Yes, I am. It is an answer that many people will never understand. I live in a country where there are numerous cases of rape, murder, massacre and drugs. News about a child being raped, a whole family massacred, an honored student shot in the head, a child stabbed to death and drug addicts are everywhere hurting and killing innocent people. Those are just some of the problems that my countrymen are facing right now. Many doesn't approve on war on drugs. War on drugs is a very hard task. No one can ever eliminate drugs in a country with just one slap. It needs a lot of work, cooperation and determination. And I believe that it is better to eliminate the bad people than to loose the lives of the innocent who are just trying their best to survive.

That is actually a very tricky question. Firstly, you did not explicitly state what crimes death penalties may or may not solve. Also, this is actually a very sensitive topic as who really has the right to determine what is and isn't a capital crime. In my opinion, a crime worthy of capital punishment is one that permanently harmfully influences the life of another. Whether it be something like the rape of multiple people (though there is a trend of falsely accused "rapists" going around), or the homicide of multiple people, I'd say maybe two or three since one death could possibly be an accident but there is no way you accidentally kill three people via violent means. Another one would be something along the lines of excessive abuse to multiple parties mainly children; this includes pedophiles and the like but only pedophiles that have sexually abused children more than once as everyone makes mistakes.

The death penalty won't solve crimes, but it may deter more people from committing them as most people fear death.

I believe that the death penalty is a good idea if used properly. Obviously we cant just go around killing everybody for minor law infractions, but it is a good idea for people who have been found guilty of horrific crimes. Mostly because they cause trauma to a family they should have to experience the same horror.

No,I am not. This is such an easy way of relieving the offenders of their suffering. Death does eradicate this people from the society but they will never learn their lesson. When they are dead they are not in a position to pay for their deeds.

There needs to be very clear guidelines on what types of crime deserve death as Jetselle Santos has said. The Justice system should also be highly transparent. What would you or your family feel if you find yourself in the death row unjustly?

I think I am in favour of a crime free World where no human being is killed by the other. I am in favour of a world where everyone is treated with respect ,dignity and love. But is this all possible in the real world today? The answer is a big "No".

We are all living in a world where terrorism and mass killing has become rampant. I think Death Penalty is the only punishment that can be awarded to persons, who commit heinous crimes like gang rape, mass murder and terrorist activities. Anything less than Death Penalty would be a great injustice to the victims of such crimes and also to there families. Death Penalty should definitely be awarded in such rarest of rare cases.

Death Penalty is actually a very sensitive topic and has been a topic of debate until now mainly because of the morality and ethical issues that surround it. But this capital punishment is not really new as it dates back even way before ancient time.

I was in favor of death penalty before on the premise that it is actually a historical practice and I believe it would deter would-be criminals to commit heinous acts. With the increasing cases of killings and gruesome crimes, I felt hopeless then and only see a ray of hope through the imposition of death penalty.

So am I still in favor of it? Not necessarily anymore. What made me change my perspective then? Although I'm still not against it, it had made me ponder and think. For countries who are already implementing it, was it really able to reduce the number of crimes? Which led me to another question, are people who were executed correctly convicted or were they innocent? The bottom line is whether we implement it or not, the success of it would depend upon the credibility of the justice system. As long we could not ensure that people who are accused and are sent to death row are given fair trial regardless of financial capability then death penalty would never serve its purpose and would really be morally wrong. Unless we could guarantee that no innocent people would be convicted and that poor people who are accused be given financial assistance to have their right for good defense then I'd rather not support it even if I'm in favor of it.

No. The death penalty on the part of the State institutionalizes the death penalty that already exists on the part of the bandits. The State, when it decides to kill, takes for itself a right that denies to its citizens. Therefore, the death penalty is a contradiction on the part of the State. Mathematically, the death penalty does not decrease deaths, it only increases them. The death penalty shows how the prison system is incapable of regenerating an individual, throwing the responsibility that is of the state in order to punish the criminal with life. Thus, the death penalty denies criminals the chance to reintegrate into society. And it adds up to the fact that I am a Christian.

No, I lived in the Philippines where our current administration are in favor of having death penalty back in our country. Luckily, it is not effective in our country due to some reasons. Death penalty for me takes your right to live, so basically our administration here in the Philippines takes our right to live and violates our Human rights. Even though there's still no death penalty here in the Philippines, our President has this program called ''War on drugs" in which they kill drug pushers, users and sellers without having their due process. For me, that activity is inhumane and our President should be replaced by a decent and brilliant president just like our late Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago.

