Variety of Music?

Does anyone else listen to a wide variety of music genres? I mainly listen to rock, metal, symphonic metal, and Broadway, but I also listen to a couple songs from almost every other genre, except for rap and hip-hop. It seems like most people I know only listen to or like music from three different genres at most. Am I weird, or are all my friends just boring?

 

All you freinds are not boring just that you don't have the same views on my side I listen mostly to rap hip hop then RnB and sometime love songs and traditionaliste songs thats too great

 

All my friends listen variety of music. Variety is a radio format that plays music across numerous genres. Freedom variety is associated with a wide range of programming including talk, sports and music from a wide spectrum. Traditional songs and new songs are likely to all my friends. Personally, I believe that there are 9 main genres, from which all other music types are derived from.

 

Ohhh then what are those 9 main genres

 

I've noticed that most people do listen to a few amount of music genres but I also have a few friends and acquaintances that listen to at least a little of most genres.

I mostly listen Rock, Metal and Symphonic Metal as well but I also like Pop, Funk, Raggae, Folk, a bit of Disco, Prog, Flamenco, Swing, etc. My dad is a musician and my mom loves music, so I grew up listening to different artists and styles like: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, but also Paco de Lucía, ABBA, Santana, Mecano, Joaquín Sabina and other artists from Latin America and Spain as well as World Music, Jazz, Classical Music, etc.

I think anyone can listen to a wide variety of music, it's actually a good thing to do. It's easier if you're already used to listen to different kinds of music but it's not impossible.

 

Here are the genres I follow:

- JPop: I focus mainly on Ayumi Hamasaki, Koda Kumi, and Misia.
- Rap battles: I search YouTube for JTMusic, Video Game Rap Battles, and Epic Rap Battles of History.
- Boss music from video games: Some of my favorite selections include "Endless Despair" from "BlazBlue: Continuum Shift" and the boss battle music from "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero."

 

I listen to several genres too. Mainly R&B and reggae but I also like heavy metal bands, alternative, soft pop, Latin music and classical. When I put my music on shuffle it goes all over the place from Aaliyah-Rock the Boat to Marilyn Manson-I Don't Like the Drugs and ends with the soundtrack to the Les Miserables musical. I also believe that most people find their genres and stick to it because I always get weird looks when talking about my music taste or when playing music on shuffle. I oftentimes have to make specific playlists with specific genres to organize my sporadic music taste.
