiding triggers, chewing on it, getting physical activities, practicing relaxation techniques and reminding yourself of the benefits.

Urge for tobacco are likely to be strongest in situations you smoked or chewed tobacco most often. Identify your trigger situation and have a plan in place to avoid them or get through them without using tobacco.

Practicing relaxation techniques such as deep-breath, exercises, muscle relaxation, yoga, visualization, massage or listening to calming music are other techniques to help quite smoking.

Smoking is one of the slow killer problems in the current generation. Smoking cigarettes contributes to almost 1 in 5 deaths. The top three smoking-related causes of death are cardiovascular disease, lung cancer, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). In addition to these “top three,” smoking is also linked to a number of other cancers, an increased likelihood of getting more colds and infections, diabetes, osteoporosis and hip fractures, problems in pregnancy, difficulty with erections, stomach ulcers, gum disease, and the list goes on.
I think Treatment with medications (nicotine replacement, varenicline, or bupropion) increases quit-rates, especially when combined with counseling. These medications may help with cravings, withdrawal symptoms, and other side effects of quitting smoking. All of these agents can be used even if a person has not completely stopped smoking. Varenicline and bupropion take some time to work, so they should be started a week to several weeks before the quit date, depending on the medication. Talk to your doctor about which treatment is suitable for you, especially if you have depression.

If these various treatments don’t work, they may also be tried in combination. In addition, there are other alternative treatments, like acupuncture and hypnosis, but success has been less clear with these.

    1. Nicotine replacement. Using nicotine replacement doubles the quit-rate. It helps with withdrawal symptoms and cravings and can be tapered off easily as withdrawal symptoms improve. There are many forms available over-the-counter or with a prescription: patches, gum, lozenges, nasal spray, and inhaler. The highest dose patch (21mg) should be used if the smoker smokes more than 10 cigarettes a day. The patch delivers nicotine through the skin over 24 hours, but can also be removed at bedtime. The other short-acting forms of nicotine replacement can be used alone, or used with patches as needed for cravings or on a regular schedule at first (e.g. hourly while awake).
    2. Varenicline (Chantix). Varenicline works by binding to nicotine receptors in the body, partly turning them on to reduce withdrawal symptoms, but also blocking them from the nicotine in cigarettes and thus making smoking less pleasurable. So far, varenicline has shown the highest quit-rate in studies.
    3. Bupropion (Zyban, Wellbutrin SR). Bupropion is felt to work by working on the brain’s hormones. It has the added benefit of minimizing the initial weight gain with stopping smoking. Treatment for longer duration may help prevent relapse in those who have quit. It cannot be used in those who have a history of seizure disorders.
Most smokers who stop will feel better, and stopping will lower their risk of getting (and dying from) smoking-related illnesses. But quitting smoking can be very difficult. If you are a smoker and you want to stop, talk to your doctor about what the best options are for you to help you succeed.

The best way to stop smoking is to earn enough will power and have a support system from your family and friends. My bestfriend was able to quit beacause her boyfriend and I pushed her really hard but it wasn't easy.

On the first week, she was craving so much that I have to constantly remind her of the consequences of smoking. On the second and third week, she made herself busy so that she wouldn't think of doing it.

Right now, she's still smoking but not as often as before. She only do it when there's an occassion.
