Have you tried fasting? I'm familiar with fasting but only from a spiritual standpoint, I wonder what science says about it. Is it healthy to fast? I know there are different types of fasting but is any of them safe or not harmful to one's health? It can be a great help for weight loss but I'm worried that it's not the best way to do it. If you've ever fasted before, how did you do it and how was it?

According to Merriam-Webster, to fast is to eat sparingly or abstain from food. But in our church, our Pastor said that we could also fast from something that we usually do. For example, you fast from getting online so I once did abstain from it for three days - no Facebook, IG, etc.

Personally, especially after days of eating meaty foods, I do fast. For me, it's a great way to digest all those stuff that I have eaten by skipping a meal or eating just a little. When I feel that I am still full even if I have not eaten yet is a warning sign to me that I have to put eating into moderation first.

Also, fasting helps to reduce overeating by reducing when you eat. This is very helpful for people who struggle with overeating. Also, fasting help to promote cell regeneration and helps to remove the old cells from the body through the waste. Personally, I fast and I feel amazing

I once went without eating for 20 days, I originally was just trying to see how long I could go, thinking it would be hard but it turned out to be easy. I wasn't hungry my body seemed to adapt but I was tired. Eventually I ended up just eating because I didn't see the point of continuing. The first thing I ate was pizza which you would think after 20 days would be the best thing ever, Instead it was horrible. The flavor was too intense I found this odd because I had heard stories about Jews that survived the holocaust, who upon eating for the first time after being starved, died because they couldn't handle how delicious the food was. By the way there were no adverse effects from my fast. The only thing is I lost a bit of muscle mass I found myself noticeably weaker but I regained my strength not too long after.

Yes, I've done fasting before and it's truly effective.

My real plan is to fast for 2 to 3 days but I already started eating after 16 hours only because I can't take it anymore and my parents keep on nagging me saying that what I'm doing is not healthy and that I should eat. Even though I only made it for 16 hours, I was still able to flush out my toxins the other day.

Just remember that when you fast, make sure that it's your free day because aside from experiencing fatigue, you will also go to bathroom for several times.

Fasting can be good when done correctly. Some fasts might require constant monitoring by a doctor to monitor your vitals. This is where you decide to do a water fast or dry fast for weeks. Some people even do a water fast for a whole month. For short duration fasts such as Intermittent fasts or One Meal A Day (OMAD) fasts, then a doctor is not necessary as you will be re-feeding more often. Fasting has many benefits including autophagy, losing weight, lowering insulin resistance, and much more.
