I mean personally for me, I don't pay much attention to them. If there is a movie that I want to see, then I will go and see it. I'm weird and like movies that are actually really horrible. So a movie getting a bad rating doesn't make me stay away from it. I know that my boyfriend does that though. I honestly think that if a movie he really wanted to see got a bad rating, that he wouldn't go see it. I mean these people don't know what you will like, so you can't really judge a movie based on what other people are saying.

Sometimes I read the reviews about a movie before I start watching it because I want to make sure that I'm not wasting my time watching something boring. Thereofre, reviews help me to find good quality movies. I read reviews from Rotten Tomatoes or IMDb. I think reviews are a good measurement of quality about a movie/ TV show. Sometimes I watch the movies without reading any reviews. Surprisingly, some reviews or the ratings of the movie were lower than I expected. So now, I'm not much into reading reviews because sometimes I might like the movies that have bad reviews.

As a matter of fact, I do have the weird tendency to either read the reviews or watch the trailer of the movies prior to watching them, for some reason it gives me a bit of a heads-up and my expectations are regulated to normal levels. I think it's imperative to at least have a bit of an understanding on whether what you're watching is suitable for you and the ones you take to the theater with you.

No i usually watch the preview and hope it comes out good. The preview is some times better than the movie. It just depends on the movie.

I use to read movie reviews before I decided to watch a movie. Then I realized some people's idea of good, great, and excellent is warped because the I have watched some horrible movies based on someone else's 5 star rating. Now I use the previews to gauge whether or not the movie is worth watching. This is not a the best way to decide on the next movie to watch either but it's my way. 50 Shades of Grey is one of those movies that was a flop based on my technique and on reviews so I am just going to have read the book on this particular movie.

I am not a movie buff. I usually watch a movie only because of either review or trailer. Sometimes, feedback from friends who had earlier watch it serves as an encouragement as well. And I do not care whether it is an old or a new film.

I most definitely read reviews when I'm going to buy a new product or watch a movie. To me recommendations are important. Cause it's upsetting when buying something online . And when the product gets here it doesn't look the same or its not as good as you thought it would be. So very important read reviews and star ratings.

I glance at the reviews of movies that I want to watch. I do not pay so much attention to the reviews because every review is subjective, which means that it might differ from my own personal opinion. If a lot of people are saying that a movie is bad and should not be seen, then I tend to listen to the majority and not go watch that movie. But, if only a couple of people are saying that the movie is bad, It will not deter me from seeing the movie for myself.

    Hi,

I do read the reviews and also watch the trailers, remember everyone has a different opinion when it comes to movies so I do not go by the reviews that much, but I do consider the star rating and who directed and produced the movie, the trailers give you a better idea as to what to expect.

But I agree with you I have been very disappointed with movies that are supposed to be great and have been very impressed with movies that are not supposed to be that great so is a matter of giving it a shot and hope for the best.

    Have a good one.

I always watch trailer first then go to IMBD. Usually, if trailer is good I watch movie regardless the IMBD. Because sometimes it's relevant to me, sometimes not. I think the best solution is always to play the movie and if you don't like it you can always stop watching. Not all of us have same taste in film, so it's best to judge by yourself.

I won't read the reviews, but I'll check the ratings for the movie on IMDb before watching it. If the rating is below 6.0, then I won't bother watching it. If the rating is 6.0 and above, then I'll definitely consider watching it. After I watched the movie, then I'll start reading the reviews to see other people's opinion on it

I do read reviews, but I don't take them too seriously. I think movies, like many things, are subjective. Your personal taste will not be to someone else's - and, let's face it, if we all liked the same thing life would be really dull! One review site I do like, however, is Rotten Tomatoes because I think you do get a pretty good range of views on there. A bad review wouldn't stop me watching a movie, but it might push it down my wish list.

No I do not read reviews. I watch movies but I would not say I ever was crazy about them. I have never been to a movie to watch its first show like some of my friends used to watch but I prefer to wait for the rush to reduce down. Sometimes I go to see a movie when it comes to a single screen cinema hall from multiplex.

I seldom find time to watch movies on television but if there is a good comedy movie at the evening slot I try my best to manage time for watching it so there is very little time at my disposal for reading reviews.

I used to but after awhile I started watching the show or movie myself. I would read the reviews and see what others thought but when I watched the shoe or movie it was not bad. Then in some cases, they would say it was great and I would have to turn it off in the middle of the movie because I could not watch anymore. I basically watch it myself and then judge from there.

I do not like to read reviews of movie before watching movie if that movie contains one of my favorite stars or directors, producers. I read reviews of only those movies which are totally unknown to me. To understand movie before going to it, I watch trailer and little-bit of story.

Yes, I have the habit of reading reviews before watching a movie. I do this because the is many bad movies out there that make me lose my time that I do not like to risk. But, there is no rule without an exception and sometimes the movie is good and the reviews are bad.

I read reviews about any movie I watch. Mainly to compare my thoughts with other critics thoughts about those movies. sometimes I even read reviews about movies that I'm not familiar with before I even watch them to get an idea about them. There are so many movies on the net these days, so I use review about them to choose what would I like to watch or not.

I rarely go to a specific site for reading reviews, most of the time I just Google the movie's name and bunch reviews pop up with other information like cast, length, rating, etc. So I can find whatever I was looking for as well as reading reviews about the movie.

I read reviews when it comes to movies and products. For products I like to look for how many stars it got and how many of them were sold and if the seller has a good rating. For movies I often see a lot of mixed reviews of how bad it was, or how good it was. Even if I read a review I still want to see for myself the movie before believing either side.

Very rarely. I tend to know whether I'll like a movie just by reading the synopsis or looking at the trailer. I sometimes read reviews after seeing it though.

Reviews are just someone's opinion after all, even if they have a job doing it.

For example, people rave about Star Wars but to me they're just 'ok' films.