Our administration could bring death penalty back in our country and that would be the worst decision our President will ever made. Death penalty alienates our Human rights and that's an issue that we need to take actions for. We do not need death penalty to have a better country, we need our Leader's tactical mind to formulate strategies on how our country could be a crime free in the near future.

I am in favor of death penalty for the fact that God himself authored this law. Remember the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden? God told them that they can eat every fruit in the Garden except for one, the fruit of knowledge of good and evil and if they break this commandment they shall surely die. Our God is a God of justice but He is also a God of mercy. He is willing to forgive the sinners and give them a second chance. Our God is a God of second chances.

Am I still in favor of death penalty? Yes. If and only if we have a righteous judge like God.

I try to believe that the only solution to eliminating it is death penalty but still think they are other possible solutions to stop all those things aside murder, well I think when the situation is at the apex they can declare war on criminals which will include martial law on them but I still think that rehabilitation is a great solution to the problem.

I also stand with religious view on the matter that it is God that gives life and it is him that decide when to take it and should not be left to the law to decide the fate of a man especially taking his life, other punishment should be accepted and even worst but not death.

I am in favor of the death penalty IF that certain person who will be punished was really the one who did the crime and not just framed by rich and mighty human being. Practically, why should we locked them up in jail for so many years, let the government paid for their needs. I know I may sound inhumane but I am just stating a fact. Prisoners (with murder, rape crimes) should be dealth with death penalty or they just like tenants with free accomodation and security if they remain locked up for the rest of their lives. The government should have use the funds to a more beneficial way like building more school buildings or make a housing program which is affordable for the poor people.

What do we call a person who murders another? The answer is obviously 'a murderer'. When capital punishment is given then it is murder according to me.

The Bible teaches about forgiveness. It talks of praying for those who afflict you.

When a person has taken another person's life, willingly and intentionally, I think the only way to avenge that person's life is death. In short, life for life. Keeping such a person in jail sends a different message to would-be-offenders who know that they can kill and spend the rest of their days in jail or worse still have some window for parole.

So, when it comes to crimes such as robbery with violence, murder, and crimes against humanity, the death sentence is a befitting punishment.

I absolutely believe there are crimes worthy of the death penalty. Unfortunately, I'm not convinced we live in a society that will carry this punishment out in a fair and just way. With the growing use of DNA testing, there are so many people being freed from prison for crimes they did not commit. There are a lot of reasons that this happens and until this stops being the case I don't think I can support the death penalty at this time.

I do not believe that death penalty should be place. However, I think that if it is just the thought of the death penalty it would be beneficial.

I think this is a question that's hard to answer. I feel like that the allowance of a death penalty will cause a lot of trouble in the end and I also believe that it'd be abused very easily. Whilst some terrorists for example would really deserve getting a death penalty, the state would probably declare a death penalty on other criminals aswell. To add another thought to everything I just explained: Wouldn't it be better to just put terrorists into jail for the rest of their life? Killing them is an easy way out for the terrorists, as some already kill themselves right on scene, however if you put them in jail for the rest of their lifes they will probably start to really suffer from that consequence rather than just getting killed by the state.

I am not in favor of the death penalty anywhere on this continent because it is legalized slaughter. A crime should not be taken care of by placing another bad deed over the top of it like a bandage. A prison guard or any human with a loving heart would rather see their inmates grow old in prison and succumb to old age rather than be included in the group of slaughters.
The United States makes "paid slaughters" out of our wards and guards having them stand and watch these criminals be "sizzled",(electrocuted), in the chair as part of their jobs. Us as human beings already know that life is not fair, so let us bring fairness into this situation by not condemning the evil woman or man to the fullest extent of the law. He knows he will live with the fact he broke the law, and being in that prison cell is enough punishment the rest of his life.

Something I find inconsistent: people who are opposed to the death penalty but argue for life imprisonment instead. I find this even less humane. They use the argument that you don't have the right to decide who lives or died but if that's the case, why should you have the right to put them away.

I think it will be cruel to support death penalty The crime by criminal may be unforgivable but life imprisonment may be better than death penalty. So that he can reflect himself what he has done in his life

I can understand the appeal of the death penalty. Some people are so irredeemably wicked, killing them so they do not strike again makes sense on an emotional level.

However, our justice systems are flawed. We occasionally send innocent people to jail. That includes Death Row, which means that we as a nation are murdering innocent people.

I came to the conclusion that it's preferable to let a complete monster stay in prison for the rest of his days than to kill even one more innocent person because she or he got railroaded in court.
