Reading is a great habit that helps to develop one’s thinking and intellectual capabilities. But the influence of internet and social media has reduced the reading habits of many people, especially the younger generation. They spend most of their times in front of social media sites and find no time for reading books. It is true that the virtual world helps them in connecting with friends and having fun every moment, but it is unfortunate that their creative power remains dormant.

It is the responsibility of parents to encourage their children to develop the habit of book reading and nurture their creative spirit; otherwise a whole generation will be ruined. There is no need to bother about getting printed books because myriads of E-Books are available on the internet.

Yes, I think. People usually spend their time nowadays on social media and online games instead of reading. As you can see on some social media sites, a lot of people are commenting without reading the content of the post, the reason why a lot of people are having a misunderstanding. Unlike before people are fond of reading. With our generation now, people now are more of technology.

Well I am not sure about this as reading material can be done in digital platform as well as hard copy book. I am an old school person and I like purchasing books and read as I am still in convenient to read digital content. However digital content included in audio visual ways , As audio of any books are done in digital platform I agree it is not exactly faded but reading culture is reduce in our generation.

Reading becomes less used as you get older. My parents will ask their phones to answer a question or even my younger siblings will do the same. Not only are we not reading outside a school setting but we are also not reading inside a school setting. During a test, state testing or normal tests, I find myself not reading the assigned passages simply because there is no need. I skip the passage and go directly to the questions because half the questions ask about things that can be answered without wasting time reading a three-page passage. In English classes, I won't read the books assigned because there is repetition in the questions being asked pertaining to the books making them too predictable.

I like to believe it depends on the person. I've come across people who have never read a book for the sake of reading in itself. A person who enjoys reading will always find time to do so. I for one am never without a book to read and have often used the internet to discover more and more books to read.

As such, I am in complete agreement that the love of reading must be encouraged among little kids. One of them will be the next great author after all.

I agree and disagree at the same time. It is true that the young generation, is spending a lot of time on the internet, but on the internet, there is a lot of things to read, like for example a blog. There are also sites were you can read books or even download ebooks. My youngest son likes to play on the computer, but he also like to read books.
